    TT-adic exponential sums of polynomials in one variable

    The TT-adic exponential sum of a polynomial in one variable is studied. An explicit arithmetic polygon in terms of the highest two exponents of the polynomial is proved to be a lower bound of the Newton polygon of the CC-function of the T-adic exponential sum. This bound gives lower bounds for the Newton polygon of the LL-function of exponential sums of pp-power order

    Recently, wind data from mesophere-stratosphere-troposphere (MST) radars have been used to study the spectra of gravity waves in the atmosphere (Scheffler and Liu, 1985; VanZandt et al., 1985). Since MST radar measures the line-of-sight Doppler velocities, it senses the components of the wave-associated velocities along its beam directions. These components are related through the polarization relations which depend on the frequency and wave number of the wave. Therfore, the radar-observed velocity spectrum will be different from the original gravity-wave spectrum. Their relationship depends on the frequency and wave number of the wave as well as the propagation geometry. This relation can be used to interpret the observed data. It can also be used to test the assumption of gravity-wave spectrum (Scheffler and Liu, 1985). In deriving this relation, the background atmosphere has been assumed to be motionless. Obviously, the Doppler shift due to the background wind will change the shape of the gravity-wave power spectrum as well as its relation with the radar-observed spectrum.     Cell response to RGD density in cross-linked artificial extracellular matrix protein films

    This study examines the adhesion, spreading, and migration of human umbilical vein endothelial cells on cross-linked films of artificial extracellular matrix (aECM) proteins. The aECM proteins described here were designed for application in small-diameter grafts and are composed of elastin-like structural repeats and fibronectin cell-binding domains. aECM-RGD contains the RGD sequence derived from fibronectin; the negative control protein aECM-RDG contains a scrambled cell-binding domain. The covalent attachment of poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) to aECM substrates reduced nonspecific cell adhesion to aECM-RDG-PEG but did not preclude sequence-specific adhesion of endothelial cells to aECM-RGD-PEG. Variation in ligand density was accomplished by the mixing of aECM-RGD-PEG and aECM-RDG-PEG prior to cross-linking. Increasing the density of RGD domains in cross-linked films resulted in more robust cell adhesion and spreading but did not affect cell migration speed. Control of cell-binding domain density in aECM proteins can thus be used to modulate cell adhesion and spreading and will serve as an important design tool as these materials are further developed for use in surgery, tissue engineering, and regenerative medicine

    Representations and classification of traveling wave solutions to Sinh-G{\"o}rdon equation

    Two concepts named atom solution and combinatory solution are defined. The classification of all single traveling wave atom solutions to Sinh-G{\"o}rdon equation is obtained, and qualitative properties of solutions are discussed. In particular, we point out that some qualitative properties derived intuitively from dynamic system method aren't true. In final, we prove that our solutions to Sinh-G{\"o}rdon equation include all solutions obtained in the paper[Fu Z T et al, Commu. in Theor. Phys.(Beijing) 2006 45 55].     Lattice study on kaon nucleon scattering length in the I=1 channel

    Using the tadpole improved clover Wilson quark action on small, coarse and anisotropic lattices, KNKN scattering length in the I=1 channel is calculated within quenched approximation. The results are extrapolated towards the chiral and physical kaon mass region. Finite volume and finite lattice spacing errors are also analyzed and a result in the infinite volume and continuum limit is obtained which is compatible with the experiment and the results from Chiral Perturbation Theory.Comment: 15 pages, 4 figures, typeset by latex using elsart.cls,minor change

    The classification of traveling wave solutions and superposition of multi-solutions to Camassa-Holm equation with dispersion

    Under the traveling wave transformation, Camassa-Holm equation with dispersion is reduced to an integrable ODE whose general solution can be obtained using the trick of one-parameter group. Furthermore combining complete discrimination system for polynomial, the classifications of all single traveling wave solutions to the Camassa-Holm equation with dispersion is obtained. In particular, an affine subspace structure in the set of the solutions of the reduced ODE is obtained. More general, an implicit linear structure in Camassa-Holm equation with dispersion is found. According to the linear structure, we obtain the superposition of multi-solutions to Camassa-Holm equation with dispersion
