The Metric of Yang-Mills Orbit Space on the Lattice
We find coordinates, the metric tensor, the inverse metric tensor and the
Laplace-Beltrami operator for the orbit space of Hamiltonian SU(2) gauge theory
on a finite, rectangular lattice. This is done using a complete axial gauge
fixing. The Gribov problem can be completely solved, with no remaining gauge
ambiguities.Comment: Title is changed in journal. Now 19 pages, still one figure, AMSTe
Polarization fluctuations in insulators and metals: New and old theories merge
The ground-state fluctuation of polarization P is finite in insulators and
divergent in metals, owing to the SWM sum rule [I. Souza, T. Wilkens, and R. M.
Martin, Phys. Rev. B 62, 1666 (2000)]. This is a virtue of periodic (i.e.
transverse) BCs. I show that within any other boundary conditions the P
fluctuation is finite even in metals, and a generalized sum rule applies. The
boundary-condition dependence is a pure correlation effect, not present at the
independent-particle level. In the longitudinal case div P = -rho, and one
equivalently addresses charge fluctuations: the generalized sum rule reduces
then to a well known result of many-body theory.Comment: 4 pages, no figur
Languages ordered by the subword order
We consider a language together with the subword relation, the cover
relation, and regular predicates. For such structures, we consider the
extension of first-order logic by threshold- and modulo-counting quantifiers.
Depending on the language, the used predicates, and the fragment of the logic,
we determine four new combinations that yield decidable theories. These results
extend earlier ones where only the language of all words without the cover
relation and fragments of first-order logic were considered
Results of the analysis of the dimensional resonator based onmagnetostatic waves in epitaxial ferrite film (MSW-resonator) are discussed. A mathematicalmodel of such a resonator is based on the model of a Fabry-Perot, common in the case of thedispersion medium, with coupled elements in the form of microstrip transducers. Theformulas for calculating the weighted Q factor and the crosstalk attenuation is given. Theadvantage of two-port MSW-resonators as frequency set elements of generators is that they, along with great loaded Q are the phase shift, which can greatly exceed the value of ./2, asfor normal radio resonators, which significantly expands the range of frequency tuningwithout jumping of frequency microwave generators constructed by the ring schemeПриведены результаты анализа размерного резонатора на основе магнитостатических волн в эпитаксиальной ферритовой пленке (МСВ-резонатора).
Spin-orbit Hanle effect in high-mobility quantum wells
We study the depolarization of optically oriented electrons in quantum wells
subjected to an in-plane magnetic field and show that the Hanle curve
drastically depends on the carrier mobility. In low-mobility structures, the
Hanle curve is described by a Lorentzian with the width determined by the
effective g-factor and the spin lifetime. In contrast, the magnetic field
dependence of spin polarization in high-mobility quantum wells is nonmonotonic:
The spin polarization rises with the magnetic field induction at small fields,
reaches maximum and then decreases. We show that the position of the Hanle
curve maximum can be used to directly measure the spin-orbit Rashba/Dresselhaus
magnetic field.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figure
