Equilibrium tuned by a magnetic field in phase separated manganite
We present magnetic and transport measurements on La5/8-yPryCa3/8MnO3 with y
= 0.3, a manganite compound exhibiting intrinsic multiphase coexistence of
sub-micrometric ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic charge ordered regions.
Time relaxation effects between 60 and 120K, and the obtained magnetic and
resistive viscosities, unveils the dynamic nature of the phase separated state.
An experimental procedure based on the derivative of the time relaxation after
the application and removal of a magnetic field enables the determination of
the otherwise unreachable equilibrium state of the phase separated system. With
this procedure the equilibrium phase fraction for zero field as a function of
temperature is obtained. The presented results allow a correlation between the
distance of the system to the equilibrium state and its relaxation behavior.Comment: 13 pages, 5 figures. Submited to Journal of Physics: Condensed Matte
Reversible switching of room temperature ferromagnetism in CeO2-Co nanoparticles
We investigated the reversible ferromagnetic (FM) behavior of pure and Co
doped CeO2 nanopowders. The as-sintered samples displayed an increasing
paramagnetic contribution upon Co doping. Room temperature FM is obtained
simply by performing thermal treatments in vacuum at temperatures as low as
500^{\circ}C and it can be switched off by performing thermal treatments in
oxidizing conditions. The FM contribution is enhanced as we increase the time
of the thermal treatment in vacuum. Those systematic experiments establish a
direct relation between ferromagnetism and oxygen vacancies and open a path for
developing materials with tailored properties.Comment: 20 pages, 3 figures; Applied Physics Letters Vol. 100, Issue 17,

PCN119 Cost-Effectiveness of Bendamustine Versus Fludarabine for First-Line Treatment of Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL) in Colombia
Evolution of density perturbations in double exponential quintessence models
In this work we investigate the evolution of matter density perturbations for
quintessence models with a self-interaction potential that is a combination of
exponentials. One of the models is based on the Einstein theory of gravity,
while the other is based on the Brans-Dicke scalar tensor theory. We constrain
the parameter space of the models using the determinations for the growth rate
of perturbations derived from data of the 2-degree Field Galaxy Redshift
Survey.Comment: 5 pages, 3 eps figure
EVALUATION OF BIOMETRIC INDICATORS IN LAMAS (LAMA GLAMA) OF THE CH´ACCU AND K´ARA VARIETIES
Ninety nine llamas K´aras and Ch´accus with their babies were selected at La Raya Research and Production Center of Altiplano National University, Puno, to evaluate the measures of thoracic perimeter (PT), thigh volume (VM) and rump area (ASG) in baby llamas as biometric indicators for body weight (PV) by multiple regression models, and correlations between these variables with udder size (length and width) of the mothers. These evaluations were done at 1st, 2nd and 3rd month of age. The calculations of VM and ASG were done through geometric figures of truncated cone and trapezium respectively, using the Autocad engineering software. The coefficients of determination increased from medium to high as baby llamas increased in age, and the highest value was found at the age of 7 (R2 = 76.3%) and 3 (R2 = 70.0%) for Ch´accus and K´aras respectively. The major effect came from PT in Ch´acus whereas in K´aras was from PT and ASG at 1st and 3rd month of age and VM at 7th month (p<0.05). The relationship in baby llamas between PV and biometric measurements were high, positive and significant, especially at 7 months of age. The relationships between udder size (length and width) and PV, ASG, VM and PT were low with the exception of K´aras at 7 months of age. In general, PV, VM, ASG and PT increased by 55, 53, 34 and 19% and 108, 90, 60 and 35% at 3 and 7 months of age respectively, and without significant differences between breeds. Changes in udder size from the 1st month of age until 3 and 7 months of age were minimum. The results suggested that PT, VM and ASG could be used as biometric indicators of PV in selecting llamas for meat production
