The Process of Thinking by Prospective Teachers of Mathematics in Making Arguments

This study aimed to describe the process of thinking by prospective teachers of mathematics in making arguments. It was a qualitative research involving the mathematics students of STKIP PGRI Jombang as the subject of the study. Test and task-based semi structural interview were conducted for data collection. The result showed that 163 of 260 mathematics students argued using inductive and deductive warrants. The process of thinking by the prospective teachers of mathematics in making arguments had begun since they constructed their very first idea by figuring out some objects to make a conclusion. However, they also found a rebuttal from that conclusion, though they did not further describe what such rebuttal was. Therefore, they decided to construct the second ideas in order to verify the first ones through some pieces of definition

The Analysis of Financial Performance Using Economic Value Added (Eva) and Market Value Added (Mva) Methods and Its Influence on Stock Return of Transportation Company Listed in Indonesia Stock Exchange

This study was conducted to examine the effect of Economic Value Added (EVA) and Market Value Added (MVA) and Its Effect on Stock Return. The research sample was taken from 5 transport company listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange that have been through the process in accordance with the criteria of sample or random sampling method. Data analysis methods used in the study panel data analysis method using Eviews program. Results showed partial EVA has no real effect, with significant values of 0.2661, while MVA and significant influence on Return Stocks with significant value of 0.0463 as indicated by the results of the test statistic t. While simultaneously or jointly Economic Value Added (EVA) and Market Value Added (MVA) influence on Stock Return, this is evidenced by the results of the test statistic f the significant value of 0.038

Star formation and chemical evolution in SPH simulations: a statistical approach

In Smoothed Particles Hydrodynamics (SPH) codes with a large number of particles, star formation as well as gas and metal restitution from dying stars can be treated statistically. This approach allows to include detailed chemical evolution and gas re-ejection with minor computational effort. Here we report on a new statistical algorithm for star formation and chemical evolution, especially conceived for SPH simulations with large numbers of particles, and for parallel SPH codes. For the sake of illustration, we present also two astrophysical simulations obtained with this algorithm, implemented into the Tree-SPH code by Lia & Carraro (2000). In the first one, we follow the formation of an individual disc-like galaxy, predict the final structure and metallicity evolution, and test resolution effects. In the second one we simulate the formation and evolution of a cluster of galaxies, to demonstrate the capabilities of the algorithm in investigating the chemo-dynamical evolution of galaxies and of the intergalactic medium in a cosmological context.Comment: 17 pages, 20 figures, accepted for publication on MNRA

We calculate the welfare effects of the WSU wheat breeding programs for producers and consumers in Washington State, Oregon, Idaho, the United States and the rest of the world. We develop a partial equilibrium multi-region, multi-product, multi-variety trade model for wheat that provides consumer, producer and total surplus for each wheat class and region. Meningkatkan Self-esteemmahasiswa Stain Ponorogo Dengan Pelatihan Pengenalan Diri

Ketidakmampuan keluar dari krisis identitas pada masa remaja berdampak pada self-esteem yang rendah, dimana individu cenderung untuk merasa bahwa dirinya tidak mampuberprestasi, tidak berani menghadapi tantangantantangan dalam hidupnya dan tidak memiliki kepercayaan diri. Masalah remaja semacam ini juga ditemukan pada mahasiswa STAIN Ponorogo. Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas pelatihan pengenalan diri dalam meningkatkan self-esteem mahasiswa STAIN Ponorogo. Metode penelitian menggunakan quasi experiment untuk mengetahui efektivitas pelatihan pengenalan diri. Subjek penelitian sejumlah 30 orang yang dibagi menjadi dua kelompok. Kesimpulan penelitian ini memperlihatkan adanya peningkatan self-esteem yang signifikan pada mahasiswa STAIN yang ada dalam kelompok eksperimen antara sebelum dan sesudah pelatihan pengenalan diri. Hal ini ditunjukkan dengan nilai t pada taraf signifikansi 5%, t0= 14,724 dan t adalah 2,14 maka t0 > tt sehingga Ho ditolak atau Ha diterima. Pada taraf signifikansi 1%, t0= 14,724 dan tt adalah 2,98 maka t0 > tt sehingga Ho ditolak atau Ha diterima. Selain itu, terdapat perbedaan nilai posttest self-esteem mahasiswa yang mengikuti pelatihan pengenalan diri dan nilai posttest self-esteem mahasiswa yang tidak mengikuti pelatihan dengan perbedaan rata-rata 16,53333

April. 2016.Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui : (1) Hubungan yang positif dan signifikan antara pemanfaatan media video dengan prestasi belajar Sosiologi siswa kelas X IPS SMA Negeri 6 Surakarta. (2) Hubungan yang positif dan signifikan antara motivasi belajar dengan prestasi belajar Sosiologi siswa kelas X IPS SMA Negeri 6 Surakarta. (3) Hubungan yang positif dan signifikan antara pemanfaatan media video dan motivasi belajar dengan prestasi belajar Sosiologi siswa kelas X IPS SMA Negeri 6 Surakarta. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu metode penelitian kuantitatif. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas X IPS SMA Negeri 6 Surakarta. Sampel yang digunakan sejumlah 62 siswa diambil dengan teknik cluster random sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan angket dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis regresi ganda. Kesimpulan penelitian ini bahwa : (1) Terdapat hubungan yang positif dan signifikan antara pemanfaatan media video dengan prestasi belajar Sosiologi siswa kelas X IPS SMA Negeri 6 Surakarta. Berdasarkan hasil analisis regresi linier berganda diperoleh nilai signifikansi <0,05, yaitu 0,003. Jadi dapat dinyatakan bahwa korelasi positif dan signifikan, dengan hasil korelasi sebesar 0,351. (2) Terdapat hubungan yang positif dan signifikan antara motivasi belajar dengan prestasi belajar Sosiologi siswa kelas X IPS SMA Negeri 6 Surakarta. Berdasarkan hasil analisis regresi linier berganda diperoleh nilai signifikansi <0,05, yaitu 0,000. Jadi dapat dinyatakan bahwa korelasi positif dan sangat signifikan, dengan hasil korelasi sebesar 0,427. (3) Terdapat hubungan yang positif dan signifikan antara pemanfaatan media video dan motivasi belajar dengan prestasi belajar Sosiologi siswa kelas X IPS SMA Negeri 6 Surakarta. Dip-coating Senyawa Kalsium Fosfat Dari Batu Kapur Bukit Tui Dengan Variasi Ratio Mol Ca/p Melalui Metode Sol-gel

Preparation of Dip-Coating Calcium Phosphate via sol-gel method using natural limestone Bukit Tui as calcium precursors and diammonium hydrogen phosphate as phosphorus precursors with various Ca/P mol ratio has been investigated. Etanol was used as solvent and DEA (dietanolamine) as stabilizing agent. Powder were prepared by calcinated the sol at 950oC. The results characterized by Fourier Transform Infra-red, X-Ray diffraction and Scanning Electron Microscopy. FTIR results showed that the vibration form was PO43-, P2O74-, O-H and CO2. X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) patterns of powder with various Ca/P mol ratio showed that the product of calcium phosphate was Ca2P2O7 and also found the hydroxyapatite Ca10(PO4)6(0H)2 in Ca/P ratio mol 1,7. Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) images of powder calcium phosphate revealed that their morphology were spheric and homogen. The coating process was done at glass substrate with coating speed 20 cm/min by calcinations at 400oC. . X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) patterns of thin layer showed that the product was Ca2P2O7 and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) images of thin layer revealed that their morphology were bulk.Key words; natural limestone, calcium phosphate, hydroxyapatite, sol-gel, dip-coatin
