    Get PDF
In this project an ECG signal processing module will be implemented in VHDL on FPGA platform. The digital filtering will be carried out with low pass FIR architecture. Filters shall filter the 50 Hz coupled noise and other high frequency noises. The filtered signal is subjected to Short Time Fourier transform by which lot of inferences can be made by medical experts. A recorded ECG signal will be used as test input to test the modules implemented on FPGA. The Modelsim Xilinx Edition and Xilinx Integrated Software Environment will be used simulation and synthesis respectively. The Xilinx Chipscope tool will be used to test the results, while the logic running on FPGA. The Xilinx Spartan 3 Family FPGA development board will be used this project

Performance Evaluation of AODV and FSR Routing Protocols in MANETs

A mobilead hoc Network (MANET) is an infrastructure less, decentralized multi-hop network where the mobile nodes are free to move randomly, these making the network topology dynamic. MANET routing protocols show different performance in different mobile network scenarios. In this paper an attempt has been made to understand the characteristics/behavior of ad hoc on demand distance vector (AODV) and Fisheye State Routing (FSR)protocols. The analysis of these protocols has been done using NS-2

Design of Microstrip Antennas for Wideband Applications

    Get PDF
Microstrip or patch antennas are getting to be progressively valuable on the grounds that they can be printed specifically onto a circuit board. They are broadly utilized as a part of flying machines, satellites, mobile, wireless application where size, weight, cost, ease of installation, aerodynamic profile are constraints, low profile like microstrip antennas may be needed. Hence design and development of cost effective and superior microstrip patch antenna has become an active research area. The size reduction and impedance bandwidth improvement lies in great importance in today’s life. This thesis presents design of microstrip antennas for wireless applications. Four antennas designed are presented in the following chapters. The first design is a compact dual band microstrip antenna which produces dual band characteristics. The second design is a compact wideband microstrip antenna that has wideband characteristics which have applications in health care, medical field like health monitoring and imaging in intensive health care units, pediatric units, emergency situation like heart beat rescue. The third one is the Design of circularly polarized microstrip patch antenna using a pair of inserted slits. The fourth one is the design of hexagonal shaped patch antenna using coplanar waveguide feed. The antennas designed above have better radiation characteristics with improved bandwidth

Marketing Mix Strategies of Retailing and Buyers Behavior towards FMCG-A Study in Bangalore

The purpose of the study is to examine the general shopping behavior includes such variables as days of the week, presence of a shopping list, period of shopping and shopping with a credit card. It also included variables like whether people thought themselves to be impulse purchasers and also if they thought themselves to be impulse purchasers. To investigate the relationship between the touching and cognitive processes on impulse buying among consumers. and also to evaluate the effects of various demographic segments of customers. This leads us to conclude that consumers most often have an irresistible urge to buy, suffer from emotional conflict, manage their moods and like to increase their pleasurable moods states while indulging in impulse purchases. It may be concluded that the number of members in the family does not have a significant impact on cognitive deliberation with respect to impulse buyin

Comparative Analysis of common Edge Detection Algorithms using Pre-processing Technique

    Get PDF
Edge detection is the process of segmenting an image by detecting discontinuities in brightness. So far, several standard segmentation methods have been widely used for edge detection. However, due to inherent quality of images, these methods prove ineffective if they are applied without any preprocessing. In this paper, an image preprocessing approach has been adopted in order to get certain parameters that are useful to perform better edge detection with the standard edge detection methods. The proposed preprocessing approach involves median filtering to reduce the noise in image and then Edge Detection technique is carried out. And atlast Standard edge detection methods can be applied to the resultant preprocessing image and its Simulation results are show that our preprocessed approach when used with a standard edge detection method enhances its performance

    Network-Attached Storage: Data Storage Applications

    Get PDF
This paper is a work on completely backing up disk files on client server/cloud drives. This paper contains objectives, introduction, literature review, methodology, hardware and software required, application and references. NAS (Network-attached storage) is a data storage, which is connected to a computer network. NAS acts a file server in a network, offering data storage to be located in a stand-alone network, which client computers can be connected. NAS can be seen as a computer drive (via ethernet) and as such, it can be used to save documents and files and as well as read them.NAS is specialized for serving files either by its hardware, software, or configuration. It is often manufactured as a computer appliance – a purpose-built specialized computer. NAS systems are networked appliances that contain one or more storage drives, often arranged into logical, redundant storage containers or RAID. Network-attached storage removes the responsibility of file serving from other servers on the network. As businesses and industries keep growing and technology is advancing the need for drivers for accessing data quickly has become a necessity, hence many drivers have been introduced and implemented in different fields as this paper adopts those concepts. As to any situation or a gift of science , there is always two sides to it, yes, pros and consequences. NAS systems will always have a growing and increasing potential as long as technology continues to grow for the need of storing large amounts of data and also the desire of accessing them quickly for a smooth and efficient working space.&nbsp

Adaptive Modulation based MIMO-OFDM Receiver design for Underwater Acoustic Communication

    Get PDF
Adaptive modulation (AM) technique may make more promote in the execution of wireless communication systems through adaptively conformity transmitter parameters to fading channels; therefore, it has been taken as one of the key physical techniques in underwater acoustic communication. This paper offers a general overview of the adaptive modulation scheme in wireless multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems with Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM). Study a set of properties by which adaptive modulation systems are evaluated, and also, discuss modulation schemes, channel modeling and estimation in detail since it is utilized in most current system or solutions, as well survey some MIMO models which are included in adaptive modulation activities in order to enhance the data rate and throughput. In this work, the channel is estimated using Kalman filter. Kalman Filter (KF) is a well-known algorithm for estimation and prediction especially when data has a lot of noise. The EKF is also considered to be the de-facto standard. This paper will provide the idea of MIMO-OFDM receiver design using Adaptive modulation and channel estimation for underwater acoustic communication

Pre-operative fixed flexion deformity a curse to the knee arthroplasty surgeon?

    Get PDF
Background: The aim of the study was to study the effect of preoperative flexion deformity on the postoperative knee range of motion following total knee arthroplasty. Methods: A total of 28 knees were studied out of which twenty were osteoarthritis and eight were rheumatoid arthritis. Cruciate substituting and cruciate retaining implants were used. Patients above the age of 45 years with a minimum follow up period of two years from April 2010 were studied. Results: 28 knees had an average preoperative range of motion of 87.678. Patients with preoperative flexion deformity had postoperative range of motion of 97.5 degrees. The average postoperative flexion in 8 rheumatoid patients was 96.25 and 20 osteoarthritis patients was 107.462.Conclusions: The average postoperative range of motion was 105.538. Patients with a higher pre-operative range of motion had higher postoperative range of motion. Rheumatoid patients had a significantly low range of motion when compared to osteoarthritis patients. Patients with increased fixed flexion deformity had a significantly low postoperative range of motion
