    SNOW REGIME CHARACTERISTICS FOR TOURISM IN THE NATURAL PARK MEDVEDNICA, CROATIA

    Mount Medvednica, situated at the SE edge of the Alps as an isolated mountain presents an attractive destination for large number of visitors during the whole year. Snow regime over Medvednica (about 1000 m high), presents very risky factor in winter tourism. This study investigates snow cover frequency, duration and quantity for the referent period 1961-1990 at different profiles. At the top of Medvednica snow is falling on average on 54 days and at the altitude of 600 m on 30 days, most frequently 41-70 days, and 21-30 days respectively. Snow winter lasts from 121-239 days at the top to 104-186 days at 600 m a.s.l., but not with continuous snow cover. Days with snow cover >= 30 cm, necessary for alpine skiing and snowboarding, appears in 15% days annually at the top and in 7% of days at 600 m, that is a rather short duration for ski season. Snow cover >= 10 cm, necessary for development of cross-country skiing or snow mobiling has been analysed as well. Because of rather short duration of snow cover >= 30 cm, climatological analysis of relations between minimum temperatures and relative humidity have been done as a base for estimation of snow making possibilities at higher altitudes

    Analizirani su relevantni meteoroloŔki parametri za 15 lokacija u Hrvatskoj za razdoblje 1961-1990. To su: srednje mjesečne, sezonske i godiŔnje temperature zraka, najniža i najviŔa srednja dnevna temperatura zraka s podacima o prekoračenju u danima, standardna vanjska temperatura zraka, globalno zračenje, difuzno zračenje, maksimalne dnevne količine oborina, srednje mjesečne, sezonske i godiŔnje količine oborina te vrijednosti relativne vlažnosti zraka i tlaka vodene pare.Relevant meteorological parameters for 15 locations in Croatia are analyzed for the 1961 - 1990 period.     Most climate models anticipate a surface air temperature rise of several degrees Celsius during the next century supposing carbon dioxide (CO2) concentration in the atmosphere is going to double. As a consequence of the Earth\u27s surface warming, a sea level rise of several tens of centimeters can be expected in the same period. These changes will not have the same intensity during the whole year, they will depend on the season and the different parts of the world. In this paper, the influence of these changes on the islands of Cres and LoÅ”inj is considered. A higher increase in annual temperature could be expected (up to 5Ā°C) at the end of the 21th century. A significant change in annual precipitation is not very probable. However, a decrease in precipitation during summer and autumn and an increase during winter and spring has been established. A change in other climatic elements can also be expected

    The Greater Alpine Region (the GAR) covering the area between 4-19Ā°E and 43-50Ā°N and an altitude range between 0 and more than 4000 m asl. offers a challenging climate worth to be studied in any detail. However, it is surprising that up to now no comprehensive Alpine Temperature Climatology covering the whole region is existing. To overcome this deficiency as a first step we want to produce monthly temperature maps for this region in spatial resolution as high as possible. The period under investigation will be 1961-1990. In this paper we will describe the first steps of our initiative as well as the further plans

    Osnovne karakteristike naoblake i insolacije na području SR Hrvatske

    U ovom radu prikazani su neki rezultati istraživanja o režimu naoblake i insolacije na području SR Hrvatske dobiveni na temelju analize podataka naoblake 131 meteoroloÅ”ke stanice iz razdoblja 1961-1980. Uz uobičajene karakteristike naoblake (prostorne raspodjele naoblake, srednje količine naoblake, srednjeg broja oblačnih i vedrih dana) prikazana je po prvi put i statistika dekadnih vrijednosti naoblake, te uzastopno oblačnih i vedrih dana za veliki broj stanica iz kontinentalnog i primorskog dijela Hrvatske. lspitana je ovisnost insolacije o naoblaci na ukupno 37 stanica. Utvrđena je dovoljno jaka veza tih meteoroloÅ”kih elemenata kod većine stanica i gotovo tokom cijele godine, pa su na temelju tih rezultata modificirane karte insolacije dobivene u prvom dijelu istraživanja, i to na onim dijelovima gdje joÅ” ne postoje mjerenja insolacije.
