Jagten på det gode citat - Om vanskelighederne ved at finde egnede ordbogseksempler i et korpus

The paper deals with the difficulties involved in selecting good dictionary examples from a large text corpus, especially if all examples are to be taken directly from the corpus without modifications. The author gives examples of the problems that the lexicographer has to cope with when he is put face to face with authentic language, such as length, disturbing elements, difficult \Vords, errors, and lack of naturalness. Thus, the emergence of text corpora has not made the lexicographer's work easier, but the result will hopefully be a better dictionary with better examples

De oversete og mishandlede ordforbindelser − hvilke, hvor og hvorfor?

This article analyses some of the most important and recent general and phraseological dictionaries of Danish on the assumption that they cover only a fragment of all relevant types of lexicalised phrasemes. The results of the analysis indicate, among other things, that the so-called idiom dictionaries cover only a small number of phraseological types, i.e. typically the iconographical idioms even though they include other types in a rather unsystematic way. Paradoxically, the general dictionaries seem to be the right place to look up this part of the vocabulary as well. From a typological point of view, however, the general dictionaries also have trouble with the category called Phraseoschablonen in the German tradition or schematic idioms in the English tradition. Furthermore, the article discusses the overall lexicographical relevance of a fine-grained phraseological typology, which has to some extent been questioned by the strictly functional Aarhus school of lexicography. At the same time the analysis offers a lexicological overview of a large number of quite differentiated phraseological categories

Fra ordbog til wordnet. Hvordan udmøntes en traditionel ordbogsdefinition i en formaliseret wordnetbeskrivelse?

In this article we discuss the problems involved in transforming traditional dictionary definitions into formalised descriptions meant for computational use. The starting point is the making of the Danish wordnet, DanNet, which is based on a large monolingual dictionary. In the process of extracting semantic information from the entries it turns out that much information is already present in the dictionary text, but a lot of useful information is only implicitly there or presupposed. The article falls into three parts: firstly, the principles of lexicographic definitions are discussed, in particular the ones used in The Danish Dictionary (Den Danske Ordbog). Secondly, it is demonstrated how definitions are “translated” into semantic relations in the wordnet, and examples of how missing information is added are given. Finally, the idea of making general dictionaries and wordnets in one operation is put forward and discussed
