Mediterranean regional assessment: Near Threatened (NT) The species is found from southwestern Europe and northwestern Africa. In two countries within the Mediterranean distribution (France and Portugal) populations or habitat of this species have declined by more than 30% over three generations. In another two countries (Algeria and Morocco) a similar decline is suspected but cannot yet be confirmed, and in Spain populations appear to be relatively abundant however there is no information on population trends. Elsewhere the species is known only from singlesites in Sardinia and Tunisia. whilst the extent of occurrence is very large, the area of occupancy (AOO) is possibly restricted however distribution data are inadequate to confirm the AOO. Therefore whilst the rate of decline cannot be measured throughout the range of the species, the Mediterranean population decline is confirmed, it is ongoing and is not reversible, consequently this species is close to classification as Vulnerable (A2c and A4c). Further to this, if monitoring data become available to provide an indication of population trends in Spain and these show that it is in decline then it is clear that the species should be considered threatened at both the Mediterranean and global scales. This species is therefore classed as Near Threatened, approaching Vulnerable (A2c+4c)

Control Charts for First Order Autoregressive Analysis with An Exogenous Variable

There are many instances in industry, where the necessity of prediction models is extremely important. However, the difficulty of forecasting increases with the number of variables involved, and determining independent variables from dependent variables. Autocorrelation is one of the most common causes for many control charts and other quality measurement tools to falsely signal an error in the process. Time series models, such as autoregressive models, accommodate autocorrelated data to a certain extent. However, using a model that only analyzes historical data alone does not possess the accuracy necessary to be able to forecast data precisely. An addition of an independent variable into an AR(1) model will increase the accuracy by noting how correlated the two variables are and using that value in order to correct the previous errors. Likelihood functions will aid in the derivation of the model. The results will develop a new robust control chart

    Ribbon homology cobordisms

We study 4-dimensional homology cobordisms without 3-handles, showing that they interact nicely with Thurston geometries, character varieties, and instanton and Heegaard Floer homologies. Using these, we derive obstructions to such cobordisms, with topological applications.Comment: 50 pages, 6 figures. Major reorganization of sections for improved exposition. Effect of Alternate Metals for use in Natural Fibre Reinforced Fibre Metal Laminates under Bending, Impact and Axial Loadings

AbstractFibre Metal Laminate (FML) is largely used in the manufacture of aircrafts. The commercially available FMLs, GLARE, CARALL (CArbon Reinforced ALuminium Laminate) and ARALL make use of Aluminium metal. Other FMLs that are under study by researchers make use of metals such as Titanium and Magnesium based alloys. Owing to the high cost of carbon fibre and the necessity for environment friendly alternatives, in the present work, a portion of carbon is replaced by natural fibre jute in CARALL and CARMAL (CArbon Reinforced MAgnesium Laminate). To the knowledge of the authors, this attempt has not been made before in the field of FMLs. The resulting CArbon-Jute Reinforced ALuminium Laminate and CArbon-Jute Reinforced MAgnesium Laminate are named as CAJRALL and CAJRMAL. Both these laminates are made by hand layup technique and then compressed in a compression moulding machine. The CAJRALL and the CAJRMAL specimens are subjected to Axial, Flexure and Impact tests according to ASTM standards. The effect of the orientations of fibres and influence of the stacking sequences of the fibre and metal combinations and the use of alternating metals on the mechanical performance, are experimentally investigated. The experimental and theoretical results as well as the results obtained through Finite Element Analysis are found to be in close agreement. Also the failure of the FML is predicted by conducting micro level structure analysis

Gipsy 3D: Analysis, Visualization and Vo-Tools

The scientific goals of the AMIGA project are based on the analysis of a significant amount of spectroscopic 3D data. In order to perform this work we present an initiative to develop a new VO compliant package, including present core applications and tasks offered by the Groningen Image Processing System (GIPSY), and new ones based on use cases elaborated in collaboration with ad- vanced users. One of the main goals is to provide local interoperability between GIPSY (visualization and data analysis) and other VO software. The connectivity with the Virtual Observatory environment will provide general access to 3D data VO archives and services, maximizing the potential for scientific discovery.Comment: 2 pages, 1 figure, to appear in the proceedings of the "Multi-wavelength Astronomy and Virtual Observatory" Workshop held at ESAC 1-3 Dec 200
