A Drift-Kinetic Analytical Model for SOL Plasma Dynamics at Arbitrary Collisionality
A drift-kinetic model to describe the plasma dynamics in the scrape-off layer
region of tokamak devices at arbitrary collisionality is derived. Our
formulation is based on a gyroaveraged Lagrangian description of the charged
particle motion, and the corresponding drift-kinetic Boltzmann equation that
includes a full Coulomb collision operator. Using a Hermite-Laguerre velocity
space decomposition of the gyroaveraged distribution function, a set of
equations to evolve the coefficients of the expansion is presented. By
evaluating explicitly the moments of the Coulomb collision operator,
distribution functions arbitrarily far from equilibrium can be studied at
arbitrary collisionalities. A fluid closure in the high-collisionality limit is
presented, and the corresponding fluid equations are compared with
previously-derived fluid models
Consequences of being deeply in love: The fan-football club relationship
The aim of this research is to explore the consequences of being in love and committed to a
football (soccer) club and a team for the fans. Data was collected through 28 in-depth interviews.
In the qualitative data collection for this work first we realize 97 telephone interviews and then
we made 28 in-depth interviews. In this paper we present the findings of the 28 in-depth
interviews concerning the consequences of being deeply in love with the football club.
Respondents were between 22 and 70 years of age and engaged in a range of different jobs and
functions. The interviews were recorded and transcribed and the NVIVO software was employed
to help in content data analysis. The findings reveal six major themes: personal, financial, family,
life planning, job and friends.info:eu-repo/semantics/acceptedVersio
Magnetic reconnection and stochastic plasmoid chains in high-Lundquist-number plasmas
A numerical study of magnetic reconnection in the large-Lundquist-number
(), plasmoid-dominated regime is carried out for up to . The
theoretical model of Uzdensky {\it et al.} [Phys. Rev. Lett. {\bf 105}, 235002
(2010)] is confirmed and partially amended. The normalized reconnection rate is
\normEeff\sim 0.02 independently of for . The plasmoid flux
() and half-width () distribution functions scale as and . The joint distribution of and
shows that plasmoids populate a triangular region ,
where is the reconnecting field. It is argued that this feature is due to
plasmoid coalescence. Macroscopic "monster" plasmoids with % of the
system size are shown to emerge in just a few Alfv\'en times, independently of
, suggesting that large disruptive events are an inevitable feature of
large- reconnection.Comment: 5 pages, 6 figures, submitted for publicatio
I want that smartphone! sources of brand equity
This research aims (i) to explore the influence of an individual’s attitude towards advertising,
brand origin and country of manufacture on brand equity creation; and (ii) to analyse brand
typicality as moderating the effect of brand origin macro image on perceived quality. A
conceptual model is proposed and applied to a sample of 305 Portuguese consumers of
Smartphones. The proposed model was tested considering Apple, Nokia and Samsung. The
results show that individuals' attitudes towards advertisements has a positive impact on brand
equity creation, whereas country of manufacture does not influence significantly and brand
origin has only a partial influence. Brand typicality exerts a significant direct effect on brand
equity dimensions but does not have a significant moderating effect.info:eu-repo/semantics/acceptedVersio
Create, build and manage online brands for internet companies
Research Aims
The primary objective of this ongoing research is to identify the main assets that create brand
success for internet-only companies. Based on an extensive and systematic literature review,
this study seeks to identify the constructs who drive online brands for a successful life.
Eighteen articles were identified and from those some preliminary reflections were taken.info:eu-repo/semantics/submittedVersio
Effect of current corrugations on the stability of the tearing mode
The generation of zonal magnetic fields in laboratory fusion plasmas is
predicted by theoretical and numerical models and was recently observed
experimentally. It is shown that the modification of the current density
gradient associated with such corrugations can significantly affect the
stability of the tearing mode. A simple scaling law is derived that predicts
the impact of small stationary current corrugations on the stability parameter
. The described destabilization mechanism can provide an explanation
for the trigger of the Neoclassical Tearing Mode (NTM) in plasmas without
significant MHD activity.Comment: Accepted to Physics of Plasma
Football brand managers perspectives how to deal with fans emotions
Football brand managers are part of the sport industry. With structured in-depth personal interviews to seven of the top half Portuguese football clubs, our aim is to have a deeper knowledge about the professional perspective, strategies and actions to attract fans and maintain their relationship with the club (i.e. brand). Negativity effect, fan identity, and memory are the three major themes that emerged and also discussed in the light of known literature.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Tratamento Endovascular da Disseção Crónica Isolada da Aorta Abdominal
Isolated acute abdominal aortic dissection is a relatively rare event. Its natural history is not fully understood and its optimal treatment is not established. Open surgery represents the most described treatment but endovascular intervention has had increasing application. Isolated chronic abdominal aortic dissection is even less described in the literature. We describe three patients with isolated chronic abdominal aortic dissection who underwent endovascular treatment in our institution. Mean age at presentation was 82 years. Indication for surgical intervention was aneurismal degeneration. Mean aortic diameter at presentation was 46.7 mm. There was no perioperative mortality or reinterventions. Mean follow-up was 5.3 years (2-12 years). Late reintervention was needed in one patient, eight years after initial surgery, due to type 1 endoleak. According to our experience, endovascular intervention represents an effective and durable treatment option in isolated chronic abdominal aortic dissection. However, long-term follow-up is mandatory. Furthermore, larger studies are still needed to understand this disease and its adequate treatment.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
How can stimuli and emotions help increase brand advocacy
The current study aims to explore if Information/Content, Interactive Features, and Design-Visual appeal influences consumers emotional states of Pleasure, Arousal, and Dominance (PDA), leading to brand advocacy as an outcome. Therefore, our goal is to understand which stimuli of experience exercises more effect on the three emotional states (PDA) and which of these three better influence Brand Advocacy. Data from 183 users of CGM were analysed through structural equation modelling (SmarthPLS2.0) and the findings show that all the aforementioned stimuli influence online PDA. Findings also suggest that all PDA dimensions influence Brand Advocacy.info:eu-repo/semantics/acceptedVersio
