The author presents the unpublished inventory of liturgical objects of Saint Peters altar in Vic Cathedral, possibly dating to the early 13th century. The inventory can be found in folio 152 of Liber dotationum antiquarum (ACV). This article analyzes the wills and the figures of Pere de Tavertet (1157-1218), sacristan, and Guillem de Tavertet, his nephew and bishop of Vic from 1195 to 1233. The author provides a study of the pieces included in the inventory, the most important of which is the magnum chalice which Pere de Tavertet bequeathed to the altar
teològic i l'artÃstic.
766).In this paper we analyse the figure of Christ in Glory, a model that was
created by the Limoges workshop towards the end of the 12th century. We have considered two aspects: the theological and the artistic. Thus, in the
first section of this paper, we emphasise the connotation of sacerdos et rex
with the crowned Christ dressed in a sleeved tunic, basing our hypothesis
on the Old and New Testaments. In the second section, we analyse the
colobium (sleeveless tunic) and the wood carvings of dressed Majesties
such as the Volto Santo of Lucca and the Catalan Majesties, which are
considered a possible antecedent. Lastly, we study what we deem to
be the best group of Limoges metal images of this typology in order to
determine their characteristics and apply them to the Majesty of the Cross
In this study we present a previously unpublished ciborium belonging to a
private collection, which we consider a very important piece from the Limoges
workshop. The paper is divided into two sections: the first one provides an
analysis of the liturgy linked to Eucharistic vessels, and the second focuses
on the ciborium and its link to the opus Lemovicense. In the latter part, the
ciborium is also compared to other pieces from the Limoges workshop
In this paper we discuss the covers of the St Rufus Missal of Tortosa Cathedral (ms. 11) in order to determine their filiation and dating. To thisend, we analyse the most significant features of the two representations,
the Maiestas Domini and the Crucifixion, comparing them with metal
works (book covers and others) from Limoges, the Meuse region, the Silos
workshop and the Catalan workshops.
We analyse the coincidences and discrepancies in relation to the works of
these workshops. The conclusion is reached that it is an unicum, the work
of an artist who was directly or indirectly familiar with those workshops
and produced a completely personal creation. Our hypothesis is that he
was a foreign master who was working in Catalonia at the end of the 12th
century
This paper consists of two sections. The first describes the historicalliturgical
context of the cross and highlights its importance in ancient
and medieval Christian art. A passage from Deuteronomy dealing with
death by crucifixion is cited. It was a death considered disgraceful by the
Jews, who therefore did not accept and have never accepted the symbolic
value of the cross. In response to this, Saint Paul raised his voice to justify
Christ's death. Likewise, other texts by Christian writers who defend
this position are mentioned, and the value of the cross as a means of
redeeming humankind according to the four Evangelists is considered.
The second section analyses a central plaque of a cross from the Limoges
workshop dating from the late 12th century. The cross is described and
information is provided on its first publication in the form of a drawing
in 1858, its chronology, its provenance from the Limoges workshop, and
its high artistic quality. Lastly, it is compared with other cross plaques in
order to place it in context
Monastery with the aim of providing a relevant chronological context. We analyze
human (angel) and plant motifs that comprise the front and back of the altar,
and recreate drawings of these items in two separate plates. We then compare
these to other pieces in different art genres like sculpture, manuscripts and precious
metalworks. Having compared the altar's motifs to those of the other art
pieces and having identified some unique characteristics, we contend that the
altar should be considered a piece of Longobard art originating in the North of
the Italian Peninsula at some point between the 8th and 9th centúries

The Lladó censer
This article presents a study of the Lladó censer at the Episcopal Museum of Vic (MEV 3746). The dearth of historical documentation about this censer has led to a search for comparable pieces, such as silver and metal censers from the 6th-7th centuries with similar characteristics. Our study has allowed both the date of the Lladó censer’s creation and its possible manufacturing workshop to be determined
