In this paper we study volume growth of gradient steady Ricci solitons. We show that if the potential function satisfies a uniform condition, then the soliton has at most Euclidean volume growth.Comment: 8 page

The Wasserstein distance for Ricci shrinkers

Let (Mn,g,f)(M^n,g,f) be a Ricci shrinker such that Ricf=12g\textrm{Ric}_f=\frac{1}{2}g and the measure induced by the weighted volume element (4π)n2efdvg(4\pi)^{-\frac{n}{2}}e^{-f}dv_{g} is a probability measure. Given a point pMp\in M, we consider two probability measures defined in the tangent space TpMT_pM, namely the Gaussian measure γ\gamma and the measure ν\overline{\nu} induced by the exponential map of MM to pp. In this paper, we prove a result that provides an upper estimate for the Wasserstein distance with respect to the Euclidean metric g0g_0 between the measures ν\overline{\nu} and γ\gamma, and which also elucidates the rigidity implications resulting from this estimate

The extraction of timber is very important despite the process is difficult, expensive, time consuming, and has concerns with work safety. The extraction operations are used human, animal, and machine power. The purpose of this study is to investigate the productivity of the Tajfun MOZ 500 GR cable yarder during the extraction of timber from spruce stands in northeast Turkey. The research results imply that some working characteristics of the MOZ 500 GR cable yarder such as load volume, yarding distance, speed of the carriage, and time consumption per phase have an important impact on the productivity of the cable yarder. The results indicated that the productivity of MOZ 500 GR cable yarder was 8.39 m(3)/h for an average yarding distance of 90 m. Besides, the daily productivity of cable yarders was found at 67.12 m(3). The cable yarders seem ideal for use in the steep terrain. The use of cable yarders in wood production works is more ideal than other production techniques (human, animal, and tractor) in terms of productivity, speed, and work safety

    Ethical Mastery of Innovative Technologies

In this paper we present an alternative bio-epistemological-based approach to economic ethics issues, which suggests that economists need not only an understanding of the ecosystem in terms of irreversibility, but even more an understanding of the way the process in ecosystem make actual the principle of ameliorative equilibration. This means that among many technological innovations that extend the field of the possibilities only those that prove to be integrative and able to ameliorate the adaptation process will be chosen and preserved. In our view, only this type of prospective approach could be considered ethical as it realizes the principle of ameliorative equilibration and harmonizes the technological innovation process with the process of the ecosystem.social cooperation, biophysical constraints, negentropic rocess, ameliorative equilibration, vection, cross-disciplinary research.

Monotone Quantities for pp-Harmonic functions and the Sharp pp-Penrose inequality

Consider a complete asymptotically flat 3-manifold MM with non-negative scalar curvature and non-empty minimal boundary Σ\Sigma. Fix a number 1<p<21 < p < 2. We derive monotone quantities for pp-harmonic functions on MM which become constant on Schwarzschild. These monotonicity formulas imply a sharp mass-capacity estimate relating the ADM mass of MM with the pp-capacity of Σ\Sigma in MM, which was first proved by Xiao using weak inverse mean curvature flow.Comment: 20 pages, comments are welcome
