    Wheat Yield Vulnerability: Relation to Rainfall and Suggestions for Adaptation

    Wheat production is of paramount importance in the region of Meknes, which is mainly produced under rainfed conditions. It is the dominant cereal, the greater proportion being the soft type. During the past few decades, rainfall flaws have caused a number of cases of droughts. These flaws have seriously affecting wheat production. The main objective of this study is the assessment of rainfall variability at monthly, seasonal and annual scales and to determine their impact on wheat yields. To reduce this impact we suggested some mechanisms of adaptation. We used monthly rainfall records for three decades and wheat yields records of fifteen years. Rainfall variability is assessed utilizing the precipitation concentration index and the variation coefficient. The association between wheat yields and cumulative rainfall amounts of different scales was calculated based on a regression model to evaluate the impact of rainfall on wheat yields. Data analysis shown moderate seasonal and irregular annual rainfall distribution. Yields fluctuated from 210 to 4500 Kg/ha with 52% of coefficient of variation. The correlation results shows that soft wheat and hard wheat are strongly correlated with the period of January to March than with the whole growing-season. While they are adversely correlated with the mid-spring. This investigation concluded that synchronizing appropriate adaptation with the period of January to March was crucial to achieving success yield of wheat

    Democratization of the cannabis consumption and its derivatives incite patients to ask ever more for medical cannabinoid prescriptions, especially in the context of chronic pain. Its use is only validated in certain limited cases, in particular spasticity linked to multiple sclerosis and refractory epilepsies. All other prescriptions require a special request to the OFSP. Moreover, cannabinoid intake may produce several dose-dependent side effects that require a close monitoring with a slow and gradual initiation of its dosage. In the absence of clear medical evidence, many other mechanisms of action need to be investigated with ongoing and future studies to clarify their indication

    Our aim was to develop and validate a predictive risk score for bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD), according to two clinically used definitions: 1. Need for supplementary oxygen during ≥ 28 cumulative days, BPD28, 2. Need for supplementary oxygen at 36 weeks postmenstrual age (PMA), BPD36. Logistic regression was performed in a national cohort (infants born in Switzerland with a birth weight < 1501 g and/or between 23 0/7 and 31 6/7 weeks PMA in 2009 and 2010), to identify predictors of BPD. We built the score as the sum of predicting factors, weighted according to their ORs, and analysed its discriminative properties by calculating the area under the ROC (receiver operating characteristic) curves (AUCs). This score was then applied to the Swiss national cohort from the years 2014–2015 to perform external validation. The incidence of BPD28 was 21.6% in the derivation cohort (n = 1488) and 25.2% in the validation cohort (n = 2006). The corresponding numbers for BPD36 were 11.3% and 11.1%, respectively. We identified gestational age, birth weight, antenatal corticosteroids, surfactant administration, proven infection, patent ductus arteriosus and duration of mechanical ventilation as independent predictors of BPD28. The AUCs of the BPD risk scores in the derivation cohort were 0.90 and 0.89 for the BPD28 and BPD36 definitions, respectively. The corresponding AUCs in the validation cohort were 0.92 and 0.88, respectively. Conclusion: This score allows for predicting the risk of a very low birth weight infant to develop BPD early in life and may be a useful tool in clinical practice and neonatal research.     Novel Hybrid 1,2,4- and 1,2,3-Triazoles Targeting Mycobacterium Tuberculosis Enoyl Acyl Carrier Protein Reductase (InhA): Design, Synthesis, and Molecular Docking

    Tuberculosis (TB) caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis is still a serious public health concern around the world. More treatment strategies or more specific molecular targets have been sought by researchers. One of the most important targets is M. tuberculosis’ enoyl-acyl carrier protein reductase InhA which is considered a promising, well-studied target for anti-tuberculosis medication development. Our team has made it a goal to find new lead structures that could be useful in the creation of new antitubercular drugs. In this study, a new class of 1,2,3- and 1,2,4-triazole hybrid compounds was prepared. Click synthesis was used to afford 1,2,3-triazoles scaffold linked to 1,2,4-triazole by fixable mercaptomethylene linker. The new prepared compounds have been characterized by different spectroscopic tools. The designed compounds were tested in vitro against the InhA enzyme. At 10 nM, the inhibitors 5b, 5c, 7c, 7d, 7e, and 7f successfully and totally (100%) inhibited the InhA enzyme. The IC50 values were calculated using different concentrations. With IC50 values of 0.074 and 0.13 nM, 7c and 7e were the most promising InhA inhibitors. Furthermore, a molecular docking investigation was carried out to support antitubercular activity as well as to analyze the binding manner of the screened compounds with the target InhA enzyme’s binding site
