    Universal scaling behavior of the single electron box in the strong tunneling limit

    We perform a numerical analysis of recently proposed scaling functions for the single electron box. Specifically, we study the ``magnetic'' susceptibility as a function of tunneling conductance and gate charge, and the effective charging energy at zero gate charge as a function of tunneling conductance in the strong tunneling limit. Our Monte Carlo results confirm the accuracy of the theoretical predictions.Comment: Published versio

    Friedel oscillations of Density of States in a one-dimensional Mott insulator and Incommensurate Charge Density Wave/Superconductor

    Oscillations of local density of states generated by a single scalar impurity potential are calculated for one-dimensional systems with dynamically generated charge or spin gap. At zero temperature the oscillations develop at finite wave vector (π\pi for the Mott insulator and 2kF2k_F for ICDW/SC) and at frequencies larger than the soliton spectral gap mm. Their amplitude has a broad maximum at ω3m\omega \approx 3m, where mm is the gap magnitude.Comment: 4 pages, 2 figure

    Giant neutron halo in nuclei beyond beta-stability line

    The radii of nucleon distribution and neutron skin in nuclei beyond the \beta-stability line are studied within the extended Thomas-Fermi approximation. We show that the growth of neutron skin in unstable nuclei does not obey the saturation condition because of the neutron coat. The neutron coat indicates the possibility of giant neutron halo which is growing with moving away from the beta stability line. We demonstrate the presence of strong shell oscillations in the charge radius R_C and the relation of R_C to the isospin shift of neutron-proton chemical potentials \Delta\lambda =\lambda_n-\lambda_p for nuclei beyond the beta-stability line at fixed value of mass number A.Comment: 10 pages, 6 figures; few sentences and one reference added; published in Nucl. The paper studies the bilateral negative effect on socio-economic development of regions from both the external sanctions and braking mechanism of economic development within the country. On the basis of the comparative and statistical analysis, the need to change focus of investment policy from the growth in volumes to qualitative perfecting is proved. The new direction of investment policy connected with the import substitution process realization, its combination with acceleration of innovative development on the certain example of Sverdlovsk region is analyzed.     `Composite particles' and the eigenstates of Calogero-Sutherland and Ruijsenaars-Schneider

    We establish a one-to-one correspondance between the ''composite particles'' with NN particles and the Young tableaux with at most NN rows. We apply this correspondance to the models of Calogero-Sutherland and Ruijsenaars-Schneider and we obtain a momentum space representation of the ''composite particles'' in terms of creation operators attached to the Young tableaux. Using the technique of bosonisation, we obtain a position space representation of the ''composite particles'' in terms of products of vertex operators. In the special case where the ''composite particles'' are bosons and if we add one extra quasiparticle or quasihole, we construct the ground state wave functions corresponding to the Jain series ν=p/(2np±1)\nu =p/(2np\pm 1) of the fractional quantum Hall effect.Comment: latex calcomp2.tex, 5 files, 30 pages [SPhT-T99/080], submitted to J.     Dynamical structure factor of the anisotropic Heisenberg chain in a transverse field

    We consider the anisotropic Heisenberg spin-1/2 chain in a transverse magnetic field at zero temperature. We first determine all components of the dynamical structure factor by combining exact results with a mean-field approximation recently proposed by Dmitriev {\it et al}., JETP 95, 538 (2002). We then turn to the small anisotropy limit, in which we use field theory methods to obtain exact results. We discuss the relevance of our results to Neutron scattering experiments on the 1D Heisenberg chain compound Cs2CoCl4{\rm Cs_2CoCl_4}.Comment: 13 pages, 14 figure
