Constraining New Physics with D meson decays
Latest Lattice results on form factors evaluation from first principles
show that the standard model (SM) branching ratios prediction for the leptonic
decays and the semileptonic SM branching ratios of the
and meson decays are in good agreement with the world average
experimental measurements. It is possible to disprove New Physics hypothesis or
find bounds over several models beyond the SM. Using the observed leptonic and
semileptonic branching ratios for the D meson decays, we performed a combined
analysis to constrain non standard interactions which mediate the transition. This is done either by a model independent way through
the corresponding Wilson coefficients or in a model dependent way by finding
the respective bounds over the relevant parameters for some models beyond the
standard model. In particular, we obtain bounds for the Two Higgs Doublet Model
Type-II and Type III, the Left-Right model, the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard
Model with explicit R-Parity violation and Leptoquarks. Finally, we estimate
the transverse polarization of the lepton in the decay and we found it

Neutrino mass determination from a four-zero texture mass matrix
We analyze the different parametrizations of a general four-zero texture mass
matrices for quarks and leptons, that are able to reproduce the CKM and PMNS
mixing matrices. This study is done through a Chi-Square analysis. In quark
sector, only four solutions are found to be compatible with CKM mixing matrix.
In leptonic sector, using the last experimental results about the mixing angles
in the neutrino sector, our Chi-Square analysis shows a preferred value for
m_nu_3 to be around 0.05 eV independently of the parametrization of the
four-zero texture mass matrices chosen for the charged leptons and neutrinos.Comment: 9 pages, 3 figures, 2 tables. Accepted for publication in Physical

Dependence on the Identification of the Scale Energy Parameter Q 2 in the Quark Distribution Functions for a DIS Production of Za
We discuss the Z-production in a DIS (Deep Inelastic Scattering) process e + p → e + Z + X using the Parton Model, within the context of the Standard Model. In contrast with deep inelastic eP-scattering (e + p → e + X), where the choice of Q2, as the transferred momentum squared, is unambiguous; whereas in the case of boson production , the transferred momentum squared, at quark level, depends on the reaction mechanism (where is the EW interaction taking place). We suggest a proposal based on kinematics of the process considered and the usual criterion for Q2 , which leads to a simple and practical prescription to calculate Z-production via ep-DIS. We also introduce different options in order o perform the convolution of the parton distribution functions (PDFs) and the scattering amplitude of he quark processes. Our aim in this work is to analyze and show how large could be the dependence of the total cross section rates on different possible prescriptions used for the identification of the scale energy parameter Q2 . We present results for the total cross section as a function of the total energy √s of the system ep, in the range 300 <√s ≤ 1300 Ge
Energy Content of Seeds of Common Sunflowers (Helianthus annuus) in the Diet of Scaled Quail (Callipepla squamata) in Southeastern New Mexico
We analyzed the energy content of seeds of common sunflowers (Helianthus annuus) obtained from the crops of scaled quail (Callipepla squamata) collected from plains-mesa sand-scrub habitat in Eddy and Lea counties, New Mexico. Seeds were removed from crops and dried for 48 hours at 60°C to remove moisture and to standardize masses. Seeds were then analyzed for gross caloric value (i.e., energy content) in an oxygen bomb calorimeter. Energy content of seeds of common sunflowers from New Mexico was greater than that of many seeds previously reported from the diet of scaled quail and other granivorous birds and comparable to previous measurements of seeds of the same species made in Kansas
