-Flavour Violation at the LHC
We study the conditions required for
decays to yield observable tau flavour violation at the LHC, for cosmologically
interesting values of the neutralino relic density. These condition can be
achieved in the framework of a SU(5) model with a see-saw mechanism that allows
a possible coexistence of a LHC signal a low prediction for radiative LFV

Discrete breathers for understanding reconstructive mineral processes at low temperatures
Reconstructive transformations in layered silicates need a high tem- perature
in order to be observed. However, very recently, some systems have been found
where transformation can be studied at temperatures 600 C below the lowest
experimental results previously reported, including sol-gel methods. We explore
the possible relation with the existence of intrinsic localized modes, known as
discrete breathers. We construct a model for nonlinear vibrations within the
cation layer, obtain their parameters and calculate them numerically, obtaining
their energies. Their statistics shows that although there are far less
breathers than phonons, there are much more above the activation energy, being
therefore a good candidate to explain the reconstructive transformations at low

Hmga2 is dispensable for pancreatic cancer development, metastasis, and therapy resistance.
Expression of the chromatin-associated protein HMGA2 correlates with progression, metastasis and therapy resistance in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Hmga2 has also been identified as a marker of a transient subpopulation of PDAC cells that has increased metastatic ability. Here, we characterize the requirement for Hmga2 during growth, dissemination, and metastasis of PDAC in vivo using conditional inactivation of Hmga2 in well-established autochthonous mouse models of PDAC. Overall survival, primary tumour burden, presence of disseminated tumour cells in the peritoneal cavity or circulating tumour cells in the blood, and presence and number of metastases were not significantly different between mice with Hmga2-wildtype or Hmga2-deficient tumours. Treatment of mice with Hmga2-wildtype and Hmga2-deficient tumours with gemcitabine did not uncover a significant impact of Hmga2-deficiency on gemcitabine sensitivity. Hmga1 and Hmga2 overlap in their expression in both human and murine PDAC, however knockdown of Hmga1 in Hmga2-deficient cancer cells also did not decrease metastatic ability. Thus, Hmga2 remains a prognostic marker which identifies a metastatic cancer cell state in primary PDAC, however Hmga2 has limited if any direct functional impact on PDAC progression and therapy resistance
Time After Time: Notes on Delays In Spiking Neural P Systems
Spiking Neural P systems, SNP systems for short, are biologically inspired
computing devices based on how neurons perform computations. SNP systems use
only one type of symbol, the spike, in the computations. Information is encoded
in the time differences of spikes or the multiplicity of spikes produced at
certain times. SNP systems with delays (associated with rules) and those
without delays are two of several Turing complete SNP system variants in
literature. In this work we investigate how restricted forms of SNP systems
with delays can be simulated by SNP systems without delays. We show the
simulations for the following spike routing constructs: sequential, iteration,
