Dynamical Lorentz and CPT symmetry breaking in a 4D four-fermion model
In a 4D chiral Thirring model we analyse the possibility that radiative
corrections may produce spontaneous breaking of Lorentz and CPT symmetry. By
studying the effective potential, we verified that the chiral current
may assume a nonzero vacuum expectation
value which triggers the Lorentz and CPT violations. Furthermore, by making
fluctuations on the minimum of the potential we dynamically induce a bumblebee
like model containing a Chern-Simons term.Comment: Small modifications in the text and new references added, 12 pages, 4

Structural properties of crumpled cream layers
The cream layer is a complex heterogeneous material of biological origin
which forms spontaneously at the air-milk interface. Here, it is studied the
crumpling of a single cream layer packing under its own weight at room
temperature in three-dimensional space. The structure obtained in these
circumstances has low volume fraction and anomalous fractal dimensions. Direct
means and noninvasive NMR imaging technique are used to investigate the
internal and external structure of these systems.Comment: 9 pages, 4 figures, accepted in J. Phys. D: Appl. Phy
Slavnov-Taylor identities for noncommutative QED
In this work we present an analysis of the one-loop Slavnov-Taylor identities
in noncommutative QED. The vectorial fermion-photon and the triple photon
vertex functions were studied, with the conclusion that no anomalies arise.Comment: 24 pages, revtex4, v2: typos correcte
Complete Fusion Enhancement and Suppression of Weakly Bound Nuclei at Near Barrier Energies
We consider the influence of breakup channels on the complete fusion of
weakly bound systems in terms of dynamic polarization potentials. It is argued
that the enhancement of the cross section at sub-barrier energies may be
consistent with recent experimental observations that nucleon transfer, often
leading to breakup, is dominant compared to direct breakup. The main trends of
the experimental complete fusion cross section for Li + Bi are
analyzed in the framework of the DPP approach.Comment: 12 pages, 2 figure
On the radiative corrections in the Horava-Lifshitz z=2 QED
We calculate one-loop contributions to the two and three point spinor-vector
functions in z=2 Horava-Lifshitz QED. This allows us to obtain the anomalous
magnetic moment.Comment: 10 pages, minor correction
Tuning in magnetic modes in Tb(Co_{x}Ni_{1-x})_{2}B_{2}C: from longitudinal spin-density waves to simple ferromagnetism
Neutron diffraction and thermodynamics techniques were used to probe the
evolution of the magnetic properties of Tb(Co_{x}Ni_{1-x})_{2}B_{2}C. A
succession of magnetic modes was observed as x is varied: the longitudinal
modulated k=(0.55,0,0) state at x=0 is transformed into a collinear
k=([nicefrac]\nicefrac{1}{2},0,[nicefrac]\nicefrac{1}{2})
antiferromagnetic state at x= 0.2, 0.4; then into a transverse c-axis modulated
k=(0,0,[nicefrac]\nicefrac{1}{3}) mode at x= 0.6, and finally
into a simple ferromagnetic structure at x= 0.8 and 1. Concomitantly, the
low-temperature orthorhombic distortion of the tetragonal unit cell at x=0 is
reduced smoothly such that for x >= 0.4 only a tetragonal unit cell is
manifested. Though predicted theoretically earlier, this is the first
observation of the k=(0,0,[nicefrac]\nicefrac{1}{3}) mode in
borocarbides; our findings of a succession of magnetic modes upon increasing x
also find support from a recently proposed theoretical model. The implication
of these findings and their interpretation on the magnetic structure of the
RM_{2}B_{2}C series are also discussed
On the aether-like Lorentz-breaking actions
We demonstrate the generation of the CPT-even, aether-like Lorentz-breaking
actions for the scalar and electromagnetic fields via their appropriate
Lorentz-breaking coupling to spinor fields in three, four and five space-time
dimensions. Besides, we show that the aether-like terms for the spinor field
also can be generated as a consequence of the same couplings. Also we discuss
the dispersion relations in the theories with aether-like Lorentz-breaking
terms and find the tree-level effective (Breit) potential for fermion
scattering and the one-loop effective potential corresponding to the action of
the scalar field.Comment: 18 pages, version accepted to Physical Review
