[Qualitative characteristics the Carcass Lambs Different Submitted Genotypes Two Systems of Production]. Abstract: In system meat production, qualitative characteristics of carcass are basic importance to complement the evaluation of animal performance. Thus, objectified to evaluate the influence of production system, as well different genotypes on qualitative characteristics carcass of lambs. Twenty four animals had been observed, entire males, breeds ½ Dorper x ½ SPRD, ½ Saint Ines x ½ SPRD and ½ Somalis x ½ SPRD, submitted the termination the grass and in confinement. The animals had been abated with average alive weight of 30 kg. The carcasses had been weighed and cooled for 24h, when they had been extracted Longissimus dorsi and in them measured degree of marbling, distribution and texture of the fat and texture beyond the color and texture of the meat. Distribution of fat in carcass did not suffer influence from no treatment (P>0.05), whereas the degree of marbling and texture of fat had interference of the production system, as well the color of meat. Evaluated genotypes had not differed in distribution attributes of fat, as well as in texture and color of meat. The lambs ½ Saint Ines x ½ SPRD presented the average minors for the marbling attributes and texture of fat. The mixed race ½ Dorper x ½ SPRD provided the best ones resulted for the attributes evaluated in this research

Sensorial characteristics of the Morada Nova lambs meat submitted to diets with different levels of inclusion of cashew nut meal. Abstract: Nineteen lambs Morada Nova, fed with increasing levels of inclusion of cashew nut meal (0, 3, 6 and 9%) to reach slaughter body weight of 20 kg and to evaluate for their sensorial characteristic of tenderness, succulence, odour, flavor and global acceptance by a panel of 10 trained judges. Difference was observed only for color and flavor, in the diet with 6% of cashew nut meal presented the highest averages. Thus, the addition of cashew nut meal in the diet of Morada Nova lambs influence the sensorial characteristics of color and flavor of meat, as that the level inclusion is high

Morphometrics measures of carcass of lambs finished under two systems of production. Abstract: Used 39 lambs, being 13 lambs of each genotype, blood way Dorper, Santa Inês and Somalis, all entire males. With two systems termination in native and cultivated pasture, they had been directed it abates with minimum weight of 25kg and props up corporal equal or bigger that three. The alive weight (PV) exerts inference on the weight of hot carcass (PCQ) (r = 0,96), length of corporal one (CC) (r = 0,75), thoracic perimeter (PT) (r = 0.91) and the internal length of the carcass (CIC) (r = 0.71), indicating raised correlation between these indices. It props up corporal (ECC) weakly is correlated with weight of hot carcass (PCQ) (r = 0,47) and cold (PCF) (r = 0,48), thoracic perimeter (PT) (r = 0,47) and area of eye of loin (AOL) (r = 0.41), indicating possibility use this parameter to choose moment to direct the animals for it abates. The area of eye of loin positively correlates with all the analyzed variable, predicting a carcass with quality abates for it. All other variable are correlated, being important in choice of moment abate

QAPgrid: A Two Level QAP-Based Approach for Large-Scale Data Analysis and Visualization

Background: The visualization of large volumes of data is a computationally challenging task that often promises rewarding new insights. There is great potential in the application of new algorithms and models from combinatorial optimisation. Datasets often contain “hidden regularities” and a combined identification and visualization method should reveal these structures and present them in a way that helps analysis. While several methodologies exist, including those that use non-linear optimization algorithms, severe limitations exist even when working with only a few hundred objects. Methodology/Principal Findings: We present a new data visualization approach (QAPgrid) that reveals patterns of similarities and differences in large datasets of objects for which a similarity measure can be computed. Objects are assigned to positions on an underlying square grid in a two-dimensional space. We use the Quadratic Assignment Problem (QAP) as a mathematical model to provide an objective function for assignment of objects to positions on the grid. We employ a Memetic Algorithm (a powerful metaheuristic) to tackle the large instances of this NP-hard combinatorial optimization problem, and we show its performance on the visualization of real data sets. Conclusions/Significance: Overall, the results show that QAPgrid algorithm is able to produce a layout that represents the relationships between objects in the data set. Furthermore, it also represents the relationships between clusters that are feed into the algorithm. We apply the QAPgrid on the 84 Indo-European languages instance, producing a near-optimal layout. Next, we produce a layout of 470 world universities with an observed high degree of correlation with the score used by the Academic Ranking of World Universities compiled in the The Shanghai Jiao Tong University Academic Ranking of World Universities without the need of an ad hoc weighting of attributes. Finally, our Gene Ontology-based study on Saccharomyces cerevisiae fully demonstrates the scalability and precision of our method as a novel alternative tool for functional genomics
