When taking a closer look at the more recent capitalism induced changes of the job market, one is increasingly noticing a de-standardized and precarious type of employment within in the low pay sector: the self-employed labor based on a contract for services, especially in the field of skilled crafts and trades. One group of employment in that field, which to date has not been subject to research, is constituted of people who primarily offer their services on specific crafting job online portals and thus have transferred the recruiting of new clients into the virtual space. These online portals are characterized by specific procedures of supply and demand, asymmetry of information, a veiled 'dumping competition' as well as a profile- and feedback system which is structuring, and most of all disciplining work processes well into the realm of everyday life. To portrait these dynamics, "MyHammer.de", the market leader among those online platforms, will be used as an example. This article seeks to examine how in this growing segment of atypical employment - which can be regarded prototypically of precarious work under increasing marketization and the socially mediated imperative of entrepreneurial autonomy - claims of independence and ideals of self-realization through self-employment are turned into its opposites. The empirical basis for this analysis will be provided by interviews with solo self-employed artisans

(Autorenreferat)"This article is a synopsis of empirical studies of the research group 'Youth, Media and Culture' at the university of Trier representing the development of different kinds of local and translocal forms of sociality youth culture. In a world of ubiquitous globalisation and mediasation processes new types of small social worlds and also new forms of translocal youth cultures are generated. It is remarkable that the activities and styles of youth cultures consist of a mixture of local and global elements which can be described as a process of 'youth cultural glocalisation'. Research studies of the hardcore scene deal with ethical principles such as individual responsibility, integrity of creation and both a critical and emancipated view of the world. These principles which influence the everyday life of the scene members are getting more and more globalised. All in all the hardcore scene can be conceptualized as a prototype of a glocalised youth culture with an international value system and a translocal network." (author's abstract

Betriebliche Auswirkungen der Covid-19 Pandemie
The Covid-19 pandemic has negative consequences for the economy and companies in many respects.
The study seeks to examine the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on firms in manufacturing.
The data basis is a self-prepared survey in which a total of 1091 companies from the manufacturing sector in Germany participated between May and October 2021. Several statistical methods (cross-tabulations, chi-square tests, correlations) are used for evaluation.
The business outlook for 2022 is assessed more positive by companies in the German manufacturing sector compared with 2021. 10 % of the companies see their existence as being threatened to a considerable extent due to the pandemic situation; this applies primarily to smaller companies. Although smaller companies are more threatened in their existence, adjustments in corporate strategies do not take place more frequently. Insourcing - as a possible strategic response - is motivated by the pandemic consequences (such as supply chain problems) in about 17 % of cases. Adjustments of headcounts hardly took place in 2021. Only just under 11 % of companies reported staff reductions in the core workforce, while just under 25 % reduced staff from the peripheral workforces (mini-jobs, temporary work, work under contract). 17 % of those using short-time work also reduced headcounts from the core workforce due to the pandemic, 27 % from the peripheral workforce. In cases where the existence of the company is threatened, short-time work and staff reductions are used as complementary strategies. The data support the assumption that peripheral workers act as flexibility buffers.
The Covid-19 pandemic has an impact on the manufacturing sector, but the effects are weaker than expected.
