Incoherent pion photoproduction on the deuteron in the first resonance region

    Get PDF
Incoherent pion photoproduction on the deuteron is studied in the first resonance region. The unpolarized cross section, the beam asymmetry, and the vector and tensor target asymmetries are calculated in the framework of a diagrammatic approach. Pole diagrams and one-loop diagrams with NNNN scattering in the final state are taken into account. An elementary operator for pion photoproduction on the nucleon is taken in various on-shell forms and calculated using the SAID and MAID multipole analyses. Model dependence of the obtained results is discussed in some detail. A comparison with predictions of other works is given. Although a reasonable description of many available experimental data on the unpolarized total and differential cross sections and photon asymmetry has been achieved, in some cases a significant disagreement between the theory and experiment has been found. Invoking known information on the reactions γdπ0d\gamma d\to\pi^0 d and γdnp\gamma d\to np we predict the total photoabsorption cross section for deuterium. We find that our values strongly overestimate experimental data in the vicinity of the Δ\Delta peak.Comment: 22 pages, 23 figure

Calculating extrusion textures of the alloy Mn-AI-C

The alloy Mn-Al-C (magnetic z-phase) has a face-centered tetragonal lattice* with the superstructure L10 (Shangurov, Gornostyrev, Teitel et al., 1990). The tetragonal crystal axes c (the directions of the easy magnetization) of the grain lattices of the polycrystal permanent magnet must be preferably oriented along the magnet axis. In the present paper the forming of the axial extrusion textures in the alloy Mn-Al-C is investigated theoretically. The texture inhomogeneity is taken into account by solving the boundary value problem of plasticity

Evaluating the flow stress of electrical steel under cold rolling in terms of the strain-rate hardening effect

The flow stress of the Fe+3%Si electrical steel under actual cold rolling conditions is evaluated on the basis of the approximation of the existing data on the work hardening and strain-rate hardening of this steel during cold tensile testing. It has been discovered that ductility is significant during electrical steel cold rolling and, besides, that its value is lower for large strains and strain rates than for low strains and strain rates. © 2016 Author(s)

Industrial recycling of technogenic wastes and mineral ore processing

Drop damage resistance is experimentally found and breaking stress is determined in radial compression tests for green and dry chrome concentrate briquettes. The paper studies the influence of compaction pressure and the amount of the binder on compactibility in the testing of cylindrical briquettes. The aim of the study is to determine optimal briquetting process conditions for the production of high-quality metallurgical briquettes by roll briquetting. © 2016 Author(s)

Determining the Young's modulus of a cellular titanium implant by FEM simulation

The role of additive manufacturing is noted for the construction of titanium medical implants. The purpose of the study is to determine the Young's modulus of cellular titanium implants, which is based on calculations performed by finite element analysis. A honeycomb structure from intersecting cylinder surfaces is offered for the implant made of the Ti-6Al-4V alloy. Boundary conditions are stated for the loading of the implant structure. It is demonstrated that the Young's modulus can be reduced more than three times comparing to a solid titanium alloy. Zones of strain and stress localization located near the abutment of the cylindrical surfaces. Recommendations for the further improvement of the implant architecture are generated. © 2017 Author(s).Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, Minobrnauka: 218We hereby acknowledge the support of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Russian Federation, in accordance with the decree of the Government of April 9, 2010, No. 218, project number 03.G25.31.0234

    Ion Source DECRIS-3

    Get PDF
The ECR ion source DECRIS-3 is the copy of the mVINIS ion source which was designed and built in Dubna for the TESLA Accelerator Installation (Belgrade, Yugoslavia) in 1997. The assembly of the source was completely finished in the end of 1998 and then it was installed at the FLNR ECR test bench. The source was successfully tested with some gases and metals by using the MIVOC technique. In nearest future the source will be capable of ECR plasma heating using two different frequencies simultaneously. We are also going to use the DECRIS-3 ion source to design 1+ -> n+ technique for the DRIBs (Dubna Radioactive Ion Beams) project
