Social equity is balanced and equal distribution of rights and interests. A sound system is the fundamental guarantee for social equity. Unfortunately, imperfection of the current system in China obstructed social equity in today’s China such as income distribution system, dual urbanrural system, market economic system, citizen rights and interests, protection system and social security system. To eliminate these barriers, strengthen system building and guarantee social equity, equity and justice should be taken as the primary goal of value for system building; a guarantee mechanism for social equity system should be built focusing on fairness in rights, opportunities, rules and distribution; and a system to guarantee social equity should be built and perfected with multi-tiered systems including macro basic system, medium operation system and microcosmic concrete system.Key words: Social equity; System; Guarante

The purpose of this study was to use solid lipid nanoparticles (SLN) to improve the pharmacological activity of ofloxacin. Ofloxacin-loaded SLN were prepared using palmitic acid as lipid matrix and poly vinyl alcohol (PVA) as emulsifier by a hot homogenization and ultrasonication method. The physicochemical characteristics of SLN were investigated by optical microscope, scanning electron microscopy, and photon correlation spectroscopy. Pharmacokinetics was studied after oral administration in mice. In vitro antibacterial activity and in vivo antibacterial efficacy of the SLN were investigated using minimal inhibitory concentrations (MIC) and a mouse protection model. The results demonstrated that the encapsulation efficiency, loading capacity, diameter, polydispersivity index, and zeta potential of the nanoparticles were 41.36% ± 1.50%, 4.40% ± 0.16%, 156.33 ± 7.51 nm, 0.26 ± 0.04, and −22.70 ± 1.40 mv, respectively. The SLN showed sustained release and enhanced antibacterial activity in vitro. Pharmacokinetic results demonstrated that SLN increased the bioavailability of ofloxacin by 2.27-fold, and extended the mean residence time of the drug from 10.50 to 43.44 hours. Single oral administrations of ofloxacin-loaded nanoparticles at 3 drug doses, 5 mg/kg, 10 mg/kg, and 20 mg/kg, all produced higher survival rates of lethal infected mice compared with native ofloxacin. These results indicate that SLN might be a promising delivery system to enhance the pharmacological activity of ofloxacin

Abstract

Background

Our previous studies demonstrated that tilmicosin-loaded hydrogenated castor oil solid lipid nanoparticles (Til-HCO-SLN) are a promising formulation for enhanced pharmacological activity and therapeutic efficacy in veterinary use. The purpose of this work was to evaluate the acute toxicity of Til-HCO-SLN.

Methods

Two nanoparticle doses were used for the study in ICR mice. The low dose (766 mg/kg.bw) with tilmicosin 7.5 times of the clinic dosage and below the median lethal dose (LD50) was subcutaneously administered twice on the first and 7th day. The single high dose (5 g/kg.bw) was the practical upper limit in an acute toxicity study and was administered subcutaneously on the first day. Blank HCO-SLN, native tilmicosin, and saline solution were included as controls. After medication, animals were monitored over 14 days, and then necropsied. Signs of toxicity were evaluated via mortality, symptoms of treatment effect, gross and microscopic pathology, and hematologic and biochemical parameters.

Results

After administration of native tilmicosin, all mice died within 2 h in the high dose group, in the low dose group 3 died after the first and 2 died after the second injections. The surviving mice in the tilmicosin low dose group showed hypoactivity, accelerated breath, gloomy spirit and lethargy. In contrast, all mice in Til-HCO-SLN and blank HCO-SLN groups survived at both low and high doses. The high nanoparticle dose induced transient clinical symptoms of treatment effect such as transient reversible action retardation, anorexy and gloomy spirit, increased spleen and liver coefficients and decreased heart coefficients, microscopic pathological changes of liver, spleen and heart, and minor changes in hematologic and biochemical parameters, but no adverse effects were observed in the nanoparticle low dose group.

Conclusions

The results revealed that the LD50 of Til-HCO-SLN and blank HCO-SLN exceeded 5 g/kg.bw and thus the nanoparticles are considered low toxic according to the toxicity categories of chemicals. Moreover, HCO-SLN significantly decreased the toxicity of tilmicosin. Normal clinic dosage of Til-HCO-SLN is safe as evaluated by acute toxicity.</p

ObjectiveThe objective of this study was to identify the factors that affect the efficacy of added perampanel for the treatment of drug-resistant epilepsy (DRE), and to develop a reliable nomogram to predict the benefit of this addition.MethodsA retrospective clinical analysis was conducted on DRE patients who received perampanel treatment and who were followed up for at least 6 months from January 2020 and September 2023 at the Epilepsy Center of Fujian Medical University Union Hospital. Data from January 2020 to December 2021 were used as development dataset to build model, while the data from January 2022 to September 2023 were used as validation dataset for internal validation. The predictive factors that affected the efficacy of perampanel as DRE treatment were included in the final multivariate logistic regression model, and a derived nomogram was established.ResultsA total of 119 DRE patients who received perampanel treatment were included in this study (development datasets: n = 76; validation data: n = 43). Among them, 72.3% (n = 86) showed a 50% or greater reduction in seizure frequency after perampanel treatment. Of all the parameters of interest, sex, age, history of generalized tonic-clonic seizures, and the number of antiseizure medications were identified as significant predictors for estimating the benefit of adding perampanel for the treatment of DRE. A model incorporating these four variables was developed, and a nomogram was constructed to calculate the probability of benefit of adding perampanel using the model coefficients. The C-index of the predictive model was 0.838, and the validation C-index was 0.756. The goodness-of-fit test showed good calibration of the model (p = 0.920, 0.752 respectively).ConclusionThe proposed nomogram has significant clinical potential for predicting the probability of benefit of perampanel as DRE treatment. This nomogram can be used to identify DRE patients who could benefit from the early addition of perampanel to their treatment regimen

It has been argued that amongst the history of modern Chinese fiction, Eileen Chang is the most splendid writer (Hsia, 1999). This study intends to interpret the interrelationships between Eileen Chang掇 educational agenda and literary construction. Grounded in sociological theories of education as well as literary theories and criticism, this study aims to address the following research question: What are the interrelationships between Eileen Chang掇 educational agenda and literary construction? Taking a lens of sociology of education and textual-psychoanalytic approach of literature, this research explores key concepts of three propositions of symbolic violence, three modes of pedagogic action, feminist criticism of literature, and psychoanalytic criticism of literature. Specifically, theories of sociology of education establish educational agendas to analyze Eileen Chang掇 educational background, while feminism investigates literary features by textual approach. Psychoanalytic criticism of literature typically bridges the two fields of sociology of education and literary theories, examining the interrelationships between Eileen Chang掇 educational agenda and literary construction. In particular, theories regarding sociology of education and literature also establish the framework of the interrelationship among education, the author, and literature. In general, this study adopts content and textual analysis as methodology, and engages documentation as the research method for data collection. Specifically, documentation covers assorted contents, natures, and languages. The findings from the analysis provide useful insights into the study of Eileen Chang. First, engaging the conceptualization of cultural, economic, and social resource, the pedagogic work of a number of pedagogic authorities in her family, diffuse, and institutionalized education have been discussed. Accordingly, the family, diffuse, and institutionalized education shape the primary and secondary habitus of Eileen Chang. Second, this research discusses the literary construction of Eileen Chang from textual approach, exploring imagery, characters, and theme. Particularly, Chang foregrounds the image of 烑ook and look back via mirror,?and extends the symbol of mirror to many other objects. Further, Eileen Chang presents the juxtaposition and comparison of the married and unmarried heroines, displaying her distinctive tragic view, delicate layered humanity of characters, and compassion for human beings. Third, several mechanisms have been involved between literature and reality (Freud, 1988), and Eileen Chang adopts three mechanisms of dream work to transform her real life footage into literary materials: transference, displacement, and condensation. The research examines transference between Chang掇 family education and imagery, family education and characters, habitus and theme; analyzes displacement between her family education and imagery. The research also discusses condensation between Chang掇 family education and characters, family education and theme, institutionalized education and theme. And the study examines condensation between Chang掇 family education and theme, along with her diffuse education and theme. Therefore, this study draws both theoretical and practical implications for the study of Eileen Chang and the interdisciplinary research concerning literary authors. Specifically, the research and the framework abridge the discipline of education and literature, and suggest that perspective studies might concentrate on the interrelationships between authors?respective pedagogic elements and literary features.published_or_final_versionEducationDoctoralDoctor of Philosoph

    No full text
Medical expenses, especially among middle-aged and elderly people, have increased in China over recent decades. However, few studies have analyzed the concentration or persistence of medical expenses among Chinese residents or vulnerable groups with longitudinal survey data. Based on the data of CHARLS (China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study), this study sought to identify characteristics associated with the concentration and persistence of medical expenses among Chinese middle-aged and elderly adults and to help alleviate medical spending and the operational risk of social medical insurance. Concentration was measured using the cumulative percentages of ranked annual medical expenses and descriptive statistics were used to define the characteristics of individuals with high medical expenses. The persistence of medical expenses and associated factors were estimated using transfer rate calculations and Heckman selection modeling. The results show that total medical expenses were concentrated among a few adults and the concentration increased over time. People in the high medical expense group were more likely to be older, live in urban areas, be less wealthy, have chronic diseases, and attend higher-ranking medical institutions. Lagged medical expenses had a persistent positive effect on current medical expenses and the effect of a one-period lag was strongest. Individuals with chronic diseases during the lagged period had a higher likelihood of experiencing persistent medical expenses. Policy efforts should focus on preventive management, more efficient care systems, improvement of serious illness insurance level, and strengthening the persistent protection effect of social medical insurance to reduce the high medical financial risk and long-term financial healthcare burden in China

Discovery and geological significance of gas-liquid spouting expulsion and effusion depositional structures at Xialei manganese deposit in Guangxi

The Daxin Xialei Devonian manganese deposit in Guangxi is the first super-massive manganese ore deposit ever discovered in China. Here we conducted detailed petrographic studies on manganese-bearing sequence, ore mineral assemblages and their textures and structures. Our work reveal that the brecciated, vein-bearing and stockwork manganese ore minerals may form correspondingly to the expulsion and effusion of the gas and liquid-rich fluid. In addition, prevailing manganese-bearing silicate and sulfide minerals (rhodonite, manganese-iron chlorophyllite, pyrite, chalcopyrite, manganite, etc.) of hydrothermal origin are observed among the ores. Further comprehensive examinations of the original borehole data of the mining area lead to two major outcomes.First, three syndepositional faults are successfully recovered and identified in Late Devonian Xialei-Tuhu Ⅳ-graben basins, which controls the formation and spatial distribution of the manganese ore deposit.Second, brecciated manganese ore minerals appear to be clustered in space, and the localities of which may correspond to the locations of the ancient gas-liquid expulsion and effusion centers that give rise to the formation of manganese ore. Notably, the spatial distribution of the fossilized gas-liquid centers is controlled by the syndepositional faults developed during the formation of manganese ore deposit. Given the observation that Xalei Devonian manganese ore deposit shares comparable expulsion and effusion depositional features to Nanhua Datangpo gas-liquid depositional manganese ore deposit at Songtao of Guizhou Province, it is therefore argued that both Xialei and Datangpo manganese ore developed by similar mechanisms. This study sheds light on a better understanding of the metallogenic mechanism(s) and will place better constraints on the future explorations of Xialei manganese ore deposit

    No full text
Primulina tenuituba is a species in the Gesneriaceae family that is widely distributed in China. It is a karst-dwelling species with an enormous tolerance for extreme drought and high temperatures. The species is also used in traditional Chinese medicine. In this study, the complete chloroplast genome of P. tenuituba was assembled and characterized for the first time. The complete chloroplast genome exhibited a typical quadripartite cycle of 153,236 bp in length, including a pair of inverted repeats (IRs) of 25,494 bp, which were separated by a large single-copy (LSC) region of 84,364 bp and a small single copy (SSC) region of 17,884 bp. The GC content was 37.6%. The complete chloroplast genome of P. tenuituba contains 114 genes, including 80 protein-coding genes, 30 tRNAs genes, and four rRNAs. The phylogenetic analysis showed that P. tenuituba is closely related to P. eburnea. The newly reported chloroplast genome of P. tenuituba would provide valuable data for further studies on its evolution and adaptation mechanism
