Comparing the Behavioral Models in Cyber-World Using Social Roles

    Get PDF
Cyber-world is a typical form of social syndication. Although the future of cyber-world seems bright, not all efforts have succeeded. Therefore, knowing how to motivate users and keep them continually visiting is an important challenge for creating successful cyber-world Web sites. Since that human behaviour varies according to people’s different social roles, this study investigated four social roles (habitual, active, personal, and lurker) in the cyber-worlds. 729 users of i-Partment were used to test the research model. This study empirically confirms the existence of different behavioural models, and revealed the implications for theory and practice

Exploring users’ behavioral model in Web 2.0 applications - The moderating effects of hedonic versus utilitarian motivations

    Get PDF
The Web 2.0 trend has enhanced the overwhelming demand for more pervasive human space in online social interaction. Therefore, it is imperative for the practitioners of Web 2.0 websites to understand users’ motivations to participate and develop specific services to stimulate a long-term usage. This study has proposed a research model that explores the factors affecting users’ intentions to use Web 2.0 applications. In addition, user’s usage motivations (i.e. hedonic versus utilitarian) are also compared. The results revealed that users’ intentions to use Web 2.0 applications is influenced by usefulness, ease of use, enjoyment, and social presence. In addition, users’ hedonic versus utilitarian motivations has the moderating influences on the research model

Single deep ultraviolet light emission from boron nitride nanotube film

Light in deep ultraviolet DUV region has a wide range of applications and the demand for finding DUV light emitting materials at nanoscale is increasingly urgent as they are vital for building miniaturized optic and optoelectronic devices. We discover that boron nitride nanotubes BNNTs with a well-crystallized cylindrical multiwall structure and diameters smaller than 10 nm can have single DUV emission at 225 nm 5.51 eV. The measured BNNTs are grown on substrate in the form of a thin film. This study suggests that BNNTs may work as nanosized DUV light sources for various applications. © 20

Binary Turbo Coding with Interblock Memory

[[abstract]]We investigate the performance of binary codes T constructed from turbo coding with interblock memory. The encoding of T is implemented by serially concatenating a multiplexer, a multilevel delay processor, and a signal mapper to the encoder of a conventional binary turbo code C. With such a construction, in T, there is some irregularity for the code bits in C. To provide more variety of irregularity, we can construct TC which is obtained by passing only a fraction of C through a multilevel delay processor and a signal mapper. We propose iterative decoding between adjacent codewords (IDAC), which provides error performance much better than the iterative decoding within a single codeword (IDSC). Simulation shows that T can have a lower error floor than C for either short or long code length. In some cases, TC can provide better error floors and waterfall regions than C.[[fileno]]2030133030003[[department]]電機工程學

Biological Activities and Applications of Dioscorins, the Major Tuber Storage Proteins of Yam

    Get PDF
AbstractYam tubers, a common tuber crop and an important traditional Chinese medicine in Taiwan, have many bioactive substances, including phenolic compounds, mucilage polysaccharides, steroidal saponins and proteins. Among the total soluble proteins, 80% of them are dioscorins. In the past two decades, many studies showed that dioscorins exhibited biological activities both in vitro and in vivo, including the enzymatic, antioxidant, antihypertensive, immunomodulatory, lectin activities and the protecting role on airway epithelial cells against allergens in vitro. Some of these activities are survived after chemical, heating process or enzymatic digestion. Despite of lacking the intact structural information and the detail action mechanisms in the cells, yam dioscorins are potential resources for developing as functional foods and interesting targets for food protein researchers

Performance evaluation on the implementation of Pre-established Medical Processes for nurse practitioners in the hospitals

In 2015, Taiwan announced the establishment of “Pre-established Medical Processes” and related regulations to assist nurse practitioners in the clinical tasks, maintain medical quality and patient safety, and provide protection in clinical practice. However, the effectiveness of implementation still needs to be improved and strengthened. This study adopts the TAM and the TTF as the research framework, and a cross-sectional design. The questionnaires are administered to the professional nurse practitioners in the hospitals of central Taiwan. A total of 300 questionnaires were distributed, and Smart PLS 3.0 and SPSS 24.0 were both applied to verify interpretability. The questionnaire recovery rate was 88.3%, and the overall predictive power was 65.2%. Technological characteristics and TTF had a significant impact on perceived usefulness
