    Essays on Gender Economics

    Get PDF
[eng] Despite the abundance of theories and evidence, addressing key questions about the existence and drivers of gender gaps remains essential: Where do gender gaps exist? Why do they persist? Which factors contribute to their perpetuation? How can we effectively mitigate them? This dissertation aims to enhance our understanding of gender gaps and their underlying causes to inform policy formulation. Comprising three chapters, the thesis contributes to two strands of research in gender economics. The first strand examines gender differences in economic outcomes in both developed and developing countries. The second strand delves into drivers of gender disparity, specifically exploring factors contributing to their formation and evolution

Applying the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) in Investigating Online Impulsive Buying Behavior of Vietnamese Consumers

Based on The Theory of Adoption and Use of Technology (UTAUT) (Venkatesh et al., 2003), this study builds a research model regarding the Factors affecting Vietnamese consumers' online impulsive buying behavior. The multiple regression results reveal that Performance Expectancy, Effort Expectancy, Social Influence, and Online Buying Intention play a crucial role in amplifying the development of online impulsive buying behavior in Vietnam. In recent years, the trend of digital transformation in education has increased significantly. A series of policies to promote the digital transformation of education have been issued, gradually completing the legal corridor such as the regulations on applying information technology, information in management, organization of online training, the use of the entire industry database system. Therefore, this article is the result of a more comprehensive research project and aims to analyze the digital transformation acceptance of college students in Economic - Business Universities in the North of Vietnam. The Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) and independent variable Perceived Security (PS) have been combined together in order to support the survey. The data was analyzed using the method of multiple regression. These findings shed the light on the digital transformation acceptance level of students with the positive link of Performance Expectancy (PE), Social Influence (SI), Perceived Security (PS) and Facilitating Conditions (FC) on Behavioral Intention of digital transformation and its Use Behavior. Moreover, the study also has the contribution to provide orientations and solutions that will be proposed to approach the trend encouraging the application of digital transformation into higher education specifically in the business field. To deal with an unprecedented pandemic known as COVID-19, every country has developed its own policies to prevent the expansion of Coronavirus. The purpose of this study is to investigate Vietnam’s success in controlling the spread of COVID-19 epidemic from the perspective of people’s behavior. This study applied the Health Belief Model developed by Don Nutbeam and Elizabeth (2004). An online survey engine (docs.google.com/forms) and an offline survey were employed to collect data from citizens in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Quang Ninh, Haiphong and other cities. The statistical analysis used 423 questionnaires from 450 respondents, mainly aged 18 to 35. The results demonstrated that people's awareness of COVID-19 as well as their behaviors have contributed significantly to the successful efforts to prevent and control the disease in Vietnam. Factors Influencing Adoption of Online Payment via E-Commerce Platforms

In this study, the research group applied the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) by Davis (1989) to analyze factors influencing customers’ intention to use the online payment via e-commerce platforms as well as to encourage Vietnamese consumers to adapt this means of payment. Besides Perceived Ease of Use and Perceived Usefulness in the original model of Davis (1989), three additional dependent factors (Subjective Norm, Trust, Risk) were added to the model. The new model proposed by the research group aims to give a more well-rounded explanation on Vietnamese consumers’ attitude and intention towards the online payment. Using sample data including 448 consumers in the Northern region of Vietnam, the research group has been able to validate the hypothesis model and prove that independent and dependent variables (Attitude towards Use and Intention to Use) are positively correlated. Among the 5 dependent variables, Subjective Norm is found to be the most significant factor contributing to promote online payment attitude and intention through e-commerce websites of Vietnamese consumers. This research paper analyzes the impact of foreign direct investment (FDI), international trade, and national economy on the standard of living of people in ASEAN member countries, using data from 2012-2021. The study uses data from this period to examine the effects of these variables on the standard of living in ASEAN member countries. The results indicate that international trade and national economy have a significant influence on people's standard of living in the region. However, the effect of FDI varies depending on the level of development of the country. While FDI doesn't have much effect on developing countries, it has a negative impact on developed countries. The study also provides insights for policymakers on how to promote economic growth and improve the quality of life for people in the ASEAN. This study explored the consumer behavior based on TPB model in Vietnam. The hypotheses are empirically tested using survey data obtained from consumer who purchased green products of household appliances in Hanoi– the capital of Vietnam. During the study, the research team added the “trend” variable which is a characteristic variable in Vietnam. The results of the multiple regression analysis show that attitude, subjective norm, perceived behavioral control, trend have significant and positive effect on household appliances product. The research findings are discussed and implications for government, manufacturing businesses, retail businesses to embrace green consumption behavior Keywords: Consumption Behavior; Vietnam; TPB; Household appliances DOI: 10.7176/EJBM/12-18-16 Publication date:June 30th 202

Synthesis of Cu+^+/bipyridyl Based Complex Towards Dye Sensitized Solar Cell Application

    Get PDF
This study aims to synthesize the Cu+/bipyridyl-based complex using Sonogashira cross coupling. The structure of the ligand and the complex were investigated by nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy; by single crystal X-ray diffraction and by UV-VIS absorption spectroscopy. The obtained experimental results were in good agreement with the theoretical calculations. The complex is a potential candidate to be the photo sensitizer in dye-sensitized solar cells.
