    Reliable data analysis through blockchain based crowdsourcing in mobile ad-hoc cloud

    Mobile Ad-hoc Cloud (MAC) is the constellation of nearby mobile devices to serve the heavy computational needs of the resource constrained edge devices. One of the major challenges of MAC is to convince the mobile devices to offer their limited resources for the shared computational pool. Credit based rewarding system is considered as an effective way of incentivizing the arbitrary mobile devices for joining the MAC network and to earn the credits through computational crowdsourcing. The next challenge is to get the reliable computation as incentives attract the malicious devices to submit fake computational results for claiming their reward and we have used the blockchain based reputation system for identifying the malicious participants of MAC.This paper presents a malicious node identification algorithm integrated within the Iroha based permissioned blockchain. Iroha is a project of hyperledger which is focused on mobile devices and thus light-weight in nature. It is used for keeping the track of rewarding and reputation system driven by the malicious node detection algorithm. Experiments are conducted for evaluated the implemented test-bed and results show the effectiveness of algorithm in identifying the malicious devices and conducting the reliable data analysis through the blockchain based computational crowdsourcing in MAC

    Self-cleaning and antibiofouling enamel surface by slippery liquid-infused technique.

    We aimed to create a slippery liquid-infused enamel surface with antibiofouling property to prevent dental biofilm/plaque formation. First, a micro/nanoporous enamel surface was obtained by 37% phosphoric acid etching. The surface was then functionalized by hydrophobic low-surface energy heptadecafluoro-1,1,2,2-tetra- hydrodecyltrichlorosilane. Subsequent infusion of fluorocarbon lubricants (Fluorinert FC-70) into the polyfluoroalkyl-silanized rough surface resulted in an enamel surface with slippery liquid-infused porous surface (SLIPS). The results of water contact angle measurement, diffuse-reflectance Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and atomic force microscope confirmed that the SLIPS was successfully constructed on the enamel surface. The antibiofouling property of the SLIPS was evaluated by the adsorption of salivary protein of mucin and Streptococcus mutans in vitro, as well as dental biofilm formation using a rabbit model in vivo. The results showed that the SLIPS on the enamel surface significantly inhibited mucin adhesion and S. mutans biofilm formation in vitro, and inhibited dental plaque formation in vivo.published_or_final_versio

    The Yirba (128 km) pluton is an early Paleozoic dioritic intrusion of western Kunlun orogenic belt, northwest China as an important element when reconstructing the evolution history of this belt. Due to the scarcity of field data and methodological difference in studying this pluton, however, no consensus for its age, source and tectonic setting has been adopted. In this paper, we present new geochronological and geochemical data for the Yirba pluton, aiming to better understand its age, source, and hence the early Paleozoic tectonic evolutionary history of western Kunlun. U-Pb data by single grain zircon analyses suggest that the Yirba pluton was emplaced 471 ± 5 Ma ago and contains ca. 490 Ma zircon grains inherited from source, or captured in the magma chamber. The pluton is enriched in Al 2 O 3 (15.7% ∼ 18.4%), Sr (470 ∼ 864 μg/g) and other LILEs (large ion lithosphile elements), but relatively depleted in HFSE (high field strength elements and HREE), with LREE-enriched patterns and low to medium europium anomalies (δEu = ∼ 0.7), showing typical characteristics of I-type, volcanic arc granitoids. Although its relatively high Al 2 O 3, Sr and low MgO contents make it resemble adakite, its relatively high Yb (1.92 ∼ 2.88 μg/g), Y (19.4 ∼ 34.0 μg/g) contents, low Sr/Y (24.2 ∼ 37.0) , Zr/Sm (7.3 ∼ 21) and relatively high initial Sr isotope ratios (0.7075 ∼ 0.7091) do not support a subducting slab origin. Its Nd model ages (1.06 ∼ 1.35 Ga) indicate a juvenile source, while its O isotope compositions (+5.7‰ ∼ + 7.4‰) and Sr-O isotope relationship preclude significant involvement of sialic materials. The major, trace, REE and Nd-Sr-O isotope compositions strongly suggest that the Yirba pluton was formed by partial melting of mafic lower crust in a southward growing, active continental margin environment.     Inhibitory effect of silver diamine fluoride on dentine demineralisation and collagen degradation

    Objective To investigate the inhibitory effects of 38% silver diamine fluoride (SDF) on demineralised dentine. Methods Human dentine blocks were demineralised and allocated to four groups: SF, F, S and W. The blocks in group SF received a topical application of 38% SDF solution (253,900 ppm Ag, 44,800 ppm F), group F received a 10% sodium fluoride solution (44,800 ppm F), group S received a 42% silver nitrate solution (253,900 ppm Ag) and group W received deionised water (control). They were subjected to pH cycling using demineralisation solution (pH 5) and remineralisation solution (pH 7) for 8 days. The surface morphology, crystal characteristics, lesion depth and collagen matrix degradation of the specimens were investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), micro-CT testing and spectrophotometry with a hydroxyproline assay. Results The surface morphology under SEM showed evident demineralisation with exposed collagen in groups S and W, but not in group SF. Clusters of granular spherical grains were observed in the cross-sections of specimens in groups SF and F. XRD revealed precipitates of silver chloride in groups SF and S. The mean lesion depths (±SD) of groups SF, F, S and W were 182 ± 32 μm, 204 ± 26 μm, 259 ± 42 μm and 265 ± 40 μm, respectively (SDF, F < S, W; p < 0.01). Groups SF and S had significantly less hydroxyproline liberated from the dentine matrix than groups F and W (p < 0.01). Conclusion The use of 38% SDF inhibited demineralisation and preserved collagen from degradation in demineralised dentine.
