Low Complexity Mode Decision for 3D-HEVC

    Get PDF
High efficiency video coding- (HEVC-) based 3D video coding (3D-HEVC) developed by joint collaborative team on 3D video coding (JCT-3V) for multiview video and depth map is an extension of HEVC standard. In the test model of 3D-HEVC, variable coding unit (CU) size decision and disparity estimation (DE) are introduced to achieve the highest coding efficiency with the cost of very high computational complexity. In this paper, a fast mode decision algorithm based on variable size CU and DE is proposed to reduce 3D-HEVC computational complexity. The basic idea of the method is to utilize the correlations between depth map and motion activity in prediction mode where variable size CU and DE are needed, and only in these regions variable size CU and DE are enabled. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can save about 43% average computational complexity of 3D-HEVC while maintaining almost the same rate-distortion (RD) performance

NLO QCD + NLO EW corrections to WZZWZZ productions with leptonic decays at the LHC

Precision tests of the Standard Model (SM) require not only accurate experiments, but also precise and reliable theoretical predictions. Triple vector boson production provides a unique opportunity to investigate the quartic gauge couplings and check the validity of the gauge principle in the SM. Since the tree-level predictions alone are inadequate to meet this demand, the next-to-leading order (NLO) calculation becomes compulsory. In this paper, we calculate the NLO QCD + NLO electroweak (EW) corrections to the W±ZZW^{\pm}ZZ productions with subsequent leptonic decays at the 14 TeV14~{\rm TeV} LHC by adopting an improved narrow width approximation which takes into account the off-shell contributions and spin correlations from the W±W^{\pm}- and ZZ-boson leptonic decays. The NLO QCD+EW corrected integrated cross sections for the W±ZZW^{\pm}ZZ productions and some kinematic distributions of final products are provided. The results show that both the NLO QCD and NLO EW corrections are significant. In the jet-veto event selection scheme with pT,jetcut=50 GeVp_{T,jet}^{cut} = 50~ {\rm GeV}, the NLO QCD+EW relative corrections to the integrated cross section are 20.5%20.5\% and 31.1%31.1\%, while the genuine NLO EW relative corrections are −5.42%-5.42\% and −4.58%-4.58\%, for the W+ZZW^+ZZ and W−ZZW^-ZZ productions, respectively. We also investigate the theoretical dependence of the integrated cross section on the factorization/renormalization scale, and find that the scale uncertainty is underestimated at the LO due to the fact that the strong coupling αs\alpha_s is not involved in the LO matrix elements.Comment: 19 pages, 8 figure

Trade Conflicts and China's Macroeconomic Fluctuations ---An Empirical Analysis Based on Vector Autoregression Model

This paper uses the data from November 2016 to June 2018 to construct a VAR model to empirically analyze the impact of trade wars on the Chinese economy since the trade friction between China and the United States. The empirical results show that the trade conflict between China and the United States will have short-term effects on financial institution loans, net export fluctuations, capital markets, short-term international capital flows, and the RMB exchange rate. After the impact of the trade war, the Chinese economy will have a spontaneous adjustment function, which will cause a certain positive and negative change in economic changes. But over time, the impact of Sino-US trade conflicts on financial institution loans, net export volatility, asset prices, short-term international capital flows, and the RMB exchange rate has gradually weakened until the gradual convergence to the zero axis and the effect disappears

Deadline Constrained Cloud Computing Resources Scheduling through an Ant Colony System Approach

Cloud computing resources scheduling is essential for executing workflows in the cloud platform because it relates to both execution time and execution cost. In this paper, we adopt a model that optimizes the execution cost while meeting deadline constraints. In solving this problem, we propose an Improved Ant Colony System (IACS) approach featuring two novel strategies. Firstly, a dynamic heuristic strategy is used to calculate a heuristic value during an evolutionary process by taking the workflow topological structure into consideration. Secondly, a double search strategy is used to initialize the pheromone and calculate the heuristic value according to the execution time at the beginning and to initialize the pheromone and calculate heuristic value according to the execution cost after a feasible solution is found. Therefore, the proposed IACS is adaptive to the search environment and to different objectives. We have conducted extensive experiments based on workflows with different scales and different cloud resources. We compare the result with a particle swarm optimization (PSO) approach and a dynamic objective genetic algorithm (DOGA) approach. Experimental results show that IACS is able to find better solutions with a lower cost than both PSO and DOGA do on various scheduling scales and deadline conditions

AIM: To evaluate and compare the effect of combined transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) and arterial administration of Bletilla striata (a Chinese traditional medicine against liver tumor) versus TACE alone for the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in ACI rats. METHODS: Subcapsular implantation of a solid Morris hepatoma 3 924A (2 mm3) in the liver was carried out in 30 male ACI rats. Tumor volume (V1) was measured by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) on day 13 after implantation. The following different agents of interventional treatment were injected after retrograde catheterization via gastroduodenal artery (on day 14), namely, (A) TACE (0.1 mg mitomycin + 0.1 ml Lipiodol) + Bletilla striata (1.0 mg) (n=10); (B) TACE + Bletilla striata (1.0 mg) + ligation of hepatic artery (n=10), (C) TACE alone (control group, n=10). Tumor volume (V2) was assessed by MRI (on day 13 after treatment) and the tumor growth ratio (V2/V1) was calculated. RESULTS: The mean tumor volume before (V1) and after (V2) treatment was 0.0355 cm3 and 0.2248 cm3 in group A, 0.0374 cm3 and 0.0573 cm3 in group B, 0.0380 cm3 and 0.3674 cm3 in group C, respectively. The mean ratio (V2/V1) was 6.2791 in group A, 1.5324 in group B and 9.1382 in group C. Compared with the control group (group C), group B showed significant inhibition of tumor growth (P0.05). None of the animals died during implantation or in the postoperative period. CONCLUSION: Combination of TACE and arterial administration of Bletilla striata plus ligation of hepatic artery is more effective than TACE alone in the treatment of HCC in rats
