    Dynamic Multi-Objective Optimization With jMetal and Spark: a Case Study

    Technologies for Big Data and Data Science are receiving increasing research interest nowadays. This paper introduces the prototyping architecture of a tool aimed to solve Big Data Optimization problems. Our tool combines the jMetal framework for multi-objective optimization with Apache Spark, a technology that is gaining momentum. In particular, we make use of the streaming facilities of Spark to feed an optimization problem with data from different sources. We demonstrate the use of our tool by solving a dynamic bi-objective instance of the Traveling Salesman Problem (TSP) based on near real-time traffic data from New York City, which is updated several times per minute. Our experiment shows that both jMetal and Spark can be integrated providing a software platform to deal with dynamic multi-optimization problems.Universidad de Málaga.     Signature of strong atom-cavity interaction on critical coupling

    We study a critically coupled cavity doped with resonant atoms with metamaterial slabs as mirrors. We show how resonant atom-cavity interaction can lead to a splitting of the critical coupling dip.     Traditional Livestock Production and Growth Opportunities in India

    Livestock and animal health development projects need to be based on an understanding of livestock production systems because different systems need different approaches particularly in view of degradation of environment combined with population pressure. In India, the livestock production system is primarily traditional, consisting of mixed-farming and pastoral systems, therefore, development of marginal and smallholder mixed farms must aim at intensification of the total production system. Resource-poor farming systems may aim at the improved management of the various livestock species in backyards. Pastoral systems must focus on effective management of grazing pressure. Community pasture management involves application of technologies, land tenure policies, institutional development, economic return and a reduction in the number of people depending upon livestock. The challenge is to reverse the current degradation of the environment, and arrive at sustainable increases in crop and livestock production to secure present and future food supplies

    Translational Entanglement of Dipole-Dipole Interacting Atoms in Optical Lattices

    We propose and investigate a realization of the position- and momentum-correlated Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) states [Phys. Rev. 47, 777 (1935)] that have hitherto eluded detection. The realization involves atom pairs that are confined to adjacent sites of two mutually shifted optical lattices and are entangled via laser-induced dipole-dipole interactions. The EPR "paradox" with translational variables is then modified by lattice-diffraction effects, and can be verified to a high degree of accuracy in this scheme.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figures, to be published in PR

    Anisotropic strange stars in Tolman-Kuchowicz spacetime

    We attempt to study a singularity-free model for the spherically symmetric anisotropic strange stars under Einstein's general theory of relativity by exploiting the Tolman-Kuchowicz metric. Further, we have assumed that the cosmological constant Λ\Lambda is a scalar variable dependent on the spatial coordinate rr. To describe the strange star candidates we have considered that they are made of strange quark matter (SQM) distribution, which is assumed to be governed by the MIT bag equation of state. To obtain unknown constants of the stellar system we match the interior Tolman-Kuchowicz metric to the exterior modified Schwarzschild metric with the cosmological constant, at the surface of the system. Following Deb et al. we have predicted the exact values of the radii for different strange star candidates based on the observed values of the masses of the stellar objects and the chosen parametric values of the Λ\Lambda as well as the bag constant B\mathcal{B}. The set of solutions satisfies all the physical requirements to represent strange stars. Interestingly, our study reveals that as the values of the Λ\Lambda and B\mathcal{B} increase the anisotropic system becomes gradually smaller in size turning the whole system into a more compact ultra-dense stellar object.Comment: 18 pages, 10 figure

    Mesonic Excitations of QGP: Study with an Effective Model

    We study the correlations between quark-antiquark pairs in different quantum number channels in a deconfined plasma by using an effective model of QCD. Using the three flavour PNJL model, the finite temperature spectral functions for different mesonic states are studied at zero and nonzero quark chemical potentials. It is found that in the η\eta channel resonance structures survive above the chiral transition temperature \tc, while the kaonic states seem to get washed off just above \tc. The sensitivity of the structures to the anomaly term are carefully investigated.Comment: 15page
