Status of UCN Source at WWR-M Reactor

    Get PDF
The WWR-M reactor at PNPI is going to be equipped with an ultacold neutron source of high density. Method of UCN production is based on their accumulation in the super fluid helium due to particular qualities of that quantum liquid. The possibility of maintaining the temperature T = 1.371K with a thermal load of P = 60W was shown experimentally, while the theoretical load is expected to be P=30W. The project envisages the installation on UCN beams the experimental setups of various research projects such as searching for the nEDM, measure the neutron lifetime, and the observation of neutron to antineutron oscillation. In addition to UCN beams, three beams of cold and verycold neutrons are planned. Six experimental setups will be installed on these beams. At present, a vacuum container of the UCN source has been manufactured and the manufacture of low-temperature deuterium and helium parts of the source has been started

Project of NNbar Experiment at the WWR-M Reactor

Supersource of ultracold neutrons on the basis of superfluid helium is under construction in PNPI NRC KI. It must provide UCN density 2-3 orders of magnitude higher than existing sources. For the new source we propose an experiment on search for neutron–antineutron oscillations based on the storage of ultracold neutrons in a material trap. The sensitivity of the experiment mostly depends on the trap size and the amount of UCN in it. The results of simulations of the designed experimental scheme show that the sensitivity can be increased by ∼ 10–40 times compared to sensitivity of previous experiment depending on the model of neutron reflection from walls

Review of Epidemiological Situation on Brucellosis in the Russian Federation in 2015 and Prognosis for 2016

    Get PDF
Given are the results of assessment of epidemiological and epizootiological situation on brucellosis in the Russian Federation in 2015. It is characterized as challenging. Compared to 2014 (368 cases, intensive index - 0.26), recorded is 5.1 % increase in the number of people infected with brucellosis (393 cases, intensive index - 0.27). The highest incidence rates among the population are registered in the North-Caucasian, Southern and Siberian Federal Districts, where the main source of infection is cattle and small ruminants. Revealed is a significant rise in brucellosis incidence in the Stavropol region too. External epidemiological risks, associated with the intensification of cooperation in the supply of livestock products from the Mediterranean countries, Middle East, and South America, which are endemic as regards cattle brucellosis, will remain pressing. Given the sustained adverse epidemiological and epizootic situation, taking into account the internal and external risks of infection with brucellosis, brucellosis incidence among the population is predicted to be within the range of 390-420 cases

Development of Algorithm for Identification of Brucellosis Agent Cultures Using MALDI-TOF Mass-Spectrometry

Given are the results of direct protein profiling of brucella strain collection using matrix laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass-spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS). Standardized is the method for brucellosis agent culture disinfection and subsequent assessment. Obtained are 59 representative protein profiles of six major species ( B. melitensis, B. abortus, B. canis, B. ovis, B. neotomae ), which are included into electronic database of mass-spectra, integrated in Biotyper v 3.0 software (Bruker Daltonics, Germany). Analysis of mass-spectra of brucella strains under investigation revealed 17 genus-specific fragments within the mass range of 2000-20000 Da, the combination of which can be used for Brucella spp . identification. In addition, described are the fragments, specific for certain brucella species and strains, promising as markers for intraspecific differentiation. Based on the data received developed is a standardized algorithm of identification and differentiation of brucellosis agent cultures applying MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry

Improvement of the Epidemiological Surveillance over Brucellosis Using GIS-Technologies

    Get PDF
Put forward is the method of usage of Arc GIS 10 software product for epidemiological surveillance over brucellosis in the Stavropol region (SR). Designed is the structure of databases on epidemiology and epizootiology of brucellosis in the constituent entity of the Russian Federation. Constructed are two databases (Epidemiology of brucellosis in the SR and Epizootiology of brucellosis in the SR) compatible with Arc GIS 10. Carried out is the zoning of the SR territories based on assessment of the risk of infecting with brucellosis, using Arc GIS computer program

Brucellosis Epidemiological Situation and Its Morbidity in the Russian Federation in 2011, and Prognosis for 2012

Presented is the analysis of brucellosis morbidity, both in humans and animals, in the Russian Federation in 2007-2011. Evaluated is epizootic and epidemic situation on the disease. Epidemiological situation on brucellosis in the Russian Federation remains unfavorable and has a tendency to deterioration. Moreover, it is expected that the incidence of brucellosis in humans will rise in 2012

Management of Work and Procedure for the Laboratory Diagnostics of Infectious Diseases during the Winter XXII Olympics and XI Paralympics, 2014

    Get PDF
Analyzed is the management system for laboratory diagnostics of infectious diseases during the XXII Olympics and XI Paralympics, 2014 in Sochi. Reviewed is piece of work, executed in the pre-Olympic period as regards provision of laboratory facilities deployed for clinical material investigation, development of normative and regulatory documentation which considers peculiarities of the situation, identification of diagnostic capacities of the laboratories, and forecasting of the probable volume of laboratory studies by reference to various groups of infections. Put forward is the procedure for arrangement of work at the different stages of laboratory diagnostics, cooperation and response in case of emergency situation in the sphere of sanitary-epidemiological welfare of the population. Discussed is the role of geo-information system and current means of monitoring over epidemiological situation in the participating states and in the region of the Olympics in laboratory support organization

The Epizootiological and Epidemiologic Situation on Brucellosis in the Southern Federal District of the Russian Federation in 2006-2009

Presented is the analysis of dynamics of brucellosis morbidity in people and animals. Evaluation of epizootiological and epidemiological situation on brucellosis in the Southern federal district of the Russian Federation for 2006-2009 is given. It is shown that unfavorable epidemic situation on brucellosis persists in the number of regions of the Southern federal district of RF that gives the basis to predict the preservation of morbidity at a high level
