The article describes the theoretical foundations of environmental education students and especially environmental education: the formation of environmental performances; the development of ronmental consciousness and feelings; the formation of beliefs in the necessity of environmental performance; develop the skills and habits of behavior in nature
Radioiodinated Phenylalkyl Malonic Acid Derivatives as pH-Sensitive SPECT Tracers
pH imaging has been a field of interest for molecular imaging for many years. This is especially important for determining tumor acidity, an important driving force of tumor invasion and metastasis formation, but also in the process of apoptosis.I]IPM was evaluated in an anti-Fas monoclonal antibody (mAb) apoptosis model. In addition a mouse RIF-1 tumor model was explored in which tumor pH was decreased from 7.0 to 6.5 by means of induction of hyperglycemia in combination with administration of meta-iodobenzylguanidine.I]IPM showed a clear pH-related uptake pattern in the RIF-1 tumor model. which allows to visualize regional acidosis. However, these compounds are not suitable for detection of apoptosis due to a poor acidosis effect
Iowa Influenza Surveillance Network: Weekly Activity Report, Weeks 40, October 8, 2016
The Iowa Influenza Surveillance Network (IISN) was established in 2004, though surveillance has been conducted at the Iowa Department of Public Health.
Schools and long-term care facilities report data weekly into a Web-based reporting system. Schools report the number of students absent due to illness and the total enrolled. Long-term care facilities report cases of influenza and vaccination status of each case. Both passively report outbreaks of illness, including influenza, to IDPH
Cellular dosimetry of [177Lu]Lu-DOTA-[Tyr3]octreotate radionuclide therapy: the impact of modeling assumptions on the correlation with in vitro cytotoxicity
Background: Survival and linear-quadratic model fitting parameters implemented in treatment planning for targeted radionuclide therapy depend on accurate cellular dosimetry. Therefore, we have built a refined cellular dosimetry model for [177Lu]Lu-DOTA-[Tyr3]octreotate (177Lu-DOTATATE) in vitro experiments, accounting for specific cell morphologies and sub-cellular radioactivity distributions. Methods: Time activity curves were measured and modeled for medium, membrane-bound, and internalized activity fractions over 6 days. Clonogenic survival assays were performed at various added activities (0.1–2.5 MBq/ml). 3D microscopy images (stained for cytoplasm, nucleus, and Golgi) were used as reference for developing polygonal meshes (PM) in 3DsMax to accurately render the cellular and organelle geometry. Absorbed doses to the nucleus per decay (S values) were calculated for 3 cellular morphologies: spheres (MIRDcell), truncated cone-shaped constructive solid geometry (CSG within MCNP6.1), and realistic PM models, using Geant4-10.03. The geometrical set-up of the clonogenic survival assays was modeled, including dynamic changes in proliferation, proximity variations, and cell death. The absorbed dose to the nucleus by the radioactive source cell (self-dose) and surrounding source cells (cross-dose) was calculated applying the MIRD formalism. Finally, the correlation between absorbed dose and survival fraction was fitted using a linear dose-response curve (high α/β or fast sub-lethal damage repair half-life) for different assumptions, related to cellular sha
The work is devoted to a new branch of production and materials science - the study of materials obtained by additive production methods. The purpose of this work was a comparative analysis of differences in the structure, mechanical properties and interaction with hydrogen of a titanium alloy VT6 obtained by the traditional method and the additive production method (EBM). The results obtained in the work indicate the difference between the properties of materials obtained by traditional methods and additive production methods
Unsteady turbulence in tidal bores: Effects of bed roughness
A tidal bore is a wave propagating upstream as the tidal flow turns to rising. It forms during spring tide conditions when the flood tide is confined to a narrow funneled channel. To date, theoretical and numerical studies rely upon physical experiments to validate the developments, but the experimental data are limited mostly to visual observations and sometimes free-surface measurements. Herein turbulent velocity measurements were obtained in a large-size laboratory facility with a fine spatial and temporal resolution. The instantaneous velocity measurements showed rapid flow deceleration at all vertical elevations, and large fluctuations of all velocity components were recorded beneath the bore and secondary waves. A comparison between undular (nonbreaking) and breaking bores suggested some basic differences. In an undular bore, large velocity fluctuations were recorded beneath the first wave crest and the secondary waves showing a long-lasting effect after the bore passage. In a breaking bore, some large turbulent stresses were observed next to the shear zone in a region of high velocity gradients, while some transient flow recirculation was recorded next to the bed. The effects of bed roughness were tested further. The boundary friction contributed to some wave attenuation and dispersion, and the free-surface data showed some agreement with the wave dispersion theory for intermediate gravity waves. The instantaneous velocity data showed however a significant effect of the boundary roughness on the velocity field next to the boundary (z/d(o)< 0.2) for both undular and breaking bores. Overall the findings were consistent with field observations of tidal bores and highlighted the significant impact of undular (nonbreaking) bores on natural systems
Nutritional interventions to improve muscle mass, muscle strength, and physical performance in older people: an umbrella review of systematic reviews and meta-analyses
peer reviewedContext: Sarcopenia is a progressive and generalized skeletal muscle disorder associated
with an increased risk of adverse outcomes such as falls, disability, and
death. The Belgian Society of Gerontology and Geriatrics has developed evidencebased
guidelines for the prevention and treatment of sarcopenia. This umbrella review
presents the results of the Working Group on Nutritional Interventions.
Objective: The aim of this umbrella review was to provide an evidence-based overview
of nutritional interventions targeting sarcopenia or at least 1 of the 3 sarcopenia
criteria (ie, muscle mass, muscle strength, or physical performance) in persons
aged 65 years. Data sources: Following the Preferred Reporting Items for
Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines, the PubMed and Web of Science
databases were searched for systematic reviews and meta-analyses reporting the
effect of nutritional supplementation on sarcopenia or muscle mass, strength, or
physical performance. Data extraction: Two authors extracted data on the key
characteristics of the reviews, including participants, treatment, and outcomes.
Methodological quality of the reviews was assessed using the product A
Measurement Tool to Assess Systematic Reviews. Three authors synthesized the
extracted data and generated recommendations on the basis of an overall synthesis
of the effects of each intervention. Quality of evidence was rated with the
Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation approach.
Data analysis: A total of 15 systematic reviews were included. The following
supplements were examined: proteins, essential amino acids, leucine, b-hydroxy-b-methylbutyrate, creatine, and multinutrient supplementation (with or
without physical exercise). Because of both the low amount and the low to moderate
quality of the reviews, the level of evidence supporting most recommendations
was low to moderate. Conclusions: Best evidence is available to recommend
leucine, because it has a significant effect on muscle mass in elderly people with
sarcopenia. Protein supplementation on top of resistance training is recommended
to increase muscle mass and strength, in particular for obese persons and for
>=24weeks. Effects on sarcopenia as a construct were not reported in the included
reviews
