Asymptotic Learning Curve and Renormalizable Condition in Statistical Learning Theory
Bayes statistics and statistical physics have the common mathematical
structure, where the log likelihood function corresponds to the random
Hamiltonian. Recently, it was discovered that the asymptotic learning curves in
Bayes estimation are subject to a universal law, even if the log likelihood
function can not be approximated by any quadratic form. However, it is left
unknown what mathematical property ensures such a universal law. In this paper,
we define a renormalizable condition of the statistical estimation problem, and
show that, under such a condition, the asymptotic learning curves are ensured
to be subject to the universal law, even if the true distribution is
unrealizable and singular for a statistical model. Also we study a
nonrenormalizable case, in which the learning curves have the different
asymptotic behaviors from the universal law
Single-electron transistors in electromagnetic environments
The current-voltage (I-V) characteristics of single-electron transistors
(SETs) have been measured in various electromagnetic environments. Some SETs
were biased with one-dimensional arrays of dc superconducting quantum
interference devices (SQUIDs). The purpose was to provide the SETs with a
magnetic-field-tunable environment in the superconducting state, and a
high-impedance environment in the normal state. The comparison of SETs with
SQUID arrays and those without arrays in the normal state confirmed that the
effective charging energy of SETs in the normal state becomes larger in the
high-impedance environment, as expected theoretically. In SETs with SQUID
arrays in the superconducting state, as the zero-bias resistance of the SQUID
arrays was increased to be much larger than the quantum resistance R_K = h/e^2
= 26 kohm, a sharp Coulomb blockade was induced, and the current modulation by
the gate-induced charge was changed from e periodic to 2e periodic at a bias
point 0<|V|<2D_0/e, where D_0 is the superconducting energy gap. The author

Tau longitudinal polarization in B -> D tau nu and its role in the search for charged Higgs boson
We study the longitudinal polarization of the tau lepton in B -> D tau nu
decay. After discussing possible sensitivities of tau decay modes to the tau
polarization, we examine the effect of charged Higgs boson on the tau
polarization in B -> D tau nu. We find a relation between the decay rate and
the tau polarization, and clarify the role of the tau polarization measurement

Resumo: Os agricultores familiares de base ecológica estabelecidos em Ouro Preto do Oeste, Rondônia, comercializavam seus produtos beneficiados através de um único canal - a APA (Associação dos Produtores Alternativos). Quando a APA encerrou suas atividades eles perderam esse canal. O objetivo deste trabalho é a apresentação de uma proposta integrada para a reabilitação da comercialização de produtos beneficiados. São sugeridas duas linhas de ação: 1. Busca de novos canais de comercialização no mercado nacional e internacional e 2. Promoção de divulgação e marketing dos produtos usando meios de comunicação de massa
Mechanical cleaning of graphene
Contamination of graphene due to residues from nanofabrication often
introduces background doping and reduces charge carrier mobility. For samples
of high electronic quality, post-lithography cleaning treatments are therefore
needed. We report that mechanical cleaning based on contact mode AFM removes
residues and significantly improves the electronic properties. A mechanically
cleaned dual-gated bilayer graphene transistor with hBN dielectrics exhibited a
mobility of ~36,000 cm2/Vs at low temperature.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figure
Potential inversion with subbarrier fusion data revisited
We invert experimental data for heavy-ion fusion reactions at energies well
below the Coulomb barrier in order to directly determine the internucleus
potential between the colliding nuclei. In contrast to the previous
applications of the inversion formula, we explicitly take into account the
effect of channel couplings on fusion reactions, by assuming that fusion cross
sections at deep subbarrier energies are governed by the lowest barrier in the
barrier distribution. We apply this procedure to the O +Sm and
O +Pb reactions, and find that the inverted internucleus
potential are much thicker than phenomenological potentials. A relation to the
steep fall-off phenomenon of fusion cross sections recently found at deep

Quantum Effects in Small-Capacitance Single Josephson Junctions
We have measured the current-voltage (I-V) characteristics of
small-capacitance single Josephson junctions at low temperatures (T=0.02-0.6
K), where the strength of the coupling between the single junction and the
electromagnetic environment was controlled with one-dimensional arrays of dc
SQUIDs. The single-junction I-V curve is sensitive to the impedance of the
environment, which can be tuned IN SITU. We have observed Coulomb blockade of
Cooper-pair tunneling and even a region of negative differential resistance,
when the zero-bias resistance R_0' of the SQUID arrays is much higher than the
quantum resistance R_K = h/e^2 = 26 kohm. The negative differential resistance
is evidence of coherent single-Cooper-pair tunneling within the theory of
current-biased single Josephson junctions. Based on the theory, we have
calculated the I-V curves numerically in order to compare with the experimental
ones at R_0' >> R_K. The numerical calculation agrees with the experiments
qualitatively. We also discuss the R_0' dependence of the
single-Josephson-junction I-V curve in terms of the superconductor-insulator

A Relativistic Description of Gentry's New Redshift Interpretation
We obtain a new expression of the Friedmann-Robertson-Walker metric, which is
an analogue of a static chart of the de Sitter space-time. The reduced metric
contains two functions, and , which are interpreted as,
respectively, the mass function and the gravitational potential. We find that,
near the coordinate origin, the reduced metric can be approximated in a static
form and that the approximated metric function, , satisfies the
Poisson equation. Moreover, when the model parameters of the
Friedmann-Robertson-Walker metric are suitably chosen, the approximated metric
coincides with exact solutions of the Einstein equation with the perfect fluid
matter. We then solve the radial geodesics on the approximated space-time to
obtain the distance-redshift relation of geodesic sources observed by the
comoving observer at the origin. We find that the redshift is expressed in
terms of a peculiar velocity of the source and the metric function, ,
evaluated at the source position, and one may think that this is a new
