L’extrême centre est-il exportable ?

Cet article pose la question de l’éventuelle possibilité d’exporter le concept d’« extrême centre » du champ français vers d’autres pays européens, ayant connu à partir de 1795 et sous l’Empire, l’influence ou le modèle d’une politisation ou d’une administration de type français. « L’extrême-centre » compris comme la politique de la modération couplée à un exécutif fort et à une souplesse idéologique de la part d’élites peu soucieuses de fermeté idéologique, peut être repéré dans le Royaume des Pays-Bas, après 1815. Durant la Restauration, la modération apparaît comme un projet, comme une pratique d’administration et enfin comme un langage rendant possible des perspectives de recherches comparées sur la vie politique des pays européens influencés par la France, bien après 1815.This article examines the possibility of exporting the concept of “extreme centre” from a French context to other European countries, those which after 1796 and under the Empire felt the influence of France as a model of politisation or were inspired by the French style of administration. The “extreme centre” – that is, the politics of moderation combined with a strong executive and an ideological flexibility among elites – can be detected in the Kingdom of the Netherlands after 1815. During the Restoration, moderation appeared as a deliberate programme, as an administrative technique, and in the end as a language – perspectives inviting new research that would compare the political life of European countries influenced by France well after 1815
