Midway between the Gallic oppidum and the ancient spa, just before a ford on a Mayenne tributary, the site of âLa Carieâ at Entrammes has yielded a stratigraphic succession dating from the mid Celtic (La TĂšne) period, reaching its zenith during the time of the early Roman Empire with its end denoted by a small Merovingian necropolis. These elements are all arranged firstly to the south and then on either side of a large ancient Gallic well. Gallic habitation, firstly insignificant, became more complex before being abandoned towards the end of La TĂšne D1. Using the same base, the site was reoccupied from the time of Tiberius; potterâs kilns indicating the installation of a craft area were found on the periphery of the new administrative town of Entrammes, the former pagus. During the Flavian period, further structures were erected and enlarged through to the beginning of the Severan period. During the Late Empire, although the habitation was abandoned, the road continued to be used; a small Merovingian necropolis ensuring its permanence up to at least the fifteenth century. Finally, we should mention that abundant furniture, not particularly varied, illustrates occupation primarily from the Gallic period to the end of the Early Empire
DELPHES, a framework for fast simulation of a generic collider experiment
It is sometimes difficult to know whether theoretical predictions can be
observed in a high energy collider experiment, especially when expected
experimental signature involve jets and missing transverse energy. For this
purpose, we have designed a new C++ based framework, DELPHES, performing a fast
multipurpose detector response simulation. The simulation includes a tracking
system, embedded into a magnetic field, calorimeters and a muon system, and
possible very forward detectors arranged along the beamline. The framework is
interfaced to standard file formats (e.g. Les Houches Event File or HepMC) and
outputs observables such as isolated leptons, missing transverse energy and
collection of jets which can be used for dedicated analyses. The simulation of
the detector response takes into account the effect of magnetic field, the
granularity of the calorimeters and subdetector resolutions. A simplified
preselection can also be applied on processed events for trigger emulation.
Detection of very forward scattered particles relies on the transport in
beamlines with the HECTOR software. Finally, the FROG 2D/3D event display is
used for visualisation of the collision final states.

Human Resource Management and Distress at Work: What Managers Could Learn from the Spirituality of Work in Simone Weil's Philosophy
International audienceWorkplace spirituality deals with paradoxes. This concept has been taken on board since the late 1980s, but very few human resource managers have realised that workplace spirituality could make an essential contribution to a better understanding of workplace and corporate reality. Increasing numbers of academic papers are being published on this subject but mere remain many grey areas for researchers. The aim of this paper is to use Simone Weil's philosophy as a reading grid to get an insight into workplace spirituality as a new paradigm of management. Initial studies attempting to apply Weil's philosophy to management highlight the necessity for all the actors within the organisation to define their job tasks and contents according to their own way of thinking. Our interpretation of Weil's philosophy also sheds light on the impossibility of dissociating thinking and acting and reminds us that work is done to nourish both the body and the soul. By concentrating on the spirituality of work, we can establish new links between ethics and human resource management
National audienceThis article questions the existing links between working conditions within cooperatives and the possibility to achieve a real spiritual experience within such organizations. Cooperatives, and generally speaking firms from the social business, are, thus, often perceived as to be a protected world, in which workers can express and develop themselves free. By this way, they could realize themselves through work. Such an attempt is not original per se and is aligned with the definition of social business, whose raison d'ĂȘtre relies in giving the core place to individuals within working organizations. In the social business field, cooperatives propose an interesting twist to existing governance structures of working organizations and start to interest many scholars. On a purely theoretical level, cooperatives should combine traditional economic imperatives and human based management. By securing jobs thanks to the control of the strategy of the organization by workers themselves, and not by any other stakeholder such as pensions funds, cooperatives are perceived as to be the alternative, avoiding delocations and factory closings due to a too low profitability. Far beyond these motivations for more secure jobs, recent research sheds last on the motivation for a better well being at work. However, it is really true?
