We evaluated the effect of DMTs on Covid-19 severity in patients with MS, with a pooled-analysis of two large cohorts from Italy and France. The association of baseline characteristics and DMTs with Covid-19 severity was assessed by multivariate ordinal-logistic models and pooled by a fixed-effect meta-analysis. 1066 patients with MS from Italy and 721 from France were included. In the multivariate model, anti-CD20 therapies were significantly associated (OR = 2.05, 95%CI = 1.39–3.02, p < 0.001) with Covid-19 severity, whereas interferon indicated a decreased risk (OR = 0.42, 95%CI = 0.18–0.99, p = 0.047). This pooled-analysis confirms an increased risk of severe Covid-19 in patients on anti-CD20 therapies and supports the protective role of interferon

Institutional Justice, Democratic Justice. Professionals and Laypeople : The “Maison de justice et du droit” Reveals Tensions between Political Models of Justice Legal institutions in France are facing new challenges in terms of the partnership and territorial dimensions of their action, and the “Maison de justice et du droit” is part of this context. The collaboration between actors of various social backgrounds reveals contradictions with regard to the definition of the activities (jurisdictional or not) and the public (residents of the “districts” or not) of this legal structure of proximity. These contradictions display tensions between two models of justice : institutional and democratic. Finally, they reactivate the recurring question of the respective legitimacy of law professionals and lay actors

peer reviewedWhile numerous contemporary studies, in both social psychology and sociology of the law, have addressed legal socialization and legal consciousness on the part of individuals, little work has been done on the complex social construction of the need and demand for legal services. This is by no means a rhetorical question; it involves a number of competing definitions of the relationship between the legal profession and the public, and thus justifies the legal services currently offered. The author shows that policies relating to access to the law and the justice system in France today seek to focus on the user, which means that users must be able to characterize their situation in legal terms and apply to the courts. The process of raising individuals’ consciousness of the law is examined against the backdrop of increasing liberalization of social policies.
