Investigating the topological structure of quenched lattice QCD with overlap fermions by using multi-probing approximation

The topological charge density and topological susceptibility are determined by multi-probing approximation using overlap fermions in quenched SU(3) gauge theory. Then we investigate the topological structure of the quenched QCD vacuum, and compare it with results from the all-scale topological density, the results are consistent. Random permuted topological charge density is used to check whether these structures represent underlying ordered properties. Pseudoscalar glueball mass is extracted from the two-point correlation function of the topological charge density. We study 33 ensembles of different lattice spacing aa with the same lattice volume 163×3216^{3}\times32, the results are compatible with the results of all-scale topological charge density, and the topological structures revealed by multi-probing are much closer to all-scale topological charge density than that by eigenmode expansion.Comment: 12 pages,34 figure

MicroRNA-101 Exerts Tumor-Suppressive Functions in Non-small Cell Lung Cancer through Directly Targeting Enhancer of Zeste Homolog 2

Introduction:Overexpression of the enhancer of zeste homolog 2 (EZH2) protein has been found in broad range of cancer types, including non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Nevertheless, the mechanisms by which EZH2 becomes overexpressed in NSCLC remain unclear. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) can regulate target gene expression through translational control. In this study, we investigate whether miRNA (miR-101) regulates EZH2 expression in NSCLC.Methods:We evaluated the expression of miR-101 and EZH2 in 20 matched NSCLC and adjacent nontumor lung tissues by reverse-transcriptase polymerase chain reaction and immunohistochemistry, respectively. Luciferase reporter assay was used to determine whether miR-101 directly targets EZH2. To assess the effect of miR-101 on NSCLC biological behavior, cell proliferation, invasion, and response to chemotherapy were analyzed using NSCLC cells transfected with miR-101 mimics or transfected with specific small interfering RNA to deplete EZH2 (small interfering RNA-EZH2).Results:Reduced expression of miR-101 was associated with overexpression of EZH2 in NSCLC tumor tissues. Transfection of miR-101 mimics significantly suppressed the activity of the luciferase reporter containing wild type but not mutant EZH2 3′-UTR and decreased EZH2 expression in NSCLC cell lines. Furthermore, enforced expression of miR-101 or knockdown of EZH2 led to reduced NSCLC cell proliferation and invasion and sensitized cancer cells to paclitaxel-mediated apoptosis through inducing expression of the proapoptotic protein Bim.Conclusions:miR-101 inhibits cell proliferation and invasion and enhances paclitaxel-induced apoptosis in NSCLC cells, at least in part, by directly repressing EZH2 expression. Therapeutic strategies to rescue miR-101 expression or silence EZH2 may be beneficial to patients with NSCLC in the future

Gauged Q ball in a piecewise parabolic potential

Q ball solutions are considered within the theory of a complex scalar field with a gauged U(1) symmetry and a parabolic-type potential. In the thin-walled limit, we show explicitly that there is a maximum size for these objects because of the repulsive Coulomb force. The size of Q ball will increase with the decrease of local minimum of the potential. And when the two minima degenerate, the energy stored within the surface of the Q ball becomes significant. Furthermore, we find an analytic expression for gauged Q ball, which is beyond the conventional thin-walled limit.Comment: 1 figure

A Study of Lateral Bearing Capacity of Pile by Dynamic Test

    Get PDF
In order to improve the knowledge of the Lateral Loading behavior of artificially drilled cast-in-place concrete piles, the full-scale lateral static and dynamic loading tests of eleven piles had been carried out by the authors in Louyang, China. In this paper, the principle of laterally dynamic pile test is discussed. The results of the static and dynamic tests performed in the light of different diameter piles are analyzed comparatively. It is found that the critical loads defined by the dynamic testing are almost identical with results of the static testing ones. Thus we come to a conclusion that the lateral critical loading of the single pile in the area can be determined by dynamic testing method
