Vision-based Detection of Acoustic Timed Events: a Case Study on Clarinet Note Onsets

Acoustic events often have a visual counterpart. Knowledge of visual information can aid the understanding of complex auditory scenes, even when only a stereo mixdown is available in the audio domain, \eg identifying which musicians are playing in large musical ensembles. In this paper, we consider a vision-based approach to note onset detection. As a case study we focus on challenging, real-world clarinetist videos and carry out preliminary experiments on a 3D convolutional neural network based on multiple streams and purposely avoiding temporal pooling. We release an audiovisual dataset with 4.5 hours of clarinetist videos together with cleaned annotations which include about 36,000 onsets and the coordinates for a number of salient points and regions of interest. By performing several training trials on our dataset, we learned that the problem is challenging. We found that the CNN model is highly sensitive to the optimization algorithm and hyper-parameters, and that treating the problem as binary classification may prevent the joint optimization of precision and recall. PERAN PENYIDIK DALAM PRAPENUNTUTAN BERDASARKAN KUHAP

Tujuan dilakukannya penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana peranan  penyidik  dalam perampungan  berita  acara  pemeriksaan  tersangka  sesuai  dengan    peraturan  perundang-undangan dan bagaimana  upaya  penyidik  setelah  berkas  perkara dikembalikan  oleh jaksa  penuntut  umum. Dengan menggunakan metode penelitian yuridis normatif, disimpulkan: 1. Peran Penyidik pada menhadapi, penanganan perkara pidana pada dasarnya secara implisit adanya kecepatan penyidikan dan penyelesaian perkara serta penyempurnaan guna penyidangannya. Hal ini dalam rangka mewujudkan peradilan yang sederhana, cepat, dan biaya ringan dalam menyelesaikan perkara-perkara pidana baik sebelum maupun sesudah sidang pengadilan. 2.Kemungkinan dikembalikannya berkas perkara oleh penuntut umum kepada penyidik adalah semata-mata untuk kepentingan tersangka dan kesempurnaan penuntutan sehingga secara jelas apakah perkara tersebut memenuhi persyaratan atau tidaknya untuk dilimpahkan ke pengadilan yang berwenang mengadili. Tidak adanya suatu ketentuan yang memberikan pembatasan berapa kali berkas perkara dapat dikembalikan dan akibat yang ditimbulkan bila berkas perkara tidak dikembalikan dari pihak penuntut umum apabila dalam tujuh hari tidak mengembalikan berkas perkara maka berkas perkara penyidikan dianggap selesai.Kata kunci: Peran Penyidik, Prapenuntuta

Respondent-driven sampling (RDS) method: Introduction and its potential use for social psychology research

Contrary to other non-probability sampling methods in which researchers actively recruit potential participants, respondent-driven sampling (RDS) relies on connection and trust within social networks to access hidden or hard-to-reach populations through a peer-to-peer recruitment process. These interdependency relations aligned with Indonesian communal culture. Personal network size calculation in the RDS method makes this innovative sampling method approximate random sampling methods, where findings from the sample could be generalized to the target population. Considering its superiority, the RDS method could be applied in social psychology research in Indonesia to explore current sensitive social issues among hidden or hard-to-reach Indonesian sub-populations, for instance, radical religious groups. The current article aimed to concisely describe the RDS method; discuss ethical considerations, strengths, and weaknesses of the RDS method; and outline the potential use of the RDS method in improving the contribution of social psychology research in Indonesia, for example, by advancing strategies for social intervention programs. It is followed by a brief step-by-step process to conduct a study using the RDS method
