    Searching for BSM neutrino interactions in dark matter detectors

    Neutrino interactions beyond the Standard Model (BSM) are theoretically well motivated and have an important impact on the future precision measurement of neutrino oscillation. In this work, we study the sensitivity of a multi-ton-scale liquid Xenon dark matter detector equipped with an intense radiative neutrino source to various BSM neutrino-electron interactions. We consider the conventional Non-Standard Interactions (NSIs), other more generalized four-fermion interactions including scalar and tensor forms, and light-boson mediated interactions. The work shows that with realistic experimental setups, one can achieve unprecedented sensitivity to these BSM neutrino-electron interactions.Comment: fig. 7 added, matches the published versio

    Combining dark matter detectors and electron-capture sources to hunt for new physics in the neutrino sector

    In this letter we point out the possibility to study new physics in the neutrino sector using dark matter detectors based on liquid xenon. These are characterized by very good spatial resolution and extremely low thresholds for electron recoil energies. When combined with a radioactive νe\nu_e source, both features in combination allow for a very competitive sensitivity to neutrino magnetic moments and sterile neutrino oscillations. We find that, for realistic values of detector size and source strength, the bound on the neutrino magnetic moment can be improved by an order of magnitude with respect to the present value. Regarding sterile neutrino searches, we find that most of the gallium anomaly could be explored at the 95% confidence level just using shape information.Comment: 5 pages, 2 figures.     Measuring the Relative Strong Phase in D0→K∗+K−D^0 \to K^{*+} K^- and D0→K∗−K+D^0 \to K^{*-} K^+ Decays

    In a recently suggested method for measuring the weak phase γ\gamma in B±→K±(KK∗)DB^\pm \to K^\pm (KK^*)_D decays, the relative strong phase δD\delta_D in D0→K∗+K−D^0 \to K^{*+} K^- and D0→K∗−K+D^0 \to K^{*-} K^+ decays (equivalently, in D0→K∗+K−D^0 \to K^{*+} K^- and \od \to K^{*+} K^-) plays a role. It is shown how a study of the Dalitz plot in D0→K+K−π0D^0 \to K^+ K^- \pi^0 can yield information on this phase, and the size of the data sample which would give a useful measurement is estimated.Comment: 13 pages, latex, 5 figures, submitted to Phys.
