    Signaling Game-based Misbehavior Inspection in V2I-enabled Highway Operations

    Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I) communications are increasingly supporting highway operations such as electronic toll collection, carpooling, and vehicle platooning. In this paper we study the incentives of strategic misbehavior by individual vehicles who can exploit the security vulnerabilities in V2I communications and negatively impact the highway operations. We consider a V2I-enabled highway segment facing two classes of vehicles (agent populations), each with an authorized access to one server (subset of lanes). Vehicles are strategic in that they can misreport their class (type) to the system operator and get an unauthorized access to the server dedicated to the other class. This misbehavior causes additional congestion externality on the compliant vehicles, and thus, needs to be deterred. We focus on an environment where the operator is able to inspect the vehicles for misbehavior. The inspection is costly and successful detection incurs a fine on the misbehaving vehicle. We formulate a signaling game to study the strategic interaction between the vehicle classes and the operator. Our equilibrium analysis provides conditions on the cost parameters that govern the vehicles' incentive to misbehave or not. We also determine the operator's equilibrium inspection strategy

    Markov α\alpha-Potential Games: Equilibrium Approximation and Regret Analysis

    This paper proposes a new notion of Markov α\alpha-potential games to study Markov games. Two important classes of practically significant Markov games, Markov congestion games and the perturbed Markov team games, are analyzed in this framework of Markov α\alpha-potential games, with explicit characterization of the upper bound for α\alpha and its relation to game parameters. Moreover, any maximizer of the α\alpha-potential function is shown to be an α\alpha-stationary Nash equilibrium of the game. Furthermore, two algorithms for the Nash regret analysis, namely the projected gradient-ascent algorithm and the sequential maximum improvement algorithm, are presented and corroborated by numerical experiments.Comment: 35 pages, 3 figure

    Case report: Misdiagnosis of primary mucinous cystadenoma of the testicle by ultrasound

    Testicular mucinous cystadenoma is a rare benign testicular tumor with the characteristics of being potentially malignant and showing atypical clinical symptoms; this article reports a case of a primary testicular mucinous cystadenoma misdiagnosed as testicular teratoma by ultrasound. A 69-year-old man was admitted to the hospital because of a 1-year history of left-sided testicular enlargement with scrotal swelling and no obvious abnormalities on laboratory tests. Ultrasound examination revealed solid-mass lesions in the left testicle, suggesting a high probability of teratoma, and contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) examination suggested an increased possibility of epidermoid cysts. Contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CT) and contrast-enhanced MRI of the preoperative abdomen and pelvis showed no other primary adenocarcinoma. Doctors performed radical resection of the left testicle. The postoperative pathological diagnosis was mucinous cystadenoma, and calcification as well as partially mildly atypical epithelial cells were discovered. Furthermore, there were no neoplastic lesions in the epididymis or spermatic cord. No metastatic lesions were found after 6 months postoperative follow-up, and the patient’s prognosis remains good

    Psychoradiologic abnormalities of white matter in patients with bipolar disorder: diffusion tensor imaging studies using tract-based spatial statistics.

    An increasing number of psychoradiology studies that use tract-based spatial statistics (TBSS) of diffusion tensor imaging have reported abnormalities of white matter in patients with bipolar disorder; however, robust conclusions have proven elusive, especially considering some important clinical and demographic factors. In the present study, we performed a quantitative meta-analysis of TBSS studies to elucidate the most consistent white-matter abnormalities in patients with bipolar disorder.We conducted a systematic search up to May 2017 for all TBSS studies comparing fractional anisotropy (FA) between patients with bipolar disorder and healthy controls. We performed anisotropic effect size-signed differential mapping meta-analysis.We identified a total of 22 data sets including 556 patients with bipolar disorder and 623 healthy controls. We found significant FA reductions in the genu and body of the corpus callosum in patients with bipolar disorder relative to healthy controls. No regions of increased FA were reported. In subgroup analyses, the FA reduction in the genu of the corpus callosum retained significance in patients with bipolar disorder type I, and the FA reduction in the body of the corpus callosum retained significance in euthymic patients with bipolar disorder. Meta-regression analysis revealed that the percentage of female patients was negatively correlated with reduced FA in the body of the corpus callosum.Data acquisition, patient characteristics and clinical variables in the included studies were heterogeneous. The small number of diffusion tensor imaging studies using TBSS in patients with bipolar disorder type II, as well as the lack of other clinical information, hindered the application of subgroup meta-analyses.Our study consistently identified decreased FA in the genu and body of the corpus callosum, suggesting that interhemispheric communication may be the connectivity most affected in patients with bipolar disorder

    Effects of supplemental octanoate on hepatic lipid metabolism, serum biochemical indexes, antioxidant capacity and inflammation-related genes expression of large yellow croaker (Larimichthys crocea) fed with high soybean oil diet

    Dietary high soybean oil (SO) levels might cause hepatic lipid deposition, induce oxidative stress and inflammatory response in aquatic animals, while octanoate (OCT) is beneficial to metabolism and health in mammals. However, the effect of OCT has been studied rarely in aquatic animals. In this study, a 10-week feeding trial was conducted to investigate the effect of supplemental OCT on hepatic lipid metabolism, serum biochemical indexes, antioxidant capacity and inflammatory response of large yellow croaker (Larimichthys crocea) fed with high SO levels diet. The negative control diet contained 7% fish oil (FO), while the positive control diet contained 7% SO. The other four experimental diets were supplemented with 0.7, 2.1, 6.3 and 18.9 g/kg sodium octanoate (OCT) based on the positive control diet. Results showed that OCT supplementation effectively reduced the hepatic crude lipid, triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol (TC) and non-esterified free fatty acids contents, and alleviated lipid accumulation caused by the SO diet. Meanwhile, OCT supplementation decreased the serum TG, TC, alanine transaminase, aspartate transaminase and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels, increased the serum high-density lipoprotein cholesterol level, improved the serum lipid profiles and alleviated hepatic injury. Furthermore, with the supplementation of OCT, the mRNA expression of genes related to lipogenesis (acc1, scd1, fas, srebp1, dgat1 and cebpα) and fatty acid (FA) transport (fabp3, fatp and cd36) were down-regulated, while the mRNA expression of genes related to lipolysis (atgl, hsl and lpl) and FA β-oxidation (cpt1 and mcad) were up-regulated. Besides that, dietary OCT increased the total antioxidant capacity, activities of peroxidase, catalase and superoxide dismutase and the content of reduced glutathione, decreased the content of 8-hydroxy-deoxyguanosine and malondialdehyde and relieved hepatic oxidative stress. Supplementation of 0.7 and 2.1 g/kg OCT down-regulated the mRNA expression of genes related to pro-inflammatory cytokines (tnfα, il1β and ifnγ), and suppressed hepatic inflammatory response. In conclusion, supplementation with 0.7-2.1 g/kg OCT could reduce hepatic lipid accumulation, relieve oxidative stress and regulate inflammatory response in large yellow croaker fed the diet with high SO levels, providing a new way to alleviate the hepatic fat deposition in aquatic animals

    High-Accuracy and Real-Time Indoor Positioning System Based on Visible Light Communication and Mobile Robot

    For mobile robots and location-based services, precise and real-time positioning is one of the most basic capability, and low-cost positioning solutions are increasingly in demand and have broad market potential. In this paper, we innovatively design a high-accuracy and real-time indoor localization system based on visible light positioning (VLP) and mobile robot. First of all, we design smart LED lamps with VLC and Bluetooth control functions for positioning. The design of LED lamps includes hardware design and Bluetooth control. Furthermore, founded on the loose coupling characteristics of ROS (Robot Operator System), we design a VLP-based robot system with VLP information transmitted by designed LED, dynamic tracking algorithm of high robustness, LED-ID recognition algorithm, and triple-light positioning algorithm. We implemented the VLP-based robot positioning system on ROS in an office equipped with the designed LED lamps, which can realize cm-level positioning accuracy of 3.231 cm and support the moving speed up to 20 km/h approximately. This paper pushes forward the development of VLP application in indoor robots, showing the great potential of VLP for indoor robot positioning
