Multi-breathers and high order rogue waves for the nonlinear Schr\"odinger equation on the elliptic function background
We construct the multi-breather solutions of the focusing nonlinear
Schr\"odinger equation (NLSE) on the background of elliptic functions by the
Darboux transformation, and express them in terms of the determinant of theta
functions. The dynamics of the breathers in the presence of various kinds of
backgrounds such as dn, cn, and non-trivial phase-modulating elliptic solutions
are presented, and their behaviors dependent on the effect of backgrounds are
elucidated. We also determine the asymptotic behaviors for the multi-breather
solutions with different velocities in the limit , where the
solution in the neighborhood of each breather tends to the simple one-breather
solution. Furthermore, we exactly solve the linearized NLSE using the squared
eigenfunction and determine the unstable spectra for elliptic function
background. By using them, the Akhmediev breathers arising from these
modulational instabilities are plotted and their dynamics are revealed.
Finally, we provide the rogue-wave and higher-order rogue-wave solutions by
taking the special limit of the breather solutions at branch points and the
generalized Darboux transformation. The resulting dynamics of the rogue waves
involves rich phenomena: depending on the choice of the background and
possessing different velocities relative to the background. We also provide an
example of the multi- and higher-order rogue wave solution.Comment: 45 pages, 16 figure
Darboux transformation and solitonic solution to the coupled complex short pulse equation
The Darboux transformation (DT) for the coupled complex short pulse (CCSP)
equation is constructed through the loop group method. The DT is then utilized
to construct various exact solutions including bright soliton, dark-soliton,
breather and rogue wave solutions to the CCSP equation. In case of vanishing
boundary condition (VBC), we perform the inverse scattering analysis to
understand the soliton solution better. Breather and rogue wave solutions are
constructed in case of non-vanishing boundary condition (NVBC). Moreover, we
conduct a modulational instability (MI) analysis based on the method of squared
eigenfunctions, whose result confirms the condition for the existence of rogue

Case report: Anesthetic management for removal of tumor thrombus in the inferior vena cava and pulmonary artery in renal cell carcinoma
Anesthetic management of patients with renal cell carcinoma with tumor thrombus in the inferior vena cava (IVC) is challenging. This paper reports the experience of anesthesia management in a patient with advanced renal cell carcinoma with thrombus accumulation in the IVC, right atrium, and pulmonary artery who underwent radical nephrectomy and tumor thrombus removal assisted by cardiopulmonary bypass. The emboli, measuring approximately 3 × 6 cm in the left inferior pulmonary artery and 4 × 13 cm in the right main pulmonary artery, were removed completely. During incision of the IVC under systemic heparinization, significant blood loss occurred in the surgical field. The surgery took 724 min, and cardiopulmonary bypass took 396 min. Intraoperative blood loss was 22,000 ml. The patient was extubated 39 hours after surgery and stayed in intensive care unit for 3 days. At 1 year follow-up, the patient was in good health and leading a normal life
A study of two Chinese patients with tetrasomy and pentasomy 15q11q13 including Prader-Willi/Angelman syndrome critical region present with developmental delays and mental impairment
BACKGROUND: The proximal chromosome 15q is prone to unequal crossover, leading to rearrangements. Although 15q11q13 duplications are common in patients with developmental delays and mental impairment, 15q aneusomies resulting in greater or equal to 4 copies of 15q11q13 are rare and no pentasomy 15q11q13 has been reported in the literature. Thus far, all reported high copy number 15q11q13 cases are from the West populations and no such study in Chinese patients have been documented. Dosage-response pattern of high copy number 15q11q13 on clinical presentations is still a subject for further study. CASE PRESENTATION: In this study, we characterized two Han Chinese patients with high copy number 15q11q13. Using chromosome banding, high resolution SNP-based cytogenomic array, Fluorescence in situ hybridization, and PCR-based microsatellite analysis, we identified two patients with tetrasomy 15q11q13 and pentasomy 15q11q13. Both 15q11q13 aneusomies resulted from a maternally inherited supernumerary marker chromosome 15, and each was composed of two different sized 15q11q13 segments covering the Prader-Willi/Angelman critical region: one being about 10 Mb with breakpoints at BP1 and BP5 regions on 15q11 and 15q13, respectively, and another about 8 Mb in size with breakpoints at BP1 and BP4 regions on 15q. Both patients presented with similar clinical features that included neurodevelopmental delays, mental impairment, speech and autistic behavior, and mild dysmorphism. The patient with pentasomy 15q11q13 was more severely affected than the patient with tetrasomy 15q11q13. Low birth weight was noted in patient with pentasomy 15q1q13. CONCLUSIONS: To the best of our knowledge, this is the first case of pentasomy 15q11q13 and the first study of high copy number 15q11q13 in Han Chinese patients. Our findings demonstrate that patients with tetrasomy and pentasomy of chromosome 15q11q13 share similar spectrum of phenotypes reported in other high copy number 15q11q13 patients in the West, and positive correlation between 15q11q13 copy number and degree of severity of clinical phenotypes. Low birth weight observed in the pentasomy 15q11q13 patient was not reported in other patients with high copy number 15q11q13. Additional studies would be necessary to further characterize high copy number 15q11q13 aneusomies
Effect of Lentinus sajor-caju on the chemical composition and antioxidant activity of highland barley straw under solid-state fermentation
IntroductionThe efficient utilization of straw resources as animal feed has gained considerable attention. The objective of this study was to evaluate whether Lentinus sajor-caju treatment alters the chemical composition and antioxidant activity of highland barley straw and enhances its functional value as a ruminant feed.MethodsThe chemical composition, antioxidant capacity, and metabolomic profile of highland barley straw were determined after 21 days of solid-state fermentation with L. sajor-caju at 25°C. The differential metabolites between fermented and unfermented highland barley straw were identified by LC–MS and the relationship between the identified metabolites and antioxidant capacity was elucidated.ResultsThe results showed that, compared with untreated highland barley straw, the crude protein and ether extract contents were higher (51.55 and 76.43%, respectively) in highland barley straw after 21 days of incubation with L. sajor-caju, whereas the hemicellulose, cellulose, and acid detergent lignin contents were lower (2.48, 25.08, and 45%, respectively). The total antioxidant capacity was significantly higher in L. sajor-caju-treated than in untreated highland barley straw. In total, 600 differential metabolites (301 upregulated and 299 downregulated) were identified between L. sajor-caju-fermented and unfermented highland barley straw. Correlation analysis results showed that Fe2+ scavenging and total phenolic content were strongly correlated with total antioxidant capacity. Meanwhile, the differential flavonoid metabolites between fermented and unfermented highland barley straw were primarily associated with antioxidant activity, with kaempferol 3-xylosylglucoside, isoginkgetin, and rhoifolin being the most representative.ConclusionThus, this study demonstrates that L. sajor-caju could enhance the functional value of highland barley straw, showing the potential of L. sajor-caju for improving the utilization of agricultural straws in ruminants
In-Orbit Instrument Performance Study and Calibration for POLAR Polarization Measurements
POLAR is a compact space-borne detector designed to perform reliable
measurements of the polarization for transient sources like Gamma-Ray Bursts in
the energy range 50-500keV. The instrument works based on the Compton
Scattering principle with the plastic scintillators as the main detection
material along with the multi-anode photomultiplier tube. POLAR has been
launched successfully onboard the Chinese space laboratory TG-2 on 15th
September, 2016. In order to reliably reconstruct the polarization information
a highly detailed understanding of the instrument is required for both data
analysis and Monte Carlo studies. For this purpose a full study of the in-orbit
performance was performed in order to obtain the instrument calibration
parameters such as noise, pedestal, gain nonlinearity of the electronics,
threshold, crosstalk and gain, as well as the effect of temperature on the
above parameters. Furthermore the relationship between gain and high voltage of
the multi-anode photomultiplier tube has been studied and the errors on all
measurement values are presented. Finally the typical systematic error on
polarization measurements of Gamma-Ray Bursts due to the measurement error of

Molecular Characterization and Antimicrobial Susceptibility of Nasal Staphylococcus aureus Isolates from a Chinese Medical College Campus
Staphylococcus aureus colonization and infection occur more commonly among persons living or working in crowded conditions, but characterization of S. aureus colonization within medical communities in China is lacking. A total of 144 (15.4%, 144/935) S. aureus isolates, including 28 (3.0%, 28/935) MRSA isolates, were recovered from the nares of 935 healthy human volunteers residing on a Chinese medical college campus. All S. aureus isolates were susceptible to vancomycin, quinupristin/dalfopristin and linezolid but the majority were resistant to penicillin (96.5%), ampicillin/sulbactam (83.3%) and trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole (93.1%). 82%, (23/28) of the MRSA isolates and 66% (77/116) of the MSSA isolates were resistant to multiple antibiotics, and 3 MRSA isolates were resistant to mupirocin—an agent commonly used for nasal decolonization. 16 different sequence types (STs), as well as SCCmec genes II, III, IVd, and V, were represented among MRSA isolates. We also identified, for the first time, two novel STs (ST1778 and ST1779) and 5 novel spa types for MRSA. MRSA isolates were distributed in different sporadic clones, and ST59-MRSA-VId- t437 was found within 3 MRSA isolates. Moreover, one isolate with multidrug resistance belonging to ST398-MRSA-V- t571 associated with animal infections was identified, and 3 isolates distributed in three different clones harbored PVL genes. Collectively, these data indicate a high prevalence of nasal MRSA carriage and molecular heterogeneity of S. aureus isolates among persons residing on a Chinese medical college campus. Identification of epidemic MRSA clones associated with community infection supports the need for more effective infection control measures to reduce nasal carriage and prevent dissemination of MRSA to hospitalized patients and health care workers in this community
