Research on Class-Based Storage Strategies for Flood Control Materials Based on Grey Clustering
Scientific and rational class-based storage can effectively improve the management level of flood control materials, providing assurance for the material support that is essential in flood control. Based on an analysis of the three key factors—importance, cost, and reserve—of flood control materials and combined with the correlations of different classes of materials, a comprehensive evaluation index system and a class-based model for these materials are developed using the grey
clustering method. An empirical analysis is also conducted based on the realistic requirements of a warehouse of the Jiangsu provincial water conservancy and flood control materials reserve centre, which results in the proposal of a class-based materials storage strategy for this warehouse
Optical pump-rejection filter based on silicon sub-wavelength engineered photonic structures
The high index contrast of the silicon-on-insulator (SOI) platform allows the
realization of ultra-compact photonic circuits. However, this high contrast
hinders the implementation of narrow-band Bragg filters. These typically
require corrugations widths of a few nanometers or double-etch geometries,
hampering device fabrication. Here we report, for the first time, on the
realization of SOI Bragg filters based on sub-wavelength index engineering in a
differential corrugation width configuration. The proposed double periodicity
structure allows narrow-band rejection with a single etch step and relaxed
width constraints. Based on this concept, we experimentally demonstrate a
single-etch, thick, Si Bragg filter featuring a corrugation
width of , a rejection bandwidth of and an
extinction ratio exceeding . This represents a ten-fold width
increase compared to conventional single-periodicity, single-etch counterparts
with similar bandwidths

Manipulating Multiple Order Parameters via Oxygen Vacancies: The case of Eu0.5Ba0.5TiO3-{\delta}
Controlling functionalities, such as magnetism or ferroelectricity, by means
of oxygen vacancies (VO) is a key issue for the future development of
transition metal oxides. Progress in this field is currently addressed through
VO variations and their impact on mainly one order parameter. Here we reveal a
new mechanism for tuning both magnetism and ferroelectricity simultaneously by
using VO. Combined experimental and density-functional theory studies of
Eu0.5Ba0.5TiO3-{\delta}, we demonstrate that oxygen vacancies create Ti3+ 3d1
defect states, mediating the ferromagnetic coupling between the localized Eu
4f7 spins, and increase an off-center displacement of Ti ions, enhancing the
ferroelectric Curie temperature. The dual function of Ti sites also promises a
magnetoelectric coupling in the Eu0.5Ba0.5TiO3-{\delta}.Comment: Accepted by Physical Review B, 201
Tailoring carbon nanotubes optical properties through chirality-wise silicon ring resonators
International audienceSemiconducting single walled carbon nanotubes (s-SWNT) have an immense potential for the development of active optoelectronic functionalities in ultra-compact hybrid photonic circuits. Specifically, s-SWNT have been identified as a very promising solution to implement light sources in the silicon photonics platform. Still, two major challenges remain to fully exploit the potential of this hybrid technology: the limited interaction between s-SWNTs and Si waveguides and the low quantum efficiency of s-SWNTs emission. Silicon micro-ring resonators have the potential capability to overcome these limitations, by providing enhanced light s-SWNT interaction through resonant light recirculation. Here, we demonstrate that Si ring resonators provide SWNT chirality-wise photoluminescence resonance enhancement, releasing a new degree of freedom to tailor s-SWNT optical properties. Specifically, we show that judicious design of the micro-ring geometry allows selectively promoting the emission enhancement of either (8,6) or (8,7) SWNT chiralities present in a high-purity polymer-sorted s-SWNT solution. In addition, we present an analysis of nanometric-sized silicon-on-insulator waveguides that predicts stronger light s-SWNT interaction for transverse-magnetic (TM) modes than for conventionally used transverse-electric (TE) modes
Transcriptome sequencing of olfactory-related genes in olfactory transduction of large yellow croaker (Larimichthy crocea) in response to bile salts
Fish produce and release bile salts as chemical signalling substances that act as sensitive olfactory stimuli. To investigate how bile salts affect olfactory signal transduction in large yellow croaker (Larimichthy crocea), deep sequencing of olfactory epithelium was conducted to analyse olfactory-related genes in olfactory transduction. Sodium cholates (SAS) have typical bile salt chemical structures, hence we used four different concentrations of SAS to stimulate L. crocea, and the fish displayed a significant behavioural preference for 0.30% SAS. We then sequenced olfactory epithelium tissues, and identified 9938 unigenes that were significantly differentially expressed between SAS-stimulated and control groups, including 9055 up-regulated and 883 down-regulated unigenes. Subsequent Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) analyses found eight categories linked to the olfactory transduction pathway that was highly enriched with some differentially expressed genes (DEGs), including the olfactory receptor (OR), Adenylate cyclase type 3 (ADCY3) and Calmodulin (CALM). Genes in these categories were analysed by RT-qPCR, which revealed aspects of the pathway transformation between odor detection, and recovery and adaptation. The results provide new insight into the effects of bile salt stimulation in olfactory molecular mechanisms in fishes, and expands our knowledge of olfactory transduction, and signal generation and decline
