Scope: to present a brief description of this material in order to support the identification of the newly found material. Methodology: Water samples were taken at Ciénaga Grande de Santa Marta Colombia using a 25 L bucket. Samples were filtered with a standard zooplankton net (45 μm mesh) and fixed and preserved in 70% ethanol. Harpacticoid copepods were separated with a brush. Dissected specimens and appendages were mounted in glycerine. The dissected appendages were photographed using a Kodak Easy Share C140 digital camera adapted to a compound microscope at a magnification of 1000X. Main results: Cletocamptus sinaloensis seems to be closely related to C. levis Gómez 2005, known from Brazil. The closeness of these species was assumed based on the general shape and number of setae of the mandibular palp (one-segmented with three setae), P2-P4 EXP3 and ENP2 with 5-5-4 and 3-3-2 elements respectively, length: width ratio of the caudal rami, and ornamentation of the anal operculum with two rows of strong spinules. Nevertheless, they can be separated by 1) the armature complement of the antennal exopod, 2) length of the exopodal lobe of the female P5, 3) relative length of the P3ENP, 4) number of setae on the female P6. Conclusions: The specimen from Colombia bears the diagnostic features of C. sinaloensis as originally described, but shows subtle differences in the length of P1ENP, shape of seminal receptacle and relative length of P6

Workplace wellbeing programmes and their impact on employees and their employing organisations: a scoping review of the evidence base

    Get PDF
This report constitutes a scoping literature review that identifies and critically examines the evidence base surrounding health and wellbeing programmes conducted in the workplace and their impact on employees and their employing organisations. The review drew on a broad range of sources covering multiple sectors. However, the report additionally highlights evidence that relates specifically to the retail and construction industries. The review offers an analysis of the current evidence base and discusses the implications of implementing different types of workplace health and wellbeing schemes. Some recommendations for supporting and promoting the health and wellbeing of employees in organisations are made on the basis of this review and, where gaps in knowledge are identified, recommendations for further research are made

Concept mapping sociocultural aspects of cervical cancer prevention among African American women

    Get PDF
IntroductionFor African American women in Houston, cervical cancer mortality is disproportionate to their racial and ethnic counterparts. Most notably, lack of human papillomavirus (HPV) screening and vaccination as well as late diagnosis increase cervical cancer mortality. However, cervical cancer is largely preventable. While previous research has identified a few social determinants that are specifically related to cervical cancer (e.g., education, income, neighborhood), there may be a host of additional social and cultural factors that contribute to a lack of preventative behavior.MethodsThe present study used concept mapping to explore sociocultural determinants of cervical cancer prevention beliefs among young African American women. N = 15 African American women, ages 18–25, participated in a group concept mapping session focused on cervical cancer knowledge, beliefs about women’s health, and how their social environment and culture play a role in their conceptualization of cervical cancer prevention.DiscussionFive overarching concepts emerged: (1) Screening, (2) Support System, (3) Cervical Cancer 101 (knowledge), (4) Fatalism, and (5) Ease of Prevention.ConclusionThe present study highlights the use of concept mapping for prevention science, particularly in exploratory studies for understanding cervical cancer screening barriers, avenues for intervention, and public health messaging. We discuss the findings and implications for public health research in cervical cancer prevention tailored for African American women

This paper seeks to review the way in which the protection conditions of fundamental rights could be established through the extra-contractual liability of the State within the context of the peace treaty between the Colombian State and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia-People’s Army. Beyond the discussion regarding the nature of the internal armed conflict, it is shown that Colombian institutionality has outlined a series of actions in order to provide assurances and protection for victims, especially at the Constitutional Court and the Council of State. The various points of analysis set at this level must be observed to strengthen institutional capacities based on direct-reparation actions in matters related to the extra-contractual liability of the State. These elements are a must if the successful implementation of the post-agreement is to be reached.

A PALEOMAGNETIC AND ROCK MAGNETIC STUDY IN THE SALDAÑA FORMATION AND OVERLYING CRETACEOUS UNITS IN THE NORTHERN UPPER MAGDALENA VALLEY, COLOMBIA

Lavas, mudstones and volcaniclastics rocks from the Saldaña (Upper Triassic - Lower Jurassic), Yaví and Alpujarra (Aptian) formations in the northern Upper Magdalena Valley were demagnetized using thermal and alternating field methods in order to isolate magnetic components and to establish a relative age of magnetization using several field tests. Magnetic mineralogy analyses permit the identification of the minerals that record uncovered magnetic components. Isolated components represent different events of magnetization. Directions parallel to the present Earth magnetic field were isolated in all the studied units. Characteristic components isolated from the Yaví Formation in Alpujarra area and from the Saldaña Formation in Olaya Herrera area, may correspond to primary or near-to-deposition events of magnetization. In Olaya Herrera, the characteristic component of the Saldaña Formation (D=179.9 I=7.1 N=8 k=17.19 α95=13.7) is carried by magnetite. Characteristic components uncovered in two different structural domains document 43±29ºcounterclockwise rotations previous to deposition of the Aptian Yaví Formation. Characteristic directions of the Yaví Formation are carried by hematite and magnetite, and the mean-site direction (D=5.2 I=6.2 N=7 k=40.15 α95=9.6) suggests a pre-folding event of magnetization.
