We present an overview of the recent developments in the study of the classification problem for automorphisms of C*-algebras from the perspective of Borel complexity theory.Comment: 21 page

Unitary equivalence of automorphisms of separable C*-algebras

We prove that the automorphisms of any separable C*-algebra that does not have continuous trace are not classifiable by countable structures up to unitary equivalence. This implies a dichotomy for the Borel complexity of the relation of unitary equivalence of automorphisms of a separable unital C*-algebra: Such relation is either smooth or not even classifiable by countable structures.Comment: Submitted for publicatio

Class-preserving automorphisms of universal hyperlinear groups

We show that the group of class-preserving automorphisms of a universal hyperlinear group has index 2 inside the group of all automorphisms.Comment: 4 page

An intrinsic order-theoretic characterization of the weak expectation property

    Get PDF
We prove the following characterization of the weak expectation property for operator systems in terms of Wittstock's matricial Riesz separation property: an operator system SS satisfies the weak expectation property if and only if Mq(S)M_{q}(S) satisfies the matricial Riesz separation property for every q∈Nq\in \mathbb{N}. This can be seen as the noncommutative analog of the characterization of simplex spaces among function systems in terms of the classical Riesz separation property

A von Neumann algebra characterization of property (T) for groupoids

    Get PDF
For an arbitrary discrete probability-measure-preserving groupoid GG, we provide a characterization of property (T) for GG in terms of the groupoid von Neumann algebra L(G)L(G). More generally, we obtain a characterization of relative property (T) for a subgroupoid H⊂GH\subset G in terms of the inclusion L(H)⊂L(G)L\left( H\right) \subset L\left( G\right)
