    Ekstraksi Magnetik pada Methanol-Soap Bathed Muds

    Telah ditemukan metode ekstraksi yang efektif untuk conto lumpur yang merupakan pengembangan dari metode magnetic finger. Ekstraksi ini dilakukan dalam rangka memisahkan mineral magnetik dari lumpur dan mineral lainnya, sehingga didapatkan mineral magnetik murni tanpa merusak bulir yang ada. Pada paper ini akan dibahas suatu metode ekstraksi yang disebut dengan metode methanol-soap bath. Pada metoda ini sebagai pengganti penggerusan, lumpur yang diekstrak dicuci dengan campuran sabun dan methanol. Pencucian dengan campuran sabun-methanol bertujuan untuk menghilangkan ikatan antara mineral magnetik dengan mineral non-magnetik pada conto. Keuntungan menggunakan metode ini adalah bahwa bulir magnetic yang didapatkan tidak mengalami kerusakan serta waktu yang dibutuhkan lebih cepat. Untuk membuktikan keberadaan mineral magnetic dalam conto yang sudah diobservasi dengan metode kemagnetan batuan sama dengan hasil ekstraksi maka mineral magnetik hasil ekstraksi tersebut diukur dengan metode lain yaitu metode XRD dan SEM-EDAX. Ternyata dari hasil pengukuran dengan XRD dan SEM juga didapatkan mineral magnetik dari jenis oksida besi dan sulfide besi. Dengan demikian metode methanol-soap bath ini secara efektif dapat digunakan untuk mengekstrak atau memisahkan mineral magnetik dari mineral non-magnetik

    This descriptive research was aimed to find out the ability of the first year students of SMAN 3Pekanbaru in writing procedure texts. The research data were collected in September 2016. The subject of this research was class X IPA 4 which consisted of 32 students. The data were collected by giving a writing test to the students.Based on the research, it was found out that first: the ability of the first year students in writing procedure texts is in good level with the mean score of 63.00. Second, the students' mean score in terms of grammar is in moderate level with the mean score of 49.17, in terms of organization is in good level with the mean score of 78.75, in terms of mechanic is in good level with the mean score of 61.45, in terms of vocabulary is in moderate level with the mean score of 48.33, in terms of fluency is in good level with the mean score of79.37. As a conclusion, the highest score obtained by the students is in terms of fluency with the mean score of 79.37 which is categorized into good level, and the lowest score that the students got is in terms of vocabulary the mean score of 48.33 which is categorized into moderate level. English teacher may develop the students' motivation and encourage them to learn more about procedure texts as a practice of writing procedure texts in order to make the students familiar with writing materials. For next researcher, the writer suggests that to conduct other research in this school

    This study was about the application of guessing games technique in speaking ability of the first year students. The aim of this study was to find out the improvement students' speaking ability through guessing games technique at MTS Hassanah and to find out the effectiveness of guessing games technique in improving students' speaking ability. 24 out of 120 students were chosen through cluster random technique sampling. The analysis was based on giving oral test to the students. It was found that there were significant improvement; 4 students (16.7%) were in excellent level, 20 students (83.3%) were in good level, and there is no students in mediocre, poor and very poor level. It implies that the students' ability falls into good ability level. Based on the result, it is recommended that teachers pay attention more to the students about how to speak English well. It is also important to apply games especially guessing game in the term of motivating the students so that they are brave to speak up and fun to learn English

    A Study on T He Ability of the First Year Students of Smk Farmasi Ikasari Pekanbaru in Identifying the Use of Pronouns in Reading Text

    This study is aimed to describe the level of the first year students' ability of SMK Farmasi Ikasari Pekanbaru in identifying the use of pronouns in reading text. The design of this research is descriptive research, which has one variable to observe. This research used quantitative data, where the students were assessed by their score. To determine the sample, this research used cluster random sampling technique. The population of this research was X 1 Analisis Kesehatan in the academic year 2016/2017. The total number of population was 306 students. There were 26 students chosen as the samples of this research. The instruments of the research were 40 multiple choice questions. In collecting the data this research used written test and it had to be done in 100 minutes. All of the short stories are taken from English text book and internet. Based on the result of the research, there were 2 students (7.7%) in excellent ability level, 18 students (69.2%) who were in good ability level, 3 students (11.5%) who were in average level. Then, there were 3 students (11.5%) who were in poor level. In other words, the first year students of SMK Farmasi Ikasari Pekanbaru ability level are categorized in average level. Moreover, from the result found, the students' ability is in average level with the mean score 64.

    The Correlation Between Reading Comprehension and Writing Ability of the Second Year Students of Sman 1 Muaro Sentajo Teluk Kuantan in Recount Texts

    The objective of this research is to find out the level of students\u27 ability in reading comprehension and writing ability in recount texts and the correlation between those variables of the second year students of SMAN 1 Muaro Sentajo. The sample of this research was class XI IPS 2 which consist 25 students. The data were collected by using two kinds of test, reading comprehension and written test. The result of this research showed that the students got good level with the average score 73.28 in reading comprehension, and in writing the students got good level with the average score 76.12. The result of this research proved that there is a positive correlation between reading comprehension and writing ability on recount texts. The rxy distribution of coefficient correlation is 0.8. It means that the correlation was in a high level. So, Ha (alternative hypothesis) of this research is accepted, and null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. Is there any difference between students\u27 reading and writing score? So, the researcher try to find out students\u27 reading and writing score and their correlation. Finally, the researcher suggests for the teacher, they should have some efforts to develop the students\u27 motivation and encourage them to practice their reading comprehension and writing ability in recount texts

    The Effect of Three Stage Fishbowl Decision Strategy in Comprehending Narrative Texts by the Second Year Students of Sman 2 Kuantan Hilir

    The aim of this experimental research was to know the effectiveness of the Three Stage Fishbowl Decision Strategy in comprehending such a reading text as narrative texts. The subject of this research were 46 second year students of SMAN 2 Kuantan Hilir, it consisted of two classes; Experimental class and control class. In this research, the data were collected through two ways: Pre-test and Post-test. The findings showed that the application of three stage fishbowl decision strategy can affect the students in comprehending narrative texts. At the pre-test, the average score of students in experimental class and control class was 58.61 and 58.78. At the post-test, the average score of experimental class and control class was 75.13 and 61.39.It showed us that the post-test of experimental class was higher than control class. Based on the result of the research, English teacher are suggested to use three stage fishbowl decision strategy to affect the students in comprehending narrative texts
