Transmodal delivery and neomillennial learning approaches

    No full text
Relying on text-based instruction may be disenfranchising many students, whilst technology enhanced environments can provide real advantages to an ever increasing market of non-traditional learners. This research demonstrates that higher levels of engagement are possible when a neomillennial learning approach is adopted to cater for a diverse range of student learning styles and backgrounds

This paper reports on a two year pilot project facilitating the professional development of teachers of first year courses through a community of practice. They also develop strategies to meet individual, institutional and societal demands impacting on their teaching

Ethical considerations in providing distance education in the light of massification

    No full text
The massification of higher education has led to a rise in equity related issues in teaching and although institutions have developed policies, few academics have a coherent way of adhering to them. This paper briefly discusses the implications of catering for an increasingly diverse student body and proposes multimodal design as an appropriate response. Case studies are used to support the proposal

    No full text
The poster will present findings from the first year of a two-year nationally funded Australian Learning and Teaching Council (ALTC) project, Building distributed leadership in designing and implementing a quality management framework for Online Learning Environments undertaken by Deakin University, Macquarie University, University of South Australia, University of Southern Queensland and RMIT University. The project is running over 2011-2012. This project aims to design and implement a framework that uses a distributed leadership approach for the quality management of Online Learning Environments (OLEs) in Australian higher education. The distributed leadership approach enables the development of the framework and in turn contributes to its implementation. The framework is the vehicle for building leadership capacity. The national project team itself represents a broad range of educational, technical and managerial expertise. © 2011 Dale Holt, Stuart Palmer, Judy Munro, James Quealy, Ian Solomonides, Maree Gosper, Margaret Hicks, Michael Sankey, Amgad Louka & Robert Hollenbeck
