Minor head injury in the Republic of Ireland : evaluation of written information given at discharge from emergency departments
Most patients presenting to the emergency department with minor head injuries are discharged with written information. Here the quality of minor head injury discharge leaflets in the Republic of Ireland is evaluated against a nationally accepted template. There was great variability in leaflet content. Most provided minimal information on emergency symptoms but 60% contained no information on post-concussional symptoms. No leaflet was available in audio-format or languages other than English. Information provided in minor head injury leaflets should be improved and standardised across Ireland
EASTInternational (2009)
The curation of the international open-submission exhibition āEASTinternational 2009ā reflected a diverging range of capitalist and anti-capitalist ideological influences on artists East and West two decades after the end of the Cold War, identified and developed by Morris with exhibition selectors Lukasz Gorczyca and Michal Kaczynski of Raster Gallery Warsaw and Art & Language. Artists selected included Whipps, who focused on British Leyland (derelict in Birmingham yet prospering in China); Barbara Walker, who drew her son on blown-up police search records; and Laure Prouvost, whose surreal signage echoed David Jacquesās anarchist banners, Olaf Brzeskiās World War II horror film and Corin Swornās teenage hell.
āEASTinternational 2009ā has been held at Norwich University of the Arts since 1991, providing between 25 to 35 artists, based internationally, in London and the British regions, with a one-person show in Norwich for each exhibition. Several artists who exhibited in āEASTinternational 2009ā have since made notable achievements, indicating the influence of the exhibition in introducing new talent to the international art scene. Prouvost was nominated for the Turner Prize in 2013, Prouvost and Corin Sworn were shortlisted for the Jarman Award for UK artist-filmmakers in 2011 and 2012, and Agnieszka Kurant represented Poland at the 2010 āVenice International Architecture Exhibitionā.
The East of England Development Agency, Polish Government and Arts Council England supported the selectors, with a budget approaching Ā£200,000. The exhibition was presented through the Contemporary Art Norwich initiative, which Morris encouraged to adopt a Polish theme, develop cross-national dialogues and produce the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts āTadeus Kantorā exhibition. āEASTinternational 2009ā films toured ten UK artist co-operatives and international groups hosted by previous āEASTinternationalā artists. A ā¬103,000 EU Culture and Arts Council England project was developed to build on āEASTinternational 2009ā, supporting a network of artistsā exhibitions in Norwich, Krakow and Budapest

Vanley Burke By the Rivers of Birminam (2012)
This exhibition of Vanley Burkeās 100 photographs of the Jamaican Community in Handsworth from 1960 to 2011 was curated by Morris, who also compiled a substantial text from press stories about the Birmingham Jamaican Community 1954-2008 for the exhibition catalogue, covering prejudice in housing, jobs, schooling, health services and the police. The exhibition of Burkeās photographs showed the bonding of Caribbean families, survivors of the journeys from Africa and slavery.
The raw files collated from newspapers by Morris are now being circulated around Birmingham Schools. Eddie Chambers, Assistant Professor of Art History at the University of Texas, Austin and from the Jamaican community in Birmingham, was invited to write the introduction to the catalogue. Morris and Chambersā earlier research was published in āBritish Art in a Century of Immigrationā Third Text 15 (1991). This research has been instrumental in Morrisās development of āPicasso Peace and Freedomā and āPicasso: Modernity and Africa 1944-73ā. Working with Burke enabled Morris to discuss her research with West Indian artists and participants in the āBLK Art Group Conferenceā, University of Wolverhampton (27 October 2012), which was integrated with the Burke exhibition. Morris and Burke presented the ideas underpinning the research in an exhibition film produced by MAC (2012).
The research was informed by early exhibitions curated by Morris of Eugene Palmer, Maxine Walker, Mary Evans, Uzo Egonu, Yinka Shonibare, Hurvin Anderson, Hew Locke, Harold Offah, Barbara Walker and Jannette Parris. Keith Piper selected āEASTinternational 2000ā and Morris worked with Piper to select the New Art West Midlands exhibition for Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, the Barber Institute of Fine Art Birmingham University and Grand Union (15 February to 19 May 2013). Mark Steeleās Radio 4 City Programme (October 2012) focused on Handsworth, featuring Burke as a guide and using stories from Morrisās newspaper compilation
Improving Social Interactions Between Learning Disabled Adolescents and Teachers: A Child Effects Approach
This research was published by the KU Center for Research on Learning, formerly known as the University of Kansas Institute for Research in Learning Disabilities. This study investigated whether LD adolescents could be taught to change their classroom behavior in ways that would effect how their teachers treated them and whether they could be taught to generalize positive changes in their interactions with teachers. Six LD junior high students were taught three social skills: initiating positive interactions, responding to requests, and recruiting attention for individual help. The students were successful in learning the social skills in the training session; however, they did not exhibit these skills on a consistent basis in their classroom. Teachers perceived the subjects' classroom behavior as more appropriate
Interactions Between Teachers and Learning Disabled and Non-Learning Disabled Adolescents
This research was published by the KU Center for Research on Learning, formerly known as the University of Kansas Institute for Research in Learning Disabilities.A number of recent studies with learning disabled children have suggested that they may have poor social skills; however, research with LD adolescents in school settings has reported few differences in LD and non-LD student-teacher interactions . In this study, an observational measurement system was used to examine interactions of LD students and their teachers and to compare these interactions with those of their normal peers . The students' perceptions of their classroom interactions were also assessed. No significant differences between LD student-teacher and NLD student-teacher interactions were observed . In addition, LD and NLD students exhibited similar perceptions of their interactions with their teachers
