Hawking radiation in different coordinate settings: Complex paths approach
We apply the technique of complex paths to obtain Hawking radiation in
different coordinate representations of the Schwarzschild space-time. The
coordinate representations we consider do not possess a singularity at the
horizon unlike the standard Schwarzschild coordinate. However, the event
horizon manifests itself as a singularity in the expression for the
semiclassical action. This singularity is regularized by using the method of
complex paths and we find that Hawking radiation is recovered in these
coordinates indicating the covariance of Hawking radiation as far as these

MALDI-TOF High Mass Calibration up to 200 kDa Using Human Recombinant 16 kDa Protein Histidine Phosphatase Aggregates
Background: Protein histidine phosphatase (PHP) is an enzyme which removes phosphate groups from histidine residues. It was described for vertebrates in the year 2002. The recombinant human 16 kDa protein forms multimeric complexes in physiological buffer and in the gas phase. High-mass calibration in matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) has remained a problem due to the lack of suitable standards. Large proteins can hardly be freed of their substructural microheterogeneity by classical purification procedures so that their use as calibrants is limited. A small adduct-forming protein of validated quality is a valuable alternative for that purpose.
Methodology/Principal Findings: Three major PHP clusters of ,113, 209 and .600 kDa were observed in gel filtration analysis. Re-chromatography of the monomer peak showed the same cluster distribution. The tendency to associate was detected also in MALDI-TOF MS measuring regular adducts up to 200 kDa.
Conclusions/Significance: PHP forms multimers consisting of up to more than 35 protein molecules. In MALDI-TOF MS it generates adduct ions every 16 kDa. The protein can be produced with high quality so that its use as calibration compound for high mass ranges above 100 kDa, where standards are difficult to obtain, is feasible
Input-output relations at dispersing and absorbing planar multilayers for the quantized electromagnetic field containing evanescent components
By using the Green-function concept of quantization of the electromagnetic
field in dispersing and absorbing media, the quantized field in the presence of
a dispersing and absorbing dielectric multilayer plate is studied.
Three-dimensional input-output relations are derived for both amplitude
operators in the -space and the field operators in the coordinate
space. The conditions are discussed, under which the input-output relations can
be expressed in terms of bosonic operators. The theory applies to both
(effectively) free fields and fields, created by active atomic sources inside
and/or outside the plate, including also evanescent-field components.Comment: 14 pages, 1 figur
Electromagnetic-field quantization and spontaneous decay in left-handed media
We present a quantization scheme for the electromagnetic field interacting
with atomic systems in the presence of dispersing and absorbing
magnetodielectric media, including left-handed material having negative real
part of the refractive index. The theory is applied to the spontaneous decay of
a two-level atom at the center of a spherical free-space cavity surrounded by
magnetodielectric matter of overlapping band-gap zones. Results for both big
and small cavities are presented, and the problem of local-field corrections

Production and Decay of D_1(2420)^0 and D_2^*(2460)^0
We have investigated and final states and
observed the two established charmed mesons, the with mass
MeV/c and width MeV/c and
the with mass MeV/c and width
MeV/c. Properties of these final states, including
their decay angular distributions and spin-parity assignments, have been
studied. We identify these two mesons as the doublet predicted
by HQET. We also obtain constraints on {\footnotesize } as a function of the cosine of the relative phase of the two

We have studied the leptonic decay of the resonance into tau
pairs using the CLEO II detector. A clean sample of tau pair events is
identified via events containing two charged particles where exactly one of the
particles is an identified electron. We find . The result is consistent with
