    SciRE-Solver: Efficient Sampling of Diffusion Probabilistic Models by Score-integrand Solver with Recursive Derivative Estimation

    Diffusion probabilistic models (DPMs) are a powerful class of generative models known for their ability to generate high-fidelity image samples. A major challenge in the implementation of DPMs is the slow sampling process. In this work, we bring a high-efficiency sampler for DPMs. Specifically, we propose a score-based exact solution paradigm for the diffusion ODEs corresponding to the sampling process of DPMs, which introduces a new perspective on developing numerical algorithms for solving diffusion ODEs. To achieve an efficient sampler, we propose a recursive derivative estimation (RDE) method to reduce the estimation error. With our proposed solution paradigm and RDE method, we propose the score-integrand solver with the convergence order guarantee as efficient solver (SciRE-Solver) for solving diffusion ODEs. The SciRE-Solver attains state-of-the-art (SOTA) sampling performance with a limited number of score function evaluations (NFE) on both discrete-time and continuous-time DPMs in comparison to existing training-free sampling algorithms. Such as, we achieve 3.483.48 FID with 1212 NFE and 2.422.42 FID with 2020 NFE for continuous-time DPMs on CIFAR10, respectively. Different from other samplers, SciRE-Solver has the promising potential to surpass the FIDs achieved in the original papers of some pre-trained models with a small NFEs. For example, we reach SOTA value of 2.402.40 FID with 100100 NFE for continuous-time DPM and of 3.153.15 FID with 8484 NFE for discrete-time DPM on CIFAR-10, as well as of 2.172.17 (2.022.02) FID with 1818 (5050) NFE for discrete-time DPM on CelebA 64Ă—\times64

    Design of a Low-Voltage Distribution Transformer Based on Inductive Filtering

    Adopting the connection group structure of Dd0yn11, this paper designs a novel low-voltage (LV) distribution transformer (DT) based on inductive filtering (IF), and verifies the proposed transformer through a comprehensive innovation experiment. Firstly, the functional relationship between valve-side harmonic current and grid-side current was derived according to the winding model, and the filtering features were obtained to compute the impedance between the valve- and grid-side windings. Next, the design calculation was carried out by the engineering magnetic circuit (EMC) method. After that, a three-dimensional (3D) model was established for the proposed transformer on ANSYS Maxwell. The simulation results show that the proposed transformer meets the design requirements on the relevant parameters, and eliminates the harmonic pollution in the grid. Finally, the proposed transformer was proved correct and effective through experiments, and found to stimulate studentsꞌ interest in learning and innovation

    An investigation into frequency resolution estimation model for impact signal analysis by using Hilbert spectrum and condition classification for marine diesel engine

    In this paper, frequency resolution determination method is investigated according to Hilbert spectrum performance for impact signal analysis. A new constructed performance estimation model for the best frequency resolution is put forward in this research for the impact signal pattern recognition. Different parameters in the time-frequency distribution by using Hilbert spectrum are considered in this estimation model for the best frequency resolution determination. To verify the effectiveness of this estimation model, numerical simulation is used for Hilbert spectrum construction analysis. At the same time, different marine diesel engine working condition signals analysis are also used to illustrate the methodology developed in this research and verify the effectiveness. It can be concluded that this method can contribute the development for impact signal analysis by using Hilbert spectrum

    Orexin A Affects INS-1 Rat Insulinoma Cell Proliferation via Orexin Receptor 1 and the AKT Signaling Pathway

    Our aim is to investigate the role of the AKT/PKB (protein kinase B) signaling pathway acting via orexin receptor 1 (OX1R) and the effects of orexin A (OXA) on cell proliferation in the insulin-secreting beta-cell line (INS-1 cells). Rat INS-1 cells were exposed to different concentrations of OXA in vitro and treated with OX1R antagonist (SB334867), PI3K antagonist (wortmannin), AKT antagonist (PF-04691502), or negative control. INS-1 amount of cell proliferation, viability and apoptosis, insulin secretion, OX1R protein expression, caspase-3 activity, and AKT protein levels were determined. We report that OXA (10-10 to 10-6 M) stimulates INS-1 cell proliferation and viability, reduces the proapoptotic activity of caspase-3 to protect against apoptotic cell death, and increases insulin secretion. Additionally, AKT phosphorylation was stimulated by OXA (10-10 to 10-6 M). However, the OX1R antagonist SB334867 (10-6 M), the PI3K antagonist wortmannin (10-8 M), the AKT antagonist PF-04691502 (10-6 M), or the combination of both abolished the effects of OXA to a certain extent. These results suggest that the upregulation of OXA-OX1R mediated by AKT activation may inhibit cell apoptosis and promote cell proliferation in INS-1 cells. This finding provides functional evidence of the biological actions of OXA in rat insulinoma cells

    Comparing the vulnerability of different coal industrial symbiosis networks under economic fluctuations

    We establish a vulnerability analytical framework of CISN, and illustrate the impact path of economic fluctuation on CISN performance. Based on this, we propose an improved cascading failure model with directed weighted network, and design five network performance indicators (i.e., relative value of cascading failure, average path length, relative value of maximal connected sub-graphs, network efficiency, and structure entropy). Taking three coal eco-industrial parks in China as cases, we simulate and compare the impacts on CISN vulnerability (i.e., equality-based, dependent-based, and nested-based CISNs) of economic fluctuation. The results indicate that the interaction between economic fluctuation and network structure is the key factor in determining system vulnerability. Concerning overall vulnerability, equality-based CISN is highest, dependent-based CISN is next, and nested-based CISN is lowest. Regarding disturbance type, the changes in the five performance indicators of the three types of CISN are more intense under energy price shocks than with declining demand. Moreover, the cascading failure scale of equality-based CISN is greatest with declining demand, while the other two kinds of CISN’s is greatest under energy price shocks. Concerning disturbance intensity, equality-based CISN shows initial value sensitivity to economic fluctuation, and nested-based CISN has the strongest tolerances for economic fluctuation. From the network performance perspective, the performance of nested-based CISN is superior to that of dependent-based and equality-based CISNs. Due to longer average path length and lower network efficiency, the failure diffusion trend of equality-based CISN shows the curve of Type-S, and the diffusion rate is smooth and slow. Contrariwise, the initial diffusion rate of dependent-based CISN is the highest, indicating that the loss of system efficiency can somewhat improve the system’s anti-risk ability

    An underwater image quality assessment metric

    Various image enhancement algorithms are adopted to improve underwater images that often suffer from visual distortions. It is critical to assess the output quality of underwater images undergoing enhancement algorithms, and use the results to optimise underwater imaging systems. In our previous study, we created a benchmark for quality assessment of underwater image enhancement via subjective experiments. Building on the benchmark, this paper proposes a new objective metric that can automatically assess the output quality of image enhancement, namely UWEQM. By characterising specific underwater physics and relevant properties of the human visual system, image quality attributes are computed and combined to yield an overall metric. Experimental results show that the proposed UWEQM metric yields good performance in predicting image quality as perceived by human subjects

    Folic acid therapy reduces the first stroke risk associated with hypercholesterolemia among hypertensive patients

    Background and Purpose - We sought to determine whether folic acid supplementation can independently reduce the risk of first stroke associated with elevated total cholesterol levels in a subanalysis using data from the CSPPT (China Stroke Primary Prevention Trial), a double-blind, randomized controlled trial. Methods - A total of 20 702 hypertensive adults without a history of major cardiovascular disease were randomly assigned to a double-blind daily treatment of an enalapril 10-mg and a folic acid 0.8-mg tablet or an enalapril 10-mg tablet alone. The primary outcome was first stroke. Results - The median treatment duration was 4.5 years. For participants not receiving folic acid treatment (enalapril-only group), high total cholesterol (≥ 200 mg/dL) was an independent predictor of first stroke when compared with low total cholesterol (\u3c200 mg/dL; 4.0% versus 2.6%; hazard ratio, 1.52; 95% confidence interval, 1.18-1.97; P=0.001). Folic acid supplementation significantly reduced the risk of first s roke among participants with high total cholesterol (4.0% in the enalapril-only group versus 2.7% in the enalapril-folic acid group; hazard ratio, 0.69; 95% confidence interval, 0.56-0.84 P\u3c0.001; number needed to treat, 78; 95% confidence interval, 52-158), independent of baseline folate levels and other important covariates. By contrast, among participants with low total cholesterol, the risk of stroke was 2.6% in the enalapril-only group versus 2.5% in the enalapril-folic acid group (hazard ratio, 1.00; 95% confidence interval, 0.75-1.30; P=0.982). The effect was greater among participants with elevated total cholesterol (P for interaction=0.024). Conclusions - Elevated total cholesterol levels may modify the benefits of folic acid therapy on first stroke. Folic acid supplementation reduced the risk of first stroke associated with elevated total cholesterol by 31% among hypertensive adults without a history of major cardiovascular diseases
