Effective hadronic Lagrangian for charm mesons
An effective hadronic Lagrangian including the charm mesons is introduced to
study their interactions in hadronic matter. Using coupling constants that are
determined either empirically or by the SU(4) symmetry, we have evaluated the
absorption cross sections of and the scattering cross sections of

Intersection representation of digraphs in trees with few leaves
The leafage of a digraph is the minimum number of leaves in a host tree in
which it has a subtree intersection representation. We discuss bounds on the
leafage in terms of other parameters (including Ferrers dimension), obtaining a

Towards Long-endurance Flight: Design and Implementation of a Variable-pitch Gasoline-engine Quadrotor
Majority of today's fixed-pitch, electric-power quadrotors have short flight
endurance ( 1 hour) which greatly limits their applications. This paper
presents a design methodology for the construction of a long-endurance
quadrotor using variable-pitch rotors and a gasoline-engine. The methodology
consists of three aspects. Firstly, the rotor blades and gasoline engine are
selected as a pair, so that sufficient lift can be comfortably provided by the
engine. Secondly, drivetrain and airframe are designed. Major challenges
include airframe vibration minimization and power transmission from one engine
to four rotors while keeping alternate rotors contra-rotating. Lastly, a PD
controller is tuned to facilitate preliminary flight tests. The methodology has
been verified by the construction and successful flight of our gasoline
quadrotor prototype, which is designed to have a flight time of 2 to 3 hours
and a maximum take-off weight of 10 kg.Comment: 6 page
Logarithmic temperature dependence of Hall transport in granular metals
We have measured the Hall coefficient and the electrical conductivity
of a series of ultrathin indium tin oxide films between 2 and 300 K. A
robust \,\,ln law is observed in a considerably wide
temperature range of 2 and 120 K. This ln dependence is explained as
originated from the electron-electron interaction effect in the presence of
granularity, as newly theoretically predicted. Furthermore, we observed a
\,\,ln law from 3 K up to several tens K, which also arose
from the Coulomb interaction effect in inhomogeneous systems. These results
provide strong experimental supports for the current theoretical concepts for
charge transport in granular metals with intergrain tunneling conductivity

Observation of strong electron dephasing in disordered CuGeAu thin films
We report the observation of strong electron dephasing in a series of
disordered CuGeAu thin films. A very short electron dephasing
time possessing very weak temperature dependence around 6 K, followed by an
upturn with further decrease in temperature below 4 K, is found. The upturn is
progressively more pronounced in more disordered samples. Moreover, a ln
dependent, but high-magnetic-field-insensitive, resistance rise persisting from
above 10 K down to 30 mK is observed in the films. These results suggest a
nonmagnetic dephasing process which is stronger than any known mechanism and
may originate from the coupling of conduction electrons to dynamic defects.Comment: to appear in Phys. Rev. Let
Twisted and Nontwisted Bifurcations Induced by Diffusion
We discuss a diffusively perturbed predator-prey system. Freedman and
Wolkowicz showed that the corresponding ODE can have a periodic solution that
bifurcates from a homoclinic loop. When the diffusion coefficients are large,
this solution represents a stable, spatially homogeneous time-periodic solution
of the PDE. We show that when the diffusion coefficients become small, the
spatially homogeneous periodic solution becomes unstable and bifurcates into
spatially nonhomogeneous periodic solutions.
The nature of the bifurcation is determined by the twistedness of an
equilibrium/homoclinic bifurcation that occurs as the diffusion coefficients
decrease. In the nontwisted case two spatially nonhomogeneous simple periodic
solutions of equal period are generated, while in the twisted case a unique
spatially nonhomogeneous double periodic solution is generated through
period-doubling.

Field theoretic calculation of scalar turbulence
The cascade rate of passive scalar and Bachelor's constant in scalar
turbulence are calculated using the flux formula. This calculation is done to
first order in perturbation series. Batchelor's constant in three dimension is
found to be approximately 1.25. In higher dimension, the constant increases as
