The seesaw portal in testable models of neutrino masses
A Standard Model extension with two Majorana neutrinos can explain the
measured neutrino masses and mixings, and also account for the
matter-antimatter asymmetry in a region of parameter space that could be
testable in future experiments. The testability of the model relies to some
extent on its minimality. In this paper we address the possibility that the
model might be extended by extra generic new physics which we parametrize in
terms of a low-energy effective theory. We consider the effects of the
operators of the lowest dimensionality, , and evaluate the upper bounds on
the coefficients so that the predictions of the minimal model are robust. One
of the operators gives a new production mechanism for the heavy neutrinos at
LHC via higgs decays. The higgs can decay to a pair of such neutrinos that,
being long-lived, leave a powerful signal of two displaced vertices. We
estimate the LHC reach to this process.Comment: 19 pages, 11 figure
Trade War, PPE, and Race
Tariffs on Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as face masks and gloves, weaken the American response to COVID. The United States has exacerbated PPE shortages with Section 301 tariffs on these goods, part of a trade war with China. This has a disparate impact felt by minority communities because of a series of health inequity harms. COVIDâs racial disparity appears in virus exposure, virus susceptibility, and COVID treatments. This Article makes legal, policy, and race-and-health arguments. Congress has delegated to the United States Trade Representative expansive authority to increase tariffs. This has made PPE supplies casualties of the trade war. In political terms, the Trump administration prioritized increasing tariffs over public health readiness. Regarding race, PPE shortages exemplify the socioeconomic effects of trade policies and add to COVIDâs racial disparities
Fourier Mukai Transforms for Gorenstein Schemes
We extend to singular schemes with Gorenstein singularities or fibered in
schemes of that kind Bondal and Orlov's criterion for an integral functor to be
fully faithful. We also contemplate a criterion for equivalence. We offer a
proof that is new even if we restrict to the smooth case. In addition, we prove
that for locally projective Gorenstein morphisms, a relative integral functor
is fully faithful if and only if its restriction to each fibre also is it.
These results imply the invertibility of the usual relative Fourier-Mukai

The seesaw path to leptonic CP violation
Future experiments such as SHiP and high-intensity colliders will
have a superb sensitivity to heavy Majorana neutrinos with masses below .
We show that the measurement of the mixing to electrons and muons of one such
state could imply the discovery of leptonic CP violation in the context of
seesaw models. We quantify in the minimal model the CP discovery potential of
these future experiments, and demonstrate that a 5 CL discovery of
leptonic CP violation would be possible in a very significant fraction of

Nonlinear phenomena are essential ingredients in many oceanic and atmospheric
processes, and successful understanding of them benefits from multidisciplinary
collaboration between oceanographers, meteorologists, physicists and
mathematicians. The present Special Issue on ``Nonlinear Processes in Oceanic
and Atmospheric Flows'' contains selected contributions from attendants to the
workshop which, in the above spirit, was held in Castro Urdiales, Spain, in
July 2008. Here we summarize the Special Issue contributions, which include
papers on the characterization of ocean transport in the Lagrangian and in the
Eulerian frameworks, generation and variability of jets and waves, interactions
of fluid flow with plankton dynamics or heavy drops, scaling in meteorological
fields, and statistical properties of El Ni\~no Southern Oscillation.Comment: This is the introductory article to a Special Issue on "Nonlinear
