NLO Calculations for Charm Production in DIS
I present a short overview of the NLO QCD calculations available for
deep-inelastic production of heavy quarks.Comment: 3 pages. Talk given at UK Phenomenology Workshop on Collider Physics,
Durham, England, 19-24 Sep 199
QCD
In these lecture notes I describe the theory of QCD and its application,
through perturbation theory, at particle colliders.Comment: 58 pages, contribution to the Proceedings of the 2014 European School
of High-Energy Physics. Garderen, the Netherlands, 18 June - 1 July 201
Top quark in theory
I review how the top quark is embedded in the Standard Model and some its
proposed extensions, and how it manifests itself in various hadron collider
signals.Comment: 12 page
Radiative corrections to scattering
We investigate the effects of photon radiation on deep-inelastic \re\gamma
scattering. Depending on the set of variables chosen, we find appreciable
effects in the kinematic region accessible at LEP2. Convenient analytic results
for corrected differential cross sections are presented.Comment: 9 pages, latex + 1 postscript figure, all uuencode
Charm Production in Deep-Inelastic Scattering To Next-To-Leading Order in QCD
We discuss the calculation of to next-to-leading
order (NLO) in QCD, including contributions from both hadronlike and pointlike
photons. We show that the former dominates strongly below , and
the latter above this value. This fact makes for calculable, whereas for it serves to constrain the
small- gluon density in the photon. Both ranges in are accessible at
LEP2. Theoretical uncertainties are well under control. We present rates for
single-tag events for the process for for LEP2.
Although these event rates are small, we believe a measurement of
is feasible.Comment: 7 pages Latex, with 2 eps figs., uuencode
Model-independent QED corrections to photon structure-function measurements
We present the first calculation of QED radiative corrections to
deep-inelastic electron-photon scattering in terms of those variables that are
reconstructed in measurements of the photon structure function in
electron-positron collisions. In order to cover the low- region, we do not
invoke the QCD-improved parton model but rather express our results in terms of
the photon structure functions. Both analytical and numerical results are
given.Comment: Latex, 8 pages, 3 figures, uses epsfig.sty, 12pt.st
Heavy-quark correlations in deep inelastic scattering
We discuss results for heavy quark correlations in next-to-leading order QCD
in deep inelastic electroproduction.Comment: Talk presented by J. Smith. To appear in proceedings of "QCD and QED
in Higher Orders" 1996 Zuethen Workshop on Elementary Particle Theory, April

Electroweak-boson hadroproduction at large transverse momentum: factorization, resummation, and NNLO corrections
We study the resummation of singular distributions for electroweak-boson
production at large transverse momentum in hadronic collisions. We describe the
factorization properties of the cross section near partonic threshold and
construct the resummed cross section at next-to-leading logarithmic accuracy in
moment space in terms of soft gluon anomalous dimensions. We present full
analytical results for the expansion of the resummed cross section up to
next-to-next-to-leading order. Our results can be applied to W, Z, and virtual
gamma production at hadron colliders.Comment: 15 pages LaTeX, 2 postscript figure
