    Leadership: The Tabletop Concept

    Get PDF
Applying the analogy of the four supporting pillars of support for a table — and thus, in similar fashion with a true and lasting, moral leader — Hagelberg discusses how four leadership principles in particular – integrity, competence, emotional intelligence, and vision – are the four essential traits of successful and lasting leadership

    Two Classes of Hot Jupiters

We identify two classes of transiting planet, based on their equilibrium temperatures and Safronov numbers. We examine various possible explanations for the dichotomy. It may reflect the influence of planet or planetesimal scattering in determining when planetary migration stops. Another possibility is that some planets lose more mass to evaporation than others. If this evaporation process preferentially removes Helium from the planet, the consequent reduction in the mean molecular weight may explain why some planets have anomalously large radii.Comment: 35 pages, 16 figures in Preprint format. Closed-loop Reference Models for Output-Feedback Adaptive Systems

Closed-loop reference models have recently been proposed for states accessible adaptive systems. They have been shown to have improved transient response over their open loop counter parts. The results in the states accessible case are extended to single input single output plants of arbitrary relative degree.Comment: v1 Submitted to European Control Conference 2013, v2 Typos correcte
