Translation Profession Status in Vietnam: Document and Empirical Analyses
Although Olvera-Lobo et al. (2005) found that the volume of documents needed to be translated for cross-national purposes have multiplied manifold globally, including Vietnam, there is no research on the extent of professionalization of the translator in this market until now. This study thus aims at at giving a comprehensive overview on the status of the translation profession in Vietnam by analyzing documentary and empirical data and to indicate the degree of professionalization of this profession in Vietnam. While the findings showed academic attempts to enhance the professionalization of this profession in Vietnam, legal instruments’ analysis indicated the lack of official development evidence, especially in the full-time freelancing type. Via empirical survey and interview data, gaps between university translation degree and the real industry were also pointed out. Implications are then given out for pedagogical purpose
Key issues in medical translation among English-Vietnamese professional medical translators and medical professionals. A descriptive survey
While Kościałkowska-Okońska (2008), Muñoz-Miquel (2018), Badziński (2018) and Badziński (2019) all indicated major issues in medical translation such as specialized terminology and inequivalences, in Vietnamese context, until the end of 2020, there was no research relating to any specialized translation (Hoang, 2020). The aim of the study is thus to analyze problems in English-Vietnamese medical translation, which is a crucial communication and knowledge exchange medium of the human race by medical translators and medical professionals. A survey questionnaire with further comments isused to understand key problems in medical translation. The paper then discusses key position of some other problematic issues besides collocations that differs from Badziński (2019) results. A comparison with existing literature is fully incorporated as well
A New Phase Transition Related to the Black Hole's Topological Charge
The topological charge of AdS black hole is introduced in
Ref.[1,2], where a complete thermodynamic first law is obtained. In this paper,
we investigate a new phase transition related to the topological charge in
Einstein-Maxwell theory. Firstly, we derive the explicit solutions
corresponding to the divergence of specific heat and determine
the phase transition critical point. Secondly, the curve and curve
are investigated and they exhibit an interesting van der Waals system's
behavior. Critical physical quantities are also obtained which are consistent
with those derived from the specific heat analysis. Thirdly, a van der Waals
system's swallow tail behavior is observed when in the
graph. What's more, the analytic phase transition coexistence lines are
obtained by using the Maxwell equal area law and free energy analysis, the
results of which are consistent with each other.Comment: 11 pages, 5 figure
Attractive Interaction between Vortex and Anti-vortex in Holographic Superfluid
Annihilation process of a pair of vortices in holographic superfluid is
numerically simulated. The process is found to consist of two stages which are
amazingly separated by vortex size . The separation distance
between vortex and anti-vortex as a function of time is well fitted by , where the scaling exponent for , and
for . Then the approaching velocity and acceleration as
functions of time and as functions of separation distance are obtained. Thus
the attractive force between vortex and anti-vortex is derived as
for the first stage, and for the second stage. In the end, we explained why the
annihilation rate of vortices in turbulent superfluid system obeys the two-body
decay law when the vortex density is low.Comment: 14 pages, 5 figure
Evaluating factors affecting attitudes of IT-intensive and non-IT-intensive students towards e-assessment
Despite the significant shift to distance computer-based test as an inevitable outcome of Industry 4.0 and the public lockdown of COVID-19, little effort has been made to research this new testing mode. To address this issue, this study targets two groups of information technology (IT)-intensive and non-IT-intensive students with an aim of investigating factors that effectively encourage each group to adopt online assessment and whether their majors cause any differences in the students’ attitudes. Based on the student perception of e-assessment questionnaire (SPEAQ) with some slight modifications, a final 28-item survey was formed and distributed to 400 students. Results have shown that the factors of security, and affective factors were the top factors to impact both groups of students, while the impact of validity and practicality varied among the two groups and reliability and teaching-learning were at the bottom. Besides, there were no noticeable differences in the attitudes of students coming from different majors
