    Current state of cloud computing risk assessment in Malaysian private sector

    The potential benefits of cloud computing, such as flexibility and cost-effective, have attracted many companies to use it. Nevertheless, security issues are still prominent in cloud computing. Measuring the security of cloud computing can be effectively implemented by performing cloud computing risk assessments. Since the traditional risk assessment method is no longer applicable to cloud computing, the effective method in assessing cloud computing becomes the debated issues among scholars. This study reveals the current state of cloud computing risk assessment conducted in the private sector in Malaysia.     Ameliorative Potential of L-Alanyl L-Glutamine Dipeptide in Colon Cancer Patients Receiving Modified FOLFOX-6 Regarding the Incidence of Diarrhea, the Treatment Response, and Patients’ Survival: A Randomized Controlled Trial

    Background and Objectives: Diarrhea induced by chemotherapy may represent a life-threatening adverse effect in cancer patients receiving chemotherapy. FOLFOX, an effective treatment for colon cancer, has been associated with diarrhea with high severity, particularly with higher doses. Management of diarrhea is crucial to increase the survival of cancer patients and to improve the quality of life. Glutamine is an abundant protein peptide found in blood and has a crucial role in boosting immunity, increasing protein anabolism, and decreasing the inflammatory effects of chemotherapy on the mucosal membranes, including diarrhea. This study aimed to provide evidence that parenteral L-alanyl L-glutamine dipeptide may have a positive influence on the incidence of diarrhea, treatment response, and the overall survival in colon cancer patients treated with modified FOLFOX-6 (mFOLFOX-6). Materials and Methods: Forty-four stage II and III colon cancer patients were included in this study where they were treated with the standard colon cancer chemotherapy mFOLFOX-6 and were randomly allocated into glutamine group and placebo group, each of 22 patients. Results: L-alanyl L-glutamine dipeptide was found to be significantly effective in decreasing the frequency and severity of diarrhea when compared to the placebo group, particularly after four and six cycles of mFOLFOX-6. There was no significant difference between the studied groups regarding to the overall survival. Conclusion: L-alanyl L-glutamine dipeptide can be considered as an add-on with chemotherapy to improve the quality of life and the overall survival of colon cancer patients

    Software engineering for multi-tenancy computing challenges and implications

    Multi-tenancy is a cloud computing phenomenon. Multiple instances of an application occupy and share resources from a large pool, allowing different users to have their own version of the same application running and coexisting on the same hardware but in isolated virtual spaces. In this position paper we survey the current landscape of multi-tenancy, laying out the challenges and complexity of software engineering where multi-tenancy issues are involved. Multitenancy allows cloud service providers to better utilise computing resources, supporting the development of more exible services to customers based on economy of scale, reducing overheads and infrastructural costs. Nevertheless, there are major challenges in migration from single tenant applications to multi-tenancy. These have not been fully explored in research or practice to date. In particular, the reengineering effort of multi-tenancy in Software-as-a-Service cloud applications requires many complex and important aspects that should be taken into consideration, such as security, scalability, scheduling, data isolation, etc. Our study emphasizes scheduling policies and cloud provisioning and deployment with regards to multi-tenancy issues. We employ CloudSim and MapReduce in our experiments to simulate and analyse multi-tenancy models, scenarios, performance, scalability, scheduling and reliability on cloud platforms

    A validation of security determinants model for cloud adoption in Saudi organisations’ context

    Governments across the world are starting to make a dynamic shift to cloud computing so as to increase efficiency. Although, the cloud technology brings various benefits for government organisations, including flexibility and low cost, adopting it with the existing system is not an easy task. In this regard, the most significant challenge to any government agency is security concern. Our previous study focused to identify security factors that influence decision of government organisations to adopt cloud. This research enhances the previous work by investigating on the impact of various independent security related factors on the adopted security taxonomy based on critical ratio, standard error and significance levels. Data was collected from IT and security experts in the government organisations of Saudi Arabia. The Analysis of Moment Structures (AMOS) tool was used in this research for data analysis. Critical ratio reveals the importance of Security Benefits, Risks and Awareness Taxonomies on cloud adoption. Also, most of the exogenous variables had strong and positive relationships with their fellow exogenous variables. In future, this taxonomy model can also be applied for studying the adoption of new IT innovations whose IT architecture is similar to that of the cloud.N/
